I didnt buy this here (AMS actually), but i thought i'd leave my review of this guitar. It has a big sound and tone reminiscent of a lower end Taylor or upper end Martin, but without the price tag. The pre-amp is pretty good, and comes with phase and chorus, plus a built in tuner. Plus, it is a really nice looking guitar. All in all, if you have the opportunity, grab one. It's well worth the $400 or so you will pay (pretty much has a $1000 guitar sound).

Breedlove Passport Plus OM/CMe, H-H Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own a Breedlove American Series and Pro Series guitar, and I wanted to have a smaller body as a travel-beater guitar. I'd ordered the least expensive C200/SMP (blemished) from another vendor but to my luck, they had run out and offered me an incredible deal when I asked about the Passport Plus OM/CMe. Intonation is spot on and the setup from Breedlove is perfect. VERY EASY to play. I really don't expect many issues from Breedlove instruments... even the ones that are made in Korea. The sound is a lot bigger than what I'd expect from an OM size guitar.
This little wonder holds its own against guitars three times its price. Makes a great full size travel guitar or for those who just want a great sounding value OM!

Norman Encore B20 High Gloss Guitar Review

Norman Encore B20 High Gloss Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our nonprofit, Guitars in the CLassroom, receives donations of guitars for use with the teachers we instruct; among those we receive, Godin provides us with the best guitars from the companies who support us, Kaman, Martin (yes, Martin!), Saga, etc. This B20 just came back from a teacher to whom we had loaned it for her use in the Classroom with her students, as she has now purchased her own - probably not as amazing as this loaner was! When I played it, I was blown away with the power and tone....and the construction detail was superb (and I assume we are getting Blems or 2nds....but I can't tell what the defect might be.) Buy one of these, and revel in what a true large acoustic can do for both group singing and recording. What a sweet guitar! Thanks Godin....

The B20 is the foundation of all the Norman guitars. The solid spruce top and lacquer finish alone distinguish this guitar. The three-layer laminate of cherry wood used in the back and sides of the B20 produces a tone that sounds warmer than maple but brighter than a mahogany guitar. The B20's tone works beautifully for recording and blends nicely when amplified on stage.

Martin 000-15 M Review

Martin 000-15 M
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Sometimes less is more, as in the case with Martin's 000-15m. This is a bare bones auditorium size guitar which rests comfortably in the players' arms. The shape and look give it a vintage quality right off the workshop floor. The fretboard is wider than dreadnought size guitars, which makes fingerstyle playing very smooth. The sound is what makes this guitar such a winner though: clear, rich, and bright, with overtones galore. I got mine without a pick-up, so if I intend to record with it I'll use a mic.

Exceptional tone, exciting playability and classic Martin good looks. The Martin 00015M Acoustic Guitar looks like it came right out of the history books and it delivers a sound for the ages. The company still embraces design techniques introduced many years ago to create their guitars' timeless tone. The Martin 00015M offers a perfect blend of vintage features and modern technology to create an acoustic guitar of exceptional tone, playability and classic Martin good looks. Back, sides and top are bookmatched solid genuine mahogany with A-frame Sitka Spruce X-bracing and a traditional maple bridge-plate. The 14-fret neck—also genuine mahogany—is joined with an East Indian rosewood fingerboard and headplate. The traditional rosewood belly-bridge is fitted with a bone saddle, and the nut is fashioned from bone as well. The Martin 000-15M is embellished with a dark mahogany stain and a satin lacquer finish. Yamaha FS720S Acoustic Guitar, Natural Review

Yamaha FS720S Acoustic Guitar, Natural
Average Reviews:

My step-son and I decided to take guitar lessons and soon after decided to go get a guitar for my birthday. We talked to the salesman at guitar center who explained the differences between a few models. This one was labeled as folk guitar meaning it has a narrower waist- it also has a solid spruce top rather than laminate. For us the narrow waist felt natural and light. The second the salesman played it, we could hear the obvious difference that the spruce made, it sounded vibrant and bright. I can't say enough about how much we love this guitar. GREAT buy for the money.

