Godin ACS Limited Edition Nylon String Semi-acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Godin ACS Limited Edition Nylon String Semi-acoustic Electric Guitar

I ordered this guitar to give me a spare for my Multiac ACS that I bought used about a year ago. I only paid $100 more for this one new. The guitars play almost identically. Whatever Godin is doing, they're doing it right. My main electric for many years is a Godin, and it plays like a dream as well.
Can't recommend them enough. The Amazon vendor - Music Farm - gave me a great deal, too. Guitar arrived within just a few days, in perfect shape. I'm happy.

The ACS blends a traditional classical approach with modern solid-body touches. The incredibly comfortable neck is joined to a chambered silverleaf maple body and highly figured flamed maple leaf top for stunning looks in this synth access guitar. Although the body is chambered, response from the maple top is more typical of a solid body design than that of a traditional acoustic guitar. This design results in an instrument that is virtually free of feedback, making it easy to use even when the band gets loud. The engine in the ACS-SA includes individual transducer saddles powered by a customized preamp system from the RMCTM Pickup Company. This system not only produces superb amplified sound, but also produces a hexaphonic output through a 13-pin connector enabling direct access to RolandTM GR-Series guitar synthesizers.

B.C. Rich Mockingbird Exotic Classic Electric Guitar, Spalted Maple Review

B.C. Rich Mockingbird Exotic Classic Electric Guitar, Spalted Maple

After trying out several guitars in this price range (including the imported Paul Reed Smith models) this guitar absolutely blew me away! The detail and workmanship is immaculate (this is a beauty!) and the pickups REALLY rock! If you play hard rock or metal you will love this guitar. I only wish it came with the option of a case. I gave it a 4 rating because it needed some minor adjustments out of the box. Just string heighth as they were TOO low. But adjusted the action is still low and fast!

Takamine G Series G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar Review

Takamine G Series G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This little guitar is fantastic. I'm a professional guitar teacher, a performing artist, and a guitarist that just likes to have a little fun with what he does and the New Yorker is everything I need and more. I was going to put a grand down on a Taylor, but this one stole my heart. Beautiful tone, great playability, and it's custom made for fingerstyle enthusiasts like myself (my specialty at work, on stage, and in the studio). The back is made up of two stunning pieces of rosewood and one gorgeous piece of quilted maple. The abalone is authentic and expertly inlayed. The bindings are made of real wood instead of cheap plastic. Even higher end guitars have plastic bindings. The neck is smooth and fast and the strings respond to anything I wish to throw at them. From foggy mountain break down, to Steve Howe's Mood for a day, to more mellow pieces like Baby Mine, this guitar does it all. My only suggestion, as with all guitars that don't already have them, is to add a quality set of Grover tuners, which I will be doing shortly. Mine has an incredibly slight buzz that will be taken care of as soon as it has been set up by an expert. It's so insignificant that I'm usually the only one who notices it, even when played in front of other highly skilled musicians. For $400 the New Yorker simply cannot be beat. It's the perfect addition to any fingerstyle guitarist's collection, and at that price it would be a stellar first instrument that the owner would never grow out of.
I urge anyone who's interested to play it for themselves and make up their own mind about it. Just because it won out over a Taylor for me, doesn't mean it will for someone else.

