This is my first electric guitar. I've been playing acoustic on a Fender acoustic for about 15yrs and never had the time to try electric. The sound is great and the guitar is feels good and seems to be decent quality. Much nicer than one would expect for a beginner's guitar. Definitely worth the price.

The Squier Standard Stratocaster plays great, with traditional vibe and modern feel. Player-friendly features like the slimmer neck and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard make for easier playing, and the die-cast tuners are lifetime-lubricated for years of trouble-free service and tuning stability. A twin-pivot bridge with satin-anodized saddles provides smooth tremolo action, and the single-coil alnico pickups sound great!

Behringer Vintager Electric Guitar Package
You can usually find this product cheaper than the listed [...] price if you look around online. That being said, this kit is great for the price. Sure the guitar isn't the greatest, but the amp alone usually retails for nearly the price you can find this whole kit online. I already owned a guitar and just wanted a real tube amp, so I bought this package since I was essentially getting the guitar and accessories as a freebie. If you go into it with that thinking, you'll be very happy with your purchase. I wouldn't recommend the guitar as a primary instrument, however, unless you are just starting out on guitar. It's a fine beginner type guitar.

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Stratocaster 60s, 3 Tone Sunburst Review

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Stratocaster 60s, 3 Tone Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I already love the Classic Vibe Series from Squier. I already have the Custom Tele and love the quality, feel and sound of the guitar. This is a great guitar with a unique sound... here's why...
The Build
This guitar is a quality built guitar. 2 Pieces of Alder with amazing quality to the Sunburst finish. It is a gorgeous guitar body. The neck is a thin C-shape with a unique design. It is glossy and thinner than the C-Shaped Mexican Strat Necks or the US Strat Necks. The medium-jumbo frets on the rosewood neck have no sharp edges and seem perfectly installed. The guitar came in the box, perfectly set up, although I needed to set the pickup heights a little differently and change the intonation a little with the bridge saddles. (This should be expected on almost any guitar.) There were a few dinks on the fretboard from the factory, but nothing that affects play at all.
The Hardware
The Tuners are vintage tuners that I have seen on some Us Strats and even the Kenny Wayne Signature Mexican Strat. They stay in tune perfectly well and seem like a great quality. The Bridge and saddles seem to be a good quality. The trem has a zinc trem block that seems less than the quality that I would want. I'm not sure why they don't have a higher quality stainless block.
The Electronics
The Pickups are Alnico and sound great. (remember that the stock Fender Bullet Strings are garbage and need to be changed.) Throw some decent strings on it and you will find that the pickups are fantastic. Tons of character from the notch settings. You get great Strat Spank and quack with a great sound. What surprises me in a huge way is the sustain. This guitar sustains way better than ANY Strat US or MExican that I have ever tried. (I assume that this is a combination of the quality build, the Hardware and the Electronics.)
The Sound
This guitar has a fantastic unique sound. Playing through several amps, this guitar sounded high quality through all of them. You will not find any Squier that has this kind of quality sound and sustain. Not even the Mexican Made Strats have this great sound. The older MIM strats all have ceramic pickups that are no good. This strat has high quality ALNICO pickups.
The Feel
The neck is thin, and if you like a thin neck this guitar feels amazing. I love the feel of this guitar. If you blindfolded me, I might pick the feel of this guitar over any strat that I have ever played.
Overall
You won't find a Strat with such a high quality and interesting sound as good for this price anywhere. If you like the sound and feel, you should feel lucky to find a guitar for this price. I could play this onstage or with any amp and be happy with the sound and sustain.
My guess about this guitar is that they had the China Squier factory use top quality parts and has developed a better quality control system to make these guitars more consistently good.
I love these guitars. Mine is easily becoming my favorite strat to hear, feel and play.

The rough-and-tumble Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s evokes that musically adventurous decade, with a few modern features added. The alder body has a Three-color Sunburst or Candy Apple Red finish; the '60s-era vintage-tint gloss-maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium-jumbo frets and a modern 9.5" radius. The thick tone comes from the alnico V single-coil pickups-quick attack with a bit more midrange force and a knockout bridge pickup. Custom staggered polepieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

You can't go wrong with this guitar. It is a high quality instrument and for the money I don't think it can be beat. Don't let the fact that it's not US made turn you away from such a great sound and great value. I'm using it for acoustic rock, blues and fingerpicking and it's just got terrific projection whether strumming using a pick or softly fingerpicking.

