Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P-94 Archtop Electric Guitar Review

Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera P-94 Archtop Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have searched for what I would consider the perfect guitar for a long time. I have had strats, teles, les pauls, jaguars, and prior to this the two guitars that felt best to me was my Gibson SG Classic and Japanese Fender Jaguar. Originally I had been looking at a Casino (always wanted a semi-hollow) and somehow stumbled across this... and if all went well I would not have to replace some crappy stock pickups. Anyways, the guitar came (bought from a different source), action was a bit high and [understandably] the guitar had extremely heavy gauge strings on it - maybe 12's but they felt like 13's to me. Anyways, I put some 10's on it, adjusted the action and intonation and am blown away. For someone looking for a quality semi-hollow on a budget like me and that records a lot while enjoying playing multiple styles that needs a versatile guitar this is GREAT. Mine was MIK if it matters to anyone - I don't like buying Chinese stuff on principle. This guitar is very versatile and can cover many genres with the exception of crushing scooped metal... matter of fact I just recorded a jazz track with it and it sounded great (normally I record and write atmospheric, ambient, guitar driven instrumentals). Gibson P-94's, Frequensator, and Grovers tuners leave little to be replaced.

The Epiphone Nick Valensi Riviera is inspired by the Strokes' guitarist's beloved '90's Riviera that is such an important part of his sound. He installed Gibson P-94 pickups in his, because of the classic super-single-coil sound that fits in a Humbucker space. We've done the sam with this model and the tonal results are equally as awesome. The body is authentic 90's Riviera 5-ply Maple semi-hollow construction with a 1-piece Mahogany neck fitted with a Tune-o-matic bridge and vintage Epiphone Frequensator split-trapeze tailpiece.Cosmetics include parallelogram fingerboard inlays with the body finished in Antique Natural.

Normandy ATGWB-SB Archtop Guitar with Bigsby, Powder Coated, School-Bus Yellow Review

i've had a normandy "school bus" since december, and i can't say enough good things. i've always had a soft spot in my heart for hollow-body guitars, but i'll admit at first i was skeptical about a metal one. but it's more than proved it's worth. i play in an irish punk rock band, which means that i go from soft melodic songs; to loud, fast, angry songs at the drop of a hat. and this guitar can definitely keep up. the best thing of all? there are no sharp edges. i used to slice my hands open at every show, and i can't find a single place that that would happen on this guitar. i do also have to mention that the model i have is the slightly older one. and there were a few (minor) things i didn't like about it (the knobs, the neck colour) and those have all been vastly improved on this model. they look great, and they play great. if you can scrape the cash together, this will definitely last you a long, long time.

Ten Reasons to Own a Normandy Guitar
The Look – From the classic arch top curves of the body, to the vintage Bigsby-vibrato tailpiece, to the distinctive rivets front and back, there is simply no other guitar like it.
The Sound – The resonant, aircraft-grade aluminum body produces smooth, warm tones that ring true and long. Sustain is increased significantly when compared to that of a conventional wooden guitar body.
The Feel –The Normandy weighs 8.6-pounds, which is roughly the same (or less) than most other electric guitars. It maintains perfect balance when on a strap, and is so accommodating that you may just be able to go at it all night.
The Durability – This is a deceivingly solid piece of equipment. You may be able to snap the neck, but the body will stand up to the most aggressive punk-inspired outbursts.
The Neck – Our maple-on-maple and rosewood-on-maple necks are shaped close to what you would find on an old-school jazz guitar – not too fat…not too thin.
The Pickups – Normandy Old School-Humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets are overwound to 12K ohms for higher output, powerful midrange and driving tone.
The Craftsmanship – Normandy Guitars are made one at a time with quality and durability as our foremost concerns; they are built to stand the test of time from one gig to the next.
The Finish – The Chrome guitar is triple-electroplated, the School Bus and Army Green guitars are powder coated using a special baked-on finish and the Candy Apple Metal Flake finishes are far superior to the standard paint, stain, or varnish typically found on guitars. Whatever the color, the appearance will outshine that of any guitar you've ever seen.
The Service – Normandy offers a warranty against defective materials and workmanship for the life of the guitar (check with the vendor for details). Normandy takes pride in every one of their instruments playing its very best right out of the box.
Add it all up – Custom, boutique styling and quality that every player can afford.

Hagstrom HL550 Electric Jazz Guitar (Black Gloss) Review

Hagstrom HL550 Electric Jazz Guitar (Black Gloss)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This guitar is absolutely gorgeous and sounds amazing. Needs the fret ends filed down, not a big deal but I kinda expect perfect "everything" after all these years as a guitar consumer. Well worth the money. Big acoustic sound, dark electric sound due to only one floating pick-up ( I'm not a jazz player). Would be 5 stars if it weren't for the fret edges.....Don't let that stop you from purchasing one. This is a great guitar!

