ZT Lunchbox 200-watt 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier Review

ZT Lunchbox 200-watt 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

This amp will not blow away a quality amp with a bigger speaker.
But, for a 9 lb amp, it's remarkable.
Out of the box, it is very dry and even a little harsh sounding, but, with some outboard reverb and EQ, it can sound quite good. It retains its sound quality at high volume (I played it with keys, bass and drums and had no problem with volume). You forget how small the thing is.
I rated it 4 stars because there are better sounding amps (although they are bigger) and because it requires outboard FX to sound good at all.

Since hitting the streets in February 2009, the ultra-compact ZT Lunchbox amplifier has changed the way many players think about amps. The Lunchbox has proven that an amp does not need to be big to be loud, or expensive to sound great. That you can actually gig with an amp that weighs less than 10 pounds. Doubters have become believers – The Lunchbox really delivers.

Packing 200 watts of power, the Lunchbox has enough output for a jam or live gig, and world-class tone that has pros using it in the studio as well as onstage. Unlike any other amp close to its size, it has the muscle to handle any effects you throw in front of it, and the warmth and depth to sound great with single-coil pickups as well as humbuckers.

Go ahead, plug in and see for yourself. Then, lift your jaw up off the floor, toss your Lunchbox in a backpack with some cords and pedals, and get out there and play!

Applause by Ovation AE148-RRB Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Applause by Ovation AE148-RRB Acoustic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the perfect guitar for someone who wants a guitar with the sound of an acoustic but which frets with the ease of an electric. I immediately restrung mine (with Martin's FX Phosphor & Silk), because the strings it came with over-tensioned the neck when I brought the guitar up to standard tuning. But once that was done, it had the most beautiful acoustic voice (practically bell-like) and it fretted like it thought it was a 1960s Gibson. The AE148's neck is very narrow which is something I greatly appreciated for my XS-sized hands. It's a super shallow body which doesn't project with as loud an acoustic volume as the deeper-bodied Ovations, but the super shallow body is also comfortable for a petite individual to hold (something deeper bodied guitars aren't). I consider the AE148 to be a near-perfect guitar, but if you are someone very large with extremely large hands, you might want try one out to make sure it's comfortable for your hands.

Epiphone Limited Edition Riviera Custom P93 Electric Guitar, Wine Red Review

Epiphone Limited Edition Riviera Custom P93 Electric Guitar, Wine Red

Before I purchased this instrument, I read a lot of reviews. Some good, some not so good. Biggest complaint was that the instrument was not assembled well and had lose parts when it arrived. Some other complaints was about the action. Blues requires heavier strings, higher action, and wider frets. This instrument is a SUPER GREAT Blues, Jazz, & Country guitar for the money!
My instrument arrived in great condition, no lose parts (been playing on it for a month now and nothing lose!) It sounds great (I play Blues) and looks terrific.
Unless you want to spend 2 or 3 thousand bucks for a good Blues, Jazz, or Country guitar, you can not go wrong with this fine $500 instrument. Epiphone Limited Edition Riviera Custom P93 Electric Guitar, Wine Red
Hope this helps,

Blackstar HT-5 Series HT-5H 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head, Black Review

Blackstar HT-5 Series HT-5H 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Played one of these at Guitar Center. It was the Blackstar HT-5 Head hooked up to 2 10" Blackstar cabs. Used a PRS Singlecut SE with it. They also had an Egnater Rebel Head. The Blackstar HT-5 sounded way better than the Egnater IMO and was able to get decent high gain tones at lower volume. The ISF knob makes a big difference in the voicing of the mids of the amp and really changes its character. I also tried to max the gain, Bass @ 10, Mids @ 0, Treble @ 10 and it sounded like mud however that is an extreme metal setting. Cleans are good but not outstanding. Overall this amp has its own sound to it but I would say its closer to a high gain Marshall than it is to a Mesa Rectifier. I believe the power tube it uses isn't a common size but you can find replacements which is something to consider as well. There are also a lot of youtube videos of this amp and I can say it sounds better and more full in person as youtube tends to add a lot of compression.