With a solid Engelmann spruce top, multilayered mahogany/padauk reinforced neck, and ebony fretboard, the Yamaha LL16 acoustic guitar can be judged an excellent deal on materials alone. Yet where this dreadnought really shines is on the strength of its handcrafted construction by expert Japanese luthiers. Every step in the creation of this excellent instrument, from tonewood selection to hand-sanding the frets, is done in a small factory by master craftsmen.Body topMost manufacturers are using Sitka spruce tops for their high end models. In Yamaha's experience, Engelmann spruce (Canada) naturally suits the role for top woods better than any other. The overriding quality for body top material is an allowance for resonance and Engelmann spruce has this attribute in abundance. It is a light wood that is easy to work and enables a good tone response with a wide harmonic range. Visually Engelmann spruce is comfortable on the eye and its opaque light yellow tint is reminiscent of a mature acoustic instrument. Back & sideYamaha uses solid rosewood for both the back and sides on all the LL16. The rosewood blends extremely well with the Engelmann spruce top. It disperses resonance evenly and effortlessly.Neck blockThe neck block reinforces the neck joint. Yamaha has improved the conventional C block design by enlarging the surface area that is in contact with the top of the guitar. The block securely meets the underside of the top adding a real depth to the tone of the instrument.BracingX-bracing maps out the vibration patterns of the guitar. Each of the eight braces has been carefully positioned in order to bring out the tone in a balanced fashion and find a natural harmony with the guitar's tone woods.Multilayered reinforced neckTraditionally, an acoustic guitar neck is carved from a single timber block. As the grain of the timber has to be angled at about 14 degrees to accommodate the headstock, it leaves itself vulnerable to excessive stress. To alleviate the potential o

Squier by Fender Stop Dreaming-Start Playing Set: Affinity Strat HSS w/ G, DEC Jr, Black Review

Squier by Fender Stop Dreaming-Start Playing Set: Affinity Strat HSS w/ G, DEC Jr, Black
Average Reviews:

Ok, lets get this straight, it's a starter guitar, not a $1500 American Deluxe or a $2500 Gibson Les Paul. However if you are just getting started and not sure of your guitar playing commitment, the Fender Squier is an excellent choice. It is well built and as full featured as a starter guitar can be. I purchased the Fender Squier Starter Pack (not Starcaster) about two years ago and have not regretted it. With the GDec Jr amp, this kit is about $350. The less expensive Squier kit with a less capable amp, (which as a beginner may not be that important to you) is $199.
The GDec advantage is its ability to produce more sounds. In either case, it is a good quality guitar. If possible, it is always better if you can listen to a guitar before purchase. The Fender has been a good choice for me.

Dean Performer Mini Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Classic Black Review

Dean Performer Mini Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Classic Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for a good guitar in this price range and had narrowed it down between the Ibanez AEL10EBK and the Dean Performer E Acoustic Electric Guitar. They seemed pretty equivalent from their description. Originally I had decided on the Ibanez because it had an established name (I never heard of Dean) and the pickup it used was an established brand ( a Fishman Sonicore). By contrast the Dean had it's own pickup which I knew nothing about. I was about to buy the Ibanez but I wanted to hear it first. I went to a local music store and took it down to try out. To my surprise it sounded very shallow, wooden, and muddy. There was very little resonance to the instrument. It sounded almost like a solid body guitar. When you strum all the strings at the same time it sounds muddled. I plugged in the Ibanez and found it sounded the same way. It was muddled. You didn't hear the individual strings. Just an overall "blahhh". As it happens, another music store down the street had the Dean Performer E so just for kicks I went there to try it out. I was shocked by how beautiful it sounded for such an inexpensive guitar. The instrument resonated. You could hear each string brightly and clearly. When plugged into an amp the sound was bright, and full. I also found that the Dean had an "on-board" tuner with a graphic LED output that allowed you to tune the guitar instantly. This tuner is actually one of the best I have ever used. It tells you exactly when the string is in tune. It doesn't bounce around all over the place like other tuners I've used. I found from this experience that "name" isn't everything. Sometimes products from an established and well known company can under-perform newcommers. In this case that is exactly what I found. Needless to say I bought the Dean and have been very happy with it since.