The heritage of Yamaha guitars begins with the FG line of acoustic guitars. Choice woods, the finest craftsmanship and a smaller folk style body make the FS720S an individual alternative to the larger bodied FG. Precise, smooth response and a sweet, focused tone make this a great choice for recording or fingerpicking.

Art & Lutherie Ami Nylon String Cedar Guitar Review

Art and Lutherie Ami Nylon String Cedar Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To the eye: It's a great looking guitar for sure, with REAL rosette inlays on a gorgeous cedar top. It would look great hung up on a wall, or sitting in a corner - good since you will not want to put it away, ever.
To the ear: Intonation is dead on, and the tone on this is absolutely even up and down the entire fretboard, with excellent clarity and separation of the individual notes. The parlor size doesn't provide much bass, but it's not tinny at all, and it is much louder than you'd expect. It is not a baby or travel guitar sound, but definitely a real parlor sound with good projection and that tight clarity you would expect.
To the hands: the modern neck has a sort of hybrid feel - with the seeming acres of classical fretboard, but a thinner depth than most old classicals (it has an adjustable truss rod). I generally play steel strings (30 years), but I just can't put this little nylon beauty down (the somewhat thinner neck might be part of it), and it's increased my playing by hours and hours a week. It's a great player for just... playing. In a word: Comfortable.
To the wallet: Handmade in Canada by the same people who make the Seagulls I believe. At $300, I think it's just a ridiculous deal, and a value that can't help but appreciate over time. Buy it, play it for 10 years, sell it for a profit.
To the Devil's Advocate: It does have gold/pearloid tuners. I hate gold hardware and I hate pearloid, so they'll be leaving us soon.... YMMV

Never judge a book by its cover! The Art & Lutherie Ami is modeled after the dimensions of a parlor guitar of the early 1900's. Small in stature but surprisingly large where it counts most... Tone and projection. The Ami's tone is clear and pronounced, making it a great guitar for acoustic blues, slide, folk, fingerstyle or just to simply bring a different tonal color to your next musical project. While being extremely comfortable to play and very easy to carry around because of its compact size, the Ami's amazing tone makes this guitar extremely hard to put down!

Taylor's offering in Indian rosewood, the 800 Series traces its roots to the earliest Taylors. Bob Taylor's latest design changes speak of traditional lutherie in the form of hand-set, figured maple binding--it's a gorgeous upgrade that complements the beautiful hues of rosewood and sparkling inlay work. The exquisite 814ce brings together the unmistakable tone of rosewood, true Taylor styling, and the versatility of a Grand Auditorium body. A Venetian cutaway and Expression System pickup complete the perfect picking package.

Taylor's Grand Auditorium ShapeThe Grand Auditorium was the first guitar shape designed from scratch by Bob Taylor. It was unveiled to commemorate the company's 20th Anniversary in 1994, and since then it has more than lived up to its promise. Although the GA has the width and depth of a Dreadnought, its narrower waist gives it the appearance of a smaller instrument, adds treble "zing" across the guitars tonal spectrum, sharpens the definition of individual notes, and also enables it to rest comfortably in the lap. Because Taylor removed mass from the width of the GAs braces, the guitar top moves faster, resulting in a snappy, bell-like tone. The GA is designed to be a strong fingerpicking guitar that also can handle medium strumming, and is exceptionally versatile.
Features maple binding that complements the beautiful hues of rosewood and sparkling inlay work.

This is my first new guitar. Its great and plays really nicely. i did not want to spend a fortune on a guitar and liked the look of this model. I realised that it was a guitar built to a price but i was still very impressed by its playability. I have made a few improvements. I had it professionally set up with a bone saddle and nut and replaced the strings with elixir lights, also replaced the pins with ebony. This whole process cost another $200 but boy was it worth it. Has a soft Martin like sound now with really nice highs. the action is great and I can recommend having any new guitar like this set up professionally with these few changes. Had a friend who plays well and owns a D28 around for tea. He played this guitar all night and was seriously impressed. The extra work has made this guitar sound fantastic and its deffinatly a keeper. Its also incredibly beautiful. With just these few changes has made a mediocre bargain basement laminate a real gem.