Epiphone Lefty G-400 SG Collection Electric Guitar, Cherry Review

Epiphone Lefty G-400 SG Collection Electric Guitar, Cherry
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've wanted an SG for quite some time. I was going to get a Gibson SG, but figured I'd start with an Epiphone first to see that I liked enough about it to get the Gibson. For the price, this is a well built and designed guitar. As a guitarist of 20+ years, the first thing I do with any guitar is put MY strings on it and set it up to my liking (any review that includes a guitar's set up "right out of the box" is not relevant to a review as each player requires different set ups).
My favorite guitar in my collection is my Epiphone Les Paul standard, so I was comparing every step of the way with the SG to that. Obvious differences aside, the Epiphone SG satisfies me greatly and I'll be using it in all of my music. The body is light and comfy, sharp design. Grover tuners do a good job. The pickups sound really good and, of course, if you're looking for clarity and "umph" comparable to a Gibson you'd want to drop new pickups in the Epiphone. I'm leaving mine in. If the guitar is set up properly it provides a nice balance in tone across the board.
The craftsmanship is very good. Inlays are nice and clean, all screws are straight, neck joint solid, and the finish is beautiful. All moving parts are solid and tight, in great working order. I have no complaints about this guitar.
So, if you're looking for a great guitar at a great price, and want to give a little shout out to Angus Young, Toni Iommi, or Pepper Keenan, go for the Epiphone SG-400. As I pointed out, this is my second Epiphone and I can say that their guitars are very sturdy and dependable.
Enjoy!

A true icon guitar, the SG was originally a successor Les Paul model from '61 to '68. This edition of the prized 1962 SG boasts the power and merciless sustain you expect to shake you all night long. It's constructed of a Mahogany neck glued into a Mahogany body with twin Alnico Classic Humbucking pickups.

The Power and Merciless Sustain You Expect.

Angled Headstock Unlike cheaper designs, all Epiphones feature a 14-degree headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut and so you get more sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets.
Double-Waxed Pickups Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures optimum performance. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is put in place to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax.
Output Jack To increase reliability and ensure consistent performance, Epiphone's proprietary output jacks feature an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel.
Toggle Switches All Epiphones feature our all-metal, USA designed switches for reliable contact and longer life.
Tunomatic Bridge Fully adjustable, the tunomatic remains a classic after over 50 years. Unlike guitars fitted with tremolos, there are no tuning or re-stringing difficulties. Plus, tone and sustain are improved because all string vibrations are transferred directly to the guitar.
Potentiometers Epiphone is passionate about performance. That's why their instruments use one-inch diameter potentiometers for better "throw," longer life and reliable service.
Quick-Connectors For unequalled reliability as well as ease of service, Epiphone wiring harnesses feature quick-connectors.

Schecter Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar (Black Cherry, Left Handed) Review

Schecter Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar (Black Cherry, Left Handed)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Compared to other guitars I've played, neck feels comfortable, particularly at higher notes, intonation is pretty good with help from locking tuners, EMG noise-cancelling scheme works like a charm, for this guitar has very low humming. Body-thru string attachment improves sustain a lot.

Humbucker/Single-Coil switching allows for some fine tonal subtleties, although you can't expect
the single-coil mode to sound bright-crisp as others would. Nevertheless, this axe can be played without any DSP yielding very good tone, which renders it versatile enough to play a variety of genres.
Finnish is top-notch with ubiquitous attention to detail. Shape is beautiful. Color is striking.
For all these qualities I've received compliments from bandmates and our guitar techie.

This buy is spot-on.

be careful- this is a bogner design built by line6. Read the blogs, line6 has very poor support for their products! Also, After blowing a few fuses and having a little peak at the organs, I found many connections that were tweaked with the use of a glue-gun. It was sold as new but I question that now! Do your research. I decided to return it and purchase a kit andbuild my own!

Alchemist' spins the visions of discerning guitarists into gold.Boasting sparkling, articulate cleans, touch-sensitive leads and a bright and colorful crunch, the all-tube Alchemist is a modern take on vintage amp design. Its remarkable tonality it owes to a 6L6 class-AB power section, featuring five 12AX7 preamp tubes and premium Celestion speakers. Its timeless appeal, though, it owes to classic innovation, modern ingenuity and its namesake, an entrancing ancient mysticism. Alchemist exhibits a two-channel design, each channel with its own voice and identity. Beginning clean and fast, featuring an open top-end and tight bottom-end, Channel 1 opens gradually to present simmering blues tones that churn like spirits in a cauldron. Advancing toward saturation, Crunch mode turns up the heat adding the perfect touch of nastiness with added pick response and increased tonal complexity. Channel 2, achieving critical mass, invokes the famous white-hot Bogner gain-creamy, modern and screaming with sustain-offering everything from Brit rock right through to modern metal. Plus, with variable Bright settings, each channel can be customized to match the tone of your guitar and rig.Featuring a selectable power section, from 40 to 20 watts, the Alchemist sonority quickly transforms to display a very different kind of magic. When switched to 20 watts, Alchemist undergoes a complete sonic metamorphosis, changing its harmonic complexity and feel to conjure the essence of the legendary Brown sound.Reverb and Delay, in variable styles and levels, run in parallel separate from the original signal. The result is a rich, living and breathing, fully realized resonance capable of producing a complete tonal landscape. Alchemist also includes a four-button footswitch and a parallel effects loop.