Epiphone EB-0 Short-Scale Bass Performance Pack Review

Epiphone EB-0 Short-Scale Bass Performance Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A Bass problem Solved.
Many basses Particularly the Epiphone Eb-0 and Gibson EB basses.. But other basses also can have this problem especially short scaled ones. The problem is when the cotton or metal windings are resting over the bridge saddle. I have searched extensively over the internet and found no easy solution that would not require machine tooling and hard to find parts. What you need is a spacer that will go down the strings...and will stop at the Ball / Ring end. I came up with a very easy fix that anyone can do.. All you need are Steel 8-32 Nut's. The Type a screw goes into. The Size is based in USA.. So foreign sized may be different.. If so just bring you "E" string to you hardware store and try out different sizes until you land one that fits as I initially did. I found I only needed one or 2 nut's and that moved back the windings so only the string part rested on the Saddle. The mount of nut's needed may vary depending on the type of strings so just in case buy 5 nut per string and your covered. They cost less than 10 cents each. As a result intonation was perfect and the action and tonal qualities sounded correct and made a huge difference in the overall sound as a big Improvement.
If using an Epiphone EB0 bass I spoke with Epiphone to find out the Gauge strings the Bass was designed and setup for: They told me to use: E: .105 A: .080 D: .065 G: .045 .
If buying a new Epiphone please trust me one this.. Change the strings!!! I could not find and exact match but the closest I found in gauge were all the same except for the A string being .085 in a set of Ernie Ball Hybrid slinky roundwounds - which worked perfectly.. The intonation did not go off on the A string.
Hope this Helps as an easy fix that will make your bass sound vastly improved. Remember the cotton or cloth or metal winding should never rest or touch the saddle.. And should always be well behind it. This fix is cheap and an easy fix!!
Hope this helps!

Gibson J-45 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst Review

Gibson J-45 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is quite simply THE sound for an acoustic guitar. It is an instrument with no challengers. I can not ever imagine playing something else as my main guitar after using this for a couple of days. For one thing, it is the loudest acoustic guitar I've ever played and has incredible projection without losing anything in clear pristine tone. To me, it is the ultimate singer / songwriter guitar.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Gibson J-45 Custom Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst

The legendary J-45 clearly defines the storied legacy of Gibson acoustics. Without question, the J-45 is one of the most beloved and played acoustic guitars in the history of modern music, and the icon of Gibson's round-shoulder dreadnought acoustic line ever since its introduction in 1942. Today, it stands proudly as Gibson's number one-selling acoustic, and in recognition of this distinguished rank Gibson Acoustic presents the J-45 Custom--one of the most elegant and best-sounding versions of this classic model ever produced by Gibson Acoustic's master craftsmen in Bozeman, Mont. Combining vintage appointments with several modern features, the J-45 Custom delivers the model's renowned tone while adding a new, refined appearance that complements its fundamental design, including a brand new floral and vine abalone pearl headstock inlay designed by Gibson master luthier Ren Ferguson. The J-45 Custom is available in the model's original Vintage Sunburst finish and Antique Natural.