Takamine GS430S G NEX Acoustic Guitar, Satin Cedar Review

Average Reviews:

I've been playing guitar since caveman times. I've been looking for something smaller than my Martin dreadnought--for a new tone in my recordings, and to have a guitar I can sit on the couch and play comfortably. I saw this in GC, picked it up and fell in love. OK, fell in like. It's easy to play, sounds great, has a solid wood top, and the price can't be beat. I actually went back to the store later to make sure I had the right model number. I haven't bought one yet but I will and I'll get it here through Amazon. (Buy a guitar at GC? Who does THAT?) Recommended if you're a seasoned player, or if you're looking for an inexpensive yet well-built, easy-to-play guitar for your kid.

Schecter Tempest Custom Electric Guitar - Black Review

Schecter Tempest Custom Electric Guitar - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This one is a keeper. I have had my Schecter Tempest Custom in gloss black with gold hardware since February, 2010. The intonation on this guitar is fantastic. The neck is smooth and fast. While the factory Grover tuners were OK, I found I was retuning after every 2 songs or so. So, I put a set of Sperzel locking tunersSperzel 3x3 Gold Plated Locking Machine Heads, which fit very easily into the holes that were already in the head. They look fantastic (see photo above) and my tuning/retuning has gone way down.
For strings, I have been using Optima Golds (24 k gold-plated) that I have been buying overseas (best price, even with shipping - but check the exchange rates).
As far as my strap, I tried a few, but the last one I tried was the best - a Jodi Head Koi in Black and Gold Jodi Head Black Koi Fish 2.5 Silk Brocade w/ Adjustable Tail Guitar Strap.

Line 6 Spider IV 150 150-watt 2x12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier Review

Line 6 Spider IV 150 150-watt 2x12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have played the guitar and other instruments for a little over 50 years. I have a collection of fine guitars that is modest in number but consists of some of the best instruments made. I am retired and play my music in a studio in my home that contains only two amplifiers and all the audio equipment necessary for a high grade amateur studio. One of these amplifiers is an old Fender Princeton; the other is a Line 6 Spider IV 150. I have not played professionally since the 70's because I decided to use my energy to become successful in business. Even though I have not played professionally for a long period of time, I have kept on top of the technology that is now available to guitarists that were only a dream in 1970. During my 50 years of playing I have played on many guitar amplifiers, all of which were supposed to be the "best" but rarely did they ever meet my quest for quality of sound regardless of price. I must say that the Line 6 Spider IV 150 combo amp is, in my opinion, the best value in guitar amplifiers I have ever come across for the following reasons:
1) The 150 watt amplifier section is powerful and permits high volume playing of clean sounds that remain clean. I assume it is a high current amp because of the nature of the delivery of its power.
2) The ability to produce many sounds through on board effects surpasses any other amp I have played.
3) The efficient use of controls on the face of the amp allows one to play and use all of the effects in an understandable system of controls which actually reduces the number of knobs by making many of them multipurpose controls that really are easy to use. The control of the amp benefits significantly by the addition of the optional "Short Board" that allows pedal adjustment and stomp on/off functions of all important controls. This short board is constructed of high strength materials and seems to be built to last a lifetime. (That may not be as long in my case, but I feel comfortable applying this statement to younger players.) The short board is not a necessity, but its addition makes the Spider IV 150 an integrated system in which the amplifier and short board complement each other. For live playing, the short board is a necessity. There is a larger two pedal board that I do not think is necessary nor worth the cost.
(4) The circuitry is quiet enough to permit direct amp to mixer recordings.
(5) While the Spider IV is a solid state amp, its sound is great, and will not disappoint those needing an amp of this size and power. However, I have become accustomed to quality solid state amps and have never really caught on to regularly overdriving tube amps to achieve an effect. This personal feeling may come from my early years of playing where overdriving was not an intended sound, but was simply the result of trying to play louder than the amp's capabilities. In the early 60's virtually all amps were underpowered and few groups could push much of their volume through large and powerful stage setups because they were frequently unavailable. This brings back the memory that even when I played as a teenager with a group, there frequently were situations where the power available in the venue was capable of driving all of our equipment. We satisfied this problem by always taking 6 12 gauge 100 foot extension cables.
(6) The 2 12" speakers seem to be able to reproduce whatever the amplifier can deliver (within reason).
I have been happy with the Spider IV 150 for almost a year and I believe I have used it enough to allow any shortcomings to surface. I have not detected any signs of shortcomings and, accordingly, I highly recommend this amplifier.

Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 400-Watt Ultra Light Bass Guitar Cabinet with Horn Review

Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 400-Watt Ultra Light Bass Guitar Cabinet with Horn
Average Reviews:

This GK bass cabinet is the best sounding cabinet I've ever used in this price range. It rivals cabinets that are twice the price (and weight!). This new material that GK uses to enclose its speakers is space-age. The cabinet weighs about 35lbs and even an old rocker like myself can tote this in my car for a gig without having to sheepishly ask some youthful types for a little help. The 15 thunders the floor plus the tweeter gives that extra crispness on the high end for clarity. Seriously, there's no better bass cab for the money than this 115MBE.

Fender Super Champ XD Electric Guitar Amplifier Review

Fender Super Champ XD Electric Guitar Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fender finally did it, designed and built the best practice amp in the world. Bear in mind, the cynic in me usually tempers hyperbole about products. In any case, this amp sounds great regardless of what's driving it; I currently play a Gibson ES-175D, an Epiphone Sheraton, and a Yamaha Pacifica equipped with Kinman pickups. (I soon hope to get another Stratocaster, and install my Kinmans it it, but I digress.)
Like a tube amp should, and like *no* solid state amp can, the Super Champ XD responds dynamically to varying pick attack. In addition, all of it's emulations sound more convincing *because* it's a tube amp.
Re. the emulations, to my ears, the "Blackface" mode sounds most convincing of all, very Stevie Ray, especially in Voice Position 6. The "Tweed" emulation sounds equally convincing, but I'm not as big a fan of that, somewhat darker tonality. The "British" emulations sound like a cross between Marshall and Vox, not quite either, but a compromise between the two. The "Hot Rod" emulation sounds quite a bit like a Mesa Boogie, and I'm sure a PRS or Les Paul player can pretend to be Carlos, accordingly. I have yet to play around much with the "Metal", "Jazz", or "Acoustic" emulations.
Emulations aside, I think what makes this amp sound so good, is the speaker. Apparently, some reviewers at harmonycentral.com and musiciansfriend.com seem to disagree, but I think the speaker makes this amp sound *huge*, even at low volumes. In fact, I dare say it sounds as big and punchy as the Bandmaster I used to own, many years ago.

Fernandes Nomad Standard Electric Guitar - Hot Rod Flames Review

Fernandes Nomad Standard Electric Guitar - Hot Rod Flames
Average Reviews:

I bought my Nomad (aka ZO-3) when I was living in Japan in '95, and it's held up like it was brand new.
(ZO-3 = ZOsan. "Zo" means elephant. 3 is "san" in Japanese. Mr. Elephant And if you look at it, it looks kinda like an elephant.)
The sound it is able to put out with just a 9 volt battery is amazing for such a small guitar! And the rock-n-roll feedback has that Hendryx love to it. (Not that I could ever play like that - ever...)
It's my favorite guitar!
Right now it's being used in a faux documentary of a band trying to make it big in Japan - as the band walks down the streets playing it, and the bass version of it.
I just hope that the cops don't take it away as they walk down the street - it can crank up that much sound!
It's well worth the money!

Average Reviews:

I've been without a 5 string ever since my Stingray was stolen a couple of years ago. It's obviously not on the same level as a Stingray, but the Curbow is a solid, warm sounding bass. The sustain is great and plays really well. It was in bad need of a set up when I received it (large neck adjustment, the intonation was out, the action was insanely high and the tuning knobs were all loose), but once it was set up right I didn't want to mess with any of my other basses. I've been playing for roughly 15 years, though these days it's more of a hobby, mostly metal and it works great. My only lasting issue is some electronic buzz, but that is because the active pickups are so strong. For $350, tax included, you really can't go wrong....