Squier by Fender Deluxe Strat Hot Rails, Black Review

Squier by Fender Deluxe Strat Hot Rails, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been playing for over 15 years and I started off with an original 1982 Fenders Strat American Standard. Is this axe on par with the original? In my opinion, absolutely!
Right of the box the intonation acceptable, the low E and A is a bit sharp, but barely. The pick up hieght needed to be adjusted. String hieght needed to be raised (I play with .012-.052). These adjustments are common with "new" guitars.
The tone is unbelieveable, I was amazed on how well each note rang out, I was plugged straight into a line 6 35w spider 12in. The pick-ups have such a strong output that when I plugged into my cheap zoom 505 I had to adjust the settings because it was overdriving the unit, my current guitar is a Samick Greg Bennett design HSS, this guitar blows that one out of the water. The tone is absolutely amazing.
This guitar is somewhat heavy feeling for a squire, it does not feel cheap, for an idonesian made guitar it feels like it's worth 5x more. I truely recommend this guitar to anyone, novice or pro. The only difference between this and my '82 Fender is the lack of the micro tilt neck on the squire.

Versatile and high-performance, the Deluxe Hot Rails Strat guitar has traditional Fender vibe to spare, but under the hood you'll find modern hot-rod mods topped by three fearsome Duncan Designed' HR-101 pickups (a single-coil-size version of high-output Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucking pickups) for full sound and near-eternal sustain.

I tried this on a Guitar Center store, next to $1200 guitars imported from Spain, and I've got to tip my hat to the Yamaha. It's got the flamenco sound right of the bat. Next to it, I couldn't tell the difference between another expensive 'flamenco' guitar from an expensive classical. The CG171SF seems to have its own peculiar flamenco sound. Really low action (great for falsettas), and it can get loud at the same time. Feels pretty light which makes you think it'll break! Highly recommended.

Wow...I'm surprised there aren't any reviews on this guitar..There are many on musicians friend and guitar center websites though. Well, I have had this guitar for about 2 years now and I must say it is the best guitar I have! It's my favorite and I'll have it for many, many years. I play in our church's praise band and this guitar is robust, full and rings out like a bell! I'm not going to get technical in my review but more emotional. This guitar sounds, feels & plays like a gem! It's so beautiful...feels solid and produces an incredible tone! The expression system is the best and for a fairly high end, all wood guitar you can't lose with this one! I shopped around for quite a while before I settled on this one and have been very pleased! The guitar actually sounds better as it "opens up" with age. So for you Taylor people or even non-Taylor give this one a try and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Comes with a beautiful dark brown hardshell case and a beautiful glossy finish. The wood is so beautiful & the abalone inlays are top notch! This is one pretty instrument but a workhorse too! Loud and a pure tonemaster!

Introduced in 2006, the Grand Symphony body is an original design from top to bottom--and the first new Taylor shape in over a decade. It was a hit right out of the gate. Expect acoustic power in every note, with deep piano-like bass, rich mids, clear and balanced highs, and plenty of volume. With a Sitka spruce top, the GS8 has an added touch of crispness to big, bold tone of its rosewood sides and back.