These Chinese made beauties truly uphold the Yamaha tradition of tone and build quality and for under $600. This is the tried and true recipe of Englemen spruce over rosewood back and sides with a perfectly rendered mahogany neck. These guitars (according to the dealer) undergo the Yamaha "Acoustic Equilibrium Process". The sound is deep and full with a great ringing top end and chords in all positions intonate wonderfully. In open tunings the resonance and tone colors just expand even more. I installed a K&K Pure Western Mini undersaddle transducer so i could plug in ,and again ,i can't say enough about how satisfying the tone and feel is. Equally rewarding either strummed or played fingerstyle, this guitar has what I would rate as an above average amount of natural dynamic volume range and doesn't get overly compressed when pushed hard.Intonation also remains consistent with capoing. The bottom line here is that for the price, this is an exceptional instrument. My how times have changed........

With a solid Engelmann spruce top, multilayered mahogany/rosewood reinforced neck, and ebony fretboard, the Yamaha LL6 acoustic guitar can be judged an excellent deal on materials alone. Yet where this dreadnought really shines is on the strength of its handcrafted construction by expert Japanese luthiers. Every step in the creation of this excellent musical instrument, from tonewood selection to hand-sanding the frets, is done in a small factory by master craftsmen.Body topMost manufacturers are using Sitka spruce tops for their high end models. In Yamaha's experience, Engelmann spruce from Canada naturally suits the role for top woods better than any other. The overriding quality for body top material is an allowance for resonance and Engelmann spruce has this attribute in abundance. It is a light wood that is easy to work and enables a good tone response with a wide harmonic range. Visually Engelmann spruce is comfortable on the eye and its opaque light yellow tint is reminiscent of a mature acoustic instrument. Back & sideYamaha uses rosewood for both the back and sides on all the L series models. The rosewood blends extremely well with the Engelmann spruce top. It disperses resonance evenly and effortlessly.Neck blockThe neck block reinforces the neck joint. Yamaha has improved the conventional C block design by enlarging the surface area that is in contact with the top of the guitar. The block securely meets the underside of the top adding a real depth to the tone of the instrument.BracingX-bracing maps out the vibration patterns of the guitar. Each of the eight braces has been carefully positioned in order to bring out the tone in a balanced fashion and find a natural harmony with the guitar's tone woods.Multilayered reinforced neckTraditionally, an acoustic guitar neck is carved from a single timber block. As the grain of the timber has to be angled at about 14 degrees to accommodate the headstock, it leaves itself vulnerable to excessive stress. To alleviat

Takamine ETN10C Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar With Case, Satin T Sunburst Review

Takamine ETN10C Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar With Case, Satin T Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was wanting to purchase a higher end guitar and after trying out several and listening to several on YouTube I decided to purchase this Takamine. I already own a Tak 12 string and thought the sound was incredible for the price. This one I didn't actually play until after it arrived but I watched Brad Davis try it out on YouTube as my guide. I have owned Ovation, Alvarez and Ibanez in the past and am more satisfied with Takamine. The guitar was set up perfect right out of the case. No blemishes or scratches anywhere and perfect action, very low set and a fast neck. The sound is incredible off amp as well as on. It has a very strong low end and mixes perfect with the the mids and highs. Great for strumming and picking. I couldn't believe how awesome this guitar sounds everytime I pick it up. I still play mostly without the amp and like classic rock, christian contemporary and ballads that use a classical style of play. This holds up with the best of them. It is a bit plain in appearance which is why I chose the Tobacco Burst; mine is a bit darker than the pic. The pic appears sort of orangey and mine is a bit more of a darker Tobacco Burst which I like. No pick guard and a satin finish not a gloss so the wood sounds are not impaired and will improve as the wood ages. These natural woods sound great. It has a solid cedar top and solid sapelli/mahogany back. I have alway had spruce or maple tops before and must admit the cedar sound is more to my preference for the lows. I paid $929 including the case through Amazon which is a deal since most everywhere else was $100 to $150 more. I got a better sounding guitar than Taylor or Martin puts out unless I wanted to go $1000 more and most all of their guitars in this price range were all laminates or occassionally a solid top but that was it. Very pleased with this purchase and is the best sounding acoustic I have owned yet....beats my former Ovation Legend and I loved that guitar.