J-45 Custom.
Traditional Gibson Logo and New Headstock Inlay Design The Gibson name has graced the most innovative and revolutionary acoustic guitars of our time, including the J-45 Custom. There is no mistaking the classic block logo, inlaid in beautiful mother of pearl, representing more than a century of originality and excellence. There is simply no equal. The headstock also features a new flower and vine abalone pearl inlay designed by Gibson Acoustic's longtime master luthier, Ren Ferguson. The elegance and stunning detail of this new hand-engraved figured design gives the J-45 Custom a distinct identity, ensuring its rightful place among the finest Gibson designs of the past.
Gold Grover Rotomatic Tuners Grover's original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel, with style and performance exactly suited for the J-45 Custom. With a gear ratio of 14:1, the Rotomatics deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing, eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets players regulate the tuning tension to any degree. A special lubricant inside the gear box provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.
Pickguard The pickguard for theJ-45 Custom is Gibson's standard fire stripe tortoise tear drop shape, exactly as it appeared on the very first J-45 in 1942. As with all of Gibson's pickguards, the coloring, inlay, and binding are all done by hand.
L.R. Baggs Element Active Acoustic Pickup System The J-45 Custom comes equipped with the popular Element Active Acoustic Pickup System from L.R. Baggs, which features a low-profile undersaddle element--or transducer--that's proven more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Combined with an onboard preamp with an unobtrusive and removable volume control mounted just inside the soundhole, the Element delivers performance not previously attainable from an undersaddle pickup. Its sleek and effective design removes unnecessary internal components to enhance the coupling between the pickup and the guitar and improve the sensitivity of the transducer for a robust, lively and natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and delicate high end. The Element works with a standard 9V battery, which is housed inside the guitar in L.R. Bagg's new "Battery Bagg."
Tapered Dovetail Neck Joint The dovetail neck joint is one of the oldest--and best--ways of securely joining the neck to the body of a guitar. It is also a complex and expensive neck joint to build, but the result is a tight, locking connection that supports the neck at the proper neck-pitch angle, allowing the body and neck to become one solid piece of resonating wood, with no metal to impede vibration. This process is done entirely by hand, requiring patience and skill.
Body Tonewoods The top of the J-45 Custom is made from AA-grade Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from pattern-grade Indian rosewood, giving the model the same full, balanced expression, warm bass, and excellent projection that earned the original J-45 its much-heralded reputation. Selecting the right wood, and the formula to dry it out, are two of the most central procedures to Gibson's guitar-building process. Beginning with its first catalog in 1903, Gibson has assured its customers that every guitar would be built using woods with "the most durable, elastic, and sonorous qualities," and today's guitars from Gibson Acoustic are no different.
Abalone Rosette A rosette is the beautiful, hand-crafted circle around the soundhole, and can be one of the most ornamental elements of any acoustic guitar. It is also one of the most subtle and complicated woodworking decorations on any acoustic guitar. The rosette on the J-45 Custom is one of Gibson's finest. It is a double-ring rosette with an abalone-filled middle. The main ring consists of seven-ply binding, and the second ring is three-ply binding, adding a stylish, understated elegance to the J-45 Custom.
Bracing Every acoustic guitar made by Gibson features hand-scalloped, radiused top bracing inside the body, a feature normally found only in limited run, hand-made guitars. By scalloping each brace by hand, the natural sound of the acoustic is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the instrument's sound projection. The J-45 Custom features a variation of Gibson's "X" bracing pattern situated behind the soundhole, with a set of tall and thin braces for the back, and scalloped tall and thin braces for the top. This legendary bracing design delivers a balanced expression, with punchy, deep lows, warm mids, and clear, crisp highs. It also projects a natural compression, which helps the J-45 Custom blend nicely with any accompaniment.

Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a lower-cost beginners guitar to start teaching myself. I chose this Mitchell for the Acoustic/Electric versatility, the phenomenal sound resonation, and the low action.
The sound rivals some of the lower end Taylors or Martins, for a fraction of the cost. It's easy for me to make it sound good since the action is so low, which means that the strings only rest slightly off the neck of the guitar. Great for beginners who don't have finger strength to play barre chords.
I have only plugged it in once or twice, but both times, the on board mini-amp has volume and hi/low levels, which get the job done. No cool effects on board, but I'm just a beginner trying to learn the basics of guitar theory.
Overall phenomenal guitar for beginners, also a great travel guitar for those with more experience, it won't let you down either.

Yamaha Gigmaker Electric Guitar Package, Metallic Blue Review

The Yamaha Pacifica is a nice guitar for a beginner or as a "knock-around". The amp is ok, again good for knocking around without worrying about busting up expensive gear. Price for this setup is great. The electronic tuner in the kit is not that great - it reports bogus notes until you are within about a 1/2 step (i.e. showed "A" until it suddenly jumped to "E-flat").