Taylor's Grand Symphony ShapeThe Grand Symphony (GS) is the first original shape from Bob Taylor since he unveiled the Grand Auditorium (GA) in 1995. Though you might see similarities to a GA, the GS is unique in both sound and design. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper, more piano-like bass. The waist is moved a bit higher, and is 3/8 of an inch wider. The result is a reduction in the "pinching" of the waist, which releases more tonal output from the guitar. Finally, the lower bout is expanded, making it feel slightly rounder. They're subtle changes that yield a far-from-subtle change in tone. Complementing the robust bass from the GS body, volume and low-end sustain are full, rich mids and clear, balanced highs. The GS is a unique sound and a new dimension in Taylor tone.
Features Taylor's original Grand Symphony body shape.

This is a great amp. I played a Crate before this and I have to say the sound is so much better. It may be the Celestion speakers, but with two 12in speakers the sound is so full. I play a Fender Strat and an Epiphone Les Paul. They both sound great through this amp. It even fell down the stairs and it still works rocks. Its build like a tank! If you are thinking about this amp trust me you should buy it. Its got great clean tones sort of like a Fender with out the glassy tone and a distortion like a Peavey with out the noise or mud. I love it and you could too.

I am very surprised and amazed at the quality of the Gold Top Epiphone 56 Les Paul. I own 20 guitars and this one feels "Right" and sounds like a Les Paul should. It replaced a 71 Gibson Gold Top, and frankly, it is lighter, the former was a boat anchor, and plays better. It is possible that I just got lucky, but the last 2 epiphones I bought were also superior to the last Gibson I bought which was an SG. Guess what I play everyday...? the Epiphone, I really don't care what the name on the headstock says nor do I care what Gibson snobs think. I have been playing guitar since 1967, you do the math.

Let me preface this by saying.....aside from the Texas Special pickups....THIS IS ESSENTIALLY A HIGHWAY ONE WITH POLY COATING!!!!!! Fender's not-so-clever marketing nonsense!
That's not a bad thing....I LOVE Highway One's!
This is not saying I don't like these guitars.....I do....I own one of the American Specials....and 8 (!!!??!!) Highway One Stratocaster HSS's.
Here's my complaint. The pickups and the tuners totally S-U-C-K!!!!!
Fender's Atomic humbucker is weak, toneless, and ball-less!
The Texas Specials are O-K......but you STILL have that inherent 60 cycle hum that has been a thorn in the side of Strat players from day ONE!! Noiseless single coil pickups....(there are PLENTY of really EXCELLENT ones out there)...are the answer!
All is not lost. This is one well built, good looking, toneful piece of wood!
Unfortunately I had to sink another $300.00 into the guitar in pickups, tuners, and saddles to get where it is actually PLAYABLE to me!
By all means...buy this guitar! But if you're like me....and you want a bit MORE out of your guitar....meaning.. NOISELESS performance and a excellent humbucker sound....you'll have to put a couple of dollars more into it!
Get one.....and 'do it up' YOUR way...with YOUR choice of premium pickups and such....you'll have a GREAT guitar!!

This was my Christmas present to myself last year & my wife is jealous. She is tired of me saying "I love this guitar"! Read all the reviews that I could find online and when I went to the 2 local music stores (SA & GC) they didn't have any to play, so I bought without playing. Since it arrived, it has lived up to everything I've read. Right out of the box the appearance is rich with the gold tuners, pearl inlays (I have the sunburst finish). The sound is beatiful, warm, sustaining...and with the hole cover & A.R.T. system, I can plug into the amp & not worry about feedback. Use to play out quite regularly before the kids, but then took a 10 yr. hiatus. We've gotten 'the band back together' for a few gigs the past yr or so & have some coming up so I can't wait to play this puppy live! The onboard tuner & EQ are sweet and allow me to control everything at the guitar, not having to go back & forth to my amp. I would highly recommend for the money. I've played with the Martins & Taylors in the $1500 range & this is definitely of that class of quality. You won't be disappointed!Yamaha CPX900 Acoustic Electric Guitar, Brown Burst