Acoustic sound set free. The Takamine Natural Series ETN10CTBS was conceived to give you the biggest and widest acoustic sound possible. Features a solid cedar top, solid sapele back, a thin satin finish and no pickguard - anything that could possibly impede the vibration of the soundboard was purposely left out. The theory works. Naturals are so alive with sound that they nearly jump out of your hands. The clean and simple approach of the Naturals has been imitated by other makers, but nothing yet has compared to the purity of style - and sound - of the original. The Takamine ETN10CTBS is equipped with the warm-sounding CT4B preamp. The CT4B preamp features a 3-band graphic EQ with an extremely stable and accurate chromatic tuner. Great for non-standard and open tunings. Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
2011 purchase. I absolutely love my new 615ce. It's perfect, has a great balanced sound, strong even blend. It's amazing with finger picking and I'm finding its sweet spot for strumming. The ES electronics is bizzar. I wish I could have found more reviews that weren't promotional materials to understand the problems with this pick-up system. Maybe in time I'll find a solution... or just put a better system in the guitar. Currently the high B and E strings are louder than the rest of the strum. They stick out and make the sound unbalanced... totally unlike the amazing natural sound of the guitar. I even sent it back to Taylor for them to work on it... but it came back to me sounding pretty much the same. I would give the guitar a 5 star... but I mainly play live and plugged in... which is not enhancing the bands overall sound. OUCH. YUCK. I've put other guitars in our system and can make them beautiful sounding. I worked on the Taylor in our system for 1/2 hour and never came up with a satisfactory sound... until I put a mic on it, which then instantly made it sound the way it's supposed to. After spending so much money on a guitar, I wish it would sound on stage like it does in the privacy of the show-room or my living room... especially since that's exactly what Taylor is promoting their ES to do. I feel like I've been lied to... hood-winked. The emperor has no clothes... "It's a great system, the best." All of Taylor's promotion says in videos and written. UMMM... are you hearing the same thing I am? Please listen to the guitar in the store and check the system out first before buying... and try two or three kinds of amps just to be sure you know what your dealing with. I hope and pray my attitude about this pick-up will change over time. Maybe there is just something I'm missing that I've never missed in my 25 years of playing and sound mixing.

I bought this guitar on "Black Friday", received it within a couple of days, and have enjoyed playing since then. It is a small 000 sized body, with mahogany back and sides (laminate) and bone nut and saddle (nice touch). Very comfortable thin style neck. While no one is going to mistake it for a Martin, it's an excellent player, was set up well right out of the box, and is a terrific guitar for just picking up on the spur of the moment. I replaced the strings with a set of Elixer medium-light (slightly heavier wound strings), which helped bring out the bass a bit more. Someday I'll likely replace it with a Martin, etc., but for now it's a terrific "couch" guitar that gets picked up and played a lot.

Just a quick review...I received this guitar as a Christmas gift. I really can't say enough nice things about it. Solid spruce top and a nut and saddle made out of real bone. I am not sure how, given the low price, that they can make any money on this thing. I am really enjoying playing this guitar. One thing I noticed right out of the box is the fact that the set up on the guitar was excellent (the string height to the fret board, the feel of the neck all felt great.) Someone is paying attention to those little things. As it is an OOO-sized guitar it will not have the heavy bass response that a dreadnought sized guitar provides but the mid-ranges just jump out of this guitar! I am just amazed at what you get for the price. I can only imagine what the higher priced recording king models sound like - they have to be really nice (maybe for next Christmas!).
