It beat out similar offerings from Ovation, Epiphone, Takamine, Yamaha, and Fender. I don't like the electric guitar offerings from Dean, but the acoustic side is a completely different story. The guitar is stunningly good looking, you could hang it on the wall as a piece of art. Fit and finish are excellent. Soundwise, I only had to make a minor change to the truss rod to get rid of some minor fret buzz (there are instructions and a tool included for this). It comes with D'Addario strings. The neck is on the thinner side and the action is fast and low like an electric guitar. Unplugged, the sound is balanced and crisp wihout being tinny. Through a practice Marshall amp, it lacks bass and I needed to peg the lower eq setting to +10 but it sounds fine now. I was using the 1/4" jack but it also has a balanced jack for hooking directly to a PA. Also has a in/out phase switch if you want more of a resonator guitar sound (bluegrass music). The tuner works well and a packaged battery is included in the battery compartment but you have to plug it in. Using the tuner mutes the guitar output to the amp. All in all, this is an excellent guitar for the beginning or intermediate player.