Dean V Dave Mustaine Guitar, Bolt-on Metallic Silver Review

Dean V Dave Mustaine Guitar, Bolt-on Metallic Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The pick-ups are very nice and deliver a lot of chunk (far from sounding muddy). The two volume knobs have allowed me to achive sounds I could never get with my single vol knob guitars. The Grover tuners are the best I've ever owned. The fret board is beautifully polished, easy to navigate, and very fast. The string-through body realy does increase sustain, and it's very easy to re-string. The paint is also very nice, and easy to keep clean. It's a rather large guitar, it took over an hour at Guitar Center to find a case to accomidate both its length & width. But I would'nt let the size turn u off, it has great balance and it's comfortable to play even while sitting (it's an absolute blast to play). Finally, I had to drill another hole in my guitar-stand a few inches higher to raise the base-cradle because the points on the "V" were so long they would hit the ground (it was easy). Now, I did write another review here at amazon on this same guitar (black model) before I saw this listing - which is the color I have. Anyway I truely hope this reiew is helpfull.

The Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX is an affordable Mustaine signature model, perfect for beginners who want an axe that'll last. It features a pair of blazing Dean humbuckers, Grover Mini tuners, an Ebony fingerboard, and a Tone pros bridge.

Dean and Dave MustaineDean Guitars is proud to intruduce the Dave Mustaine Signature VMNT series. Well-known in the metal world, Mustaine has been the driving force behind Megadeth for 25 years. The VMNT series offers Dave's special D shaped neck profile with a full two-octave, 24-fret neck, set up at the factory for fast, low action and easy access to upper frets. The guitars feature string-through-body design for serious sustain and playability, along with a variety of solid hardware appointments.

Mahogany BodyDean uses a mahogany body for this instrument.Mahogany is a common choice for electrics, dependably delivering a warm, full tone with plenty of punch and sustain.

Bolt-On ConstructionBolt-on neck construction provides an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it.

The VMNTX's maple neck features an ultra-playable 24-fret ebony fingerboard, with classic dot inlays.

Dean Humbucker PickupsTo capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, which provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

Grover TunersIf you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard.

Small and lightweight, the Mini Grover tuners fit guitar headstocks that won't take full-size machines. The mini buttons provide more space for players' fingers (even larger fingers) to tune strings. Gear ratio is 14:1. Sealed-in lubrication keeps Mini-Rotomatics perfect for a lifetime!

I waited with baited breath for this to arrive based on Fishmans description. I thought well, this will be great to be able to adjust the mic portion of the pick-up. Silly me!!! The flexible shaft of the mic just LIMPLY sags and will not stay where you position it. You would think Fishman (making such good pick-ups) would have made a more sturdy flexible shaft.

I bought my Epiphone Casino about five years ago. I was orignally attracted to the cosmetics, and it was a cheaper, thinner, hollowbody.
THere's a surprising range of tone you can get out of those two P-90s. The feel was great too. Had a real low action. Honestly, I never had a problem with the guitar, though if the inpur jack were to fall in the body... or a pot... well, you can imagine the nightmare that would be. Never happened in the five years I owned my Casino.
The only downside to this guitar is that the combination of P-90s and hollowbody doesn't stand up too well to high-gain music. If that's your style, beware; this guitar will feedback.

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am not a professional musician....just a hobby blues player always on a quest for sound. I came across this guitar by coincidence. I was aware that they have a Gibson version of Lucille, but I saw that Epiphone has a version of it also. The price difference is dramatical, play both models side by side and you will be blown away with the Epiphone version. The feel of the guitar is awesome. The pickups are great. The thing that blew me away is the vari-tone switch. I played this guitar clean and distorted and played around with the vari-tone switch and loved the sounds that i was hearing. You can get a really nice fat sound or a near screech sound out of Lucille. If you are into the classic rock blues type of sound or the B.B. King sound this is the guitar for you. Trust me you have to try this guitar out. I have played Les Pauls and Flying V's, but this version just blows those out of the water. I never really thought of ever buying a Gibson/Epiphone product, but I did and I do not regret it at all, this coming from a die hard Stratocaster and Telecaster owner/player

Designed by the Legendary King of the Blues himself, B.B. King, the Lucille is similar to the 335 semi-hollowbody,but without "F" holes.