Shipping was on time and the guitar arrived pristine in a golden-tweed hard case. I purchased the all natural spalted maple ES 335 and it is an amazing piece of workmanship. A beauty to the eyes, this guitar has a very sweet sound and the action is low and light, just the way I like it. The tuners are very fluid and precise. I consider this guitar the very best value for the money and highly recommend it to professionals as well as casual players, this is a true bargain !!

Luna Athena Semi Hollowbody Electric Guitar - White Review

and she is smoking hot.
Beautiful white with a glorious neck in the vintage art deco style. I am in love.
I just started playing guitar and I bought a cheaper decent starter guitar for my first. Kept it for a week and then bought Blanche.
I did my research on Luna and fell in love with the company and their goals. As a new female player it is awesome to find a community that supports female guitar players.
I don't know a great deal about guitars yet, but I do know that the Athena sounds so sexy. I paired it with a Marshall practice amp and geeze the sound is 200% different then my $200 guitar.
The neck profile is perfect for my smaller, new guitarist hands. And really even when I play a wrong note it sounds so good I don't care.
I am taking it in tomorrow to a local shop for a custom set up.

Epiphone Emperor Swingster Hollowbody Electric Guitar, Trans Black Review

Epiphone Emperor Swingster Hollowbody Electric Guitar, Trans Black
Average Reviews:

This axe is awesome! After checking out multiple hollowbodies, I narrowed down my choices between this and the Gretsch G5120 which sells for the same price. The main things that sold me on this guitar that differ from the Gretsch are the Bigsby wire arm, the roller bridge, and the pickups. The wire arm is more useful than the standard flat one because you can hold it while picking. The roller bridge keeps the strings in perfect tune. (Seriously... I can't get this thing to go OUT of tune! It holds a tune better than my strat w/ locking tuners!!) The series/parallel pickup switching is also a great bonus, offering a limitless array of tone. And the thin profile neck allows you play a little faster, surprisingly. I'm not usually a fan of Epiphone, but this isn't just another Gibson copy. This guitar is unique to the brand and they really nailed it on this one. It does not feel as inexpensive as it is, and I would even go as far to say that this is better than many of the Gibson hollowbodies I checked out. My only issue with it: good luck finding a case that fits with the wire arm because I can't find one anywhere in retail stores or on the internet. I have a thick acoustic gig bag that works just fine, but thumbs down on Epiphone for not making a matching case for this. Even still, that's only a minor setback... just get a nice gig bag and don't throw it around. Overall, this guitar is AMAZING... Amazing value, craftsmanship, features, playability, and tone!

The Epiphone Emperor Swingster features archtop jazz guitar styling and updated electronics including SwingBucker pickups with push/pull tone controls that allows a choice of standard series or parallel pickup wiring for a brighter tone. The Swingster guitar has a shorter 24-3/4" scale that helps facilitate challenging jazz chord inversions. The body features a spruce top, a laminated birch/maple body and a 3-piece maple neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard. Other vintage features of this hollowbody electric guitar include chrome hardware, Grover Rotomatic 16:1 tuners, bound f-holes, thumbnail fingerboard Inlays, and a Bigsby licensed vibrato tailpiece with wire arm along with a "pinned" (non-floating) Tune-O-matic Bridge with roller saddles for smooth operation and accurate return to pitch which is preferred when using the vibrato. Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux Left-Handed Electric Guitar (Cosmic Black Burst) Review

Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux Left-Handed Electric Guitar (Cosmic Black Burst)
Average Reviews:

I Now own TWO Hagstrom Ultralux Viking II's.
My other is a Viking IIP & I just adore the Mother-of-Pearl inlay names on the Headstock.
The High Quality Craftsmanship in every detail! I was concerned since Hagstrom closed their doors in '83 & these new Lovely Beasts are now being built in China! Make no concern in your mind because the workmanship is STILL there!
All the products are high quality from the Canadian Maple wood to the Highly Tooled components.
I was told that purchasing a Guitar from a company like Amazon would cause me to acquire a SECOND that came from a clearing house. WRONG in every way!
This Hag still had the plastic protection sheeting over the pickups and pick guard!
There was no component that was NOT original and this Hag had not even a finger print on him!
Amazon is my one stop shopping and has been since I was stationed, with the Navy, overseas a decade ago!
I registered my Hagstrom right away on [...] using the serial number found on every Hagstrom on it's Silver Serial Plate found on the back of the body near the neck.
HAVE NO FEAR purchasing the Best Hollow Body Guitar from Amazon!
Left-Handers finally have a place to find their guitars!

Oscar Schmidt OE30 Hollow Body Electric Guitars, Tobacco Sunburst Review

Oscar Schmidt OE30 Hollow Body Electric Guitars, Tobacco Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am by no means an expert guitar player. I used to play when I was younger and just recently decided to start playing again. I love Country Music, some Jazz, some Blues and some Rock. More Country Music than any of the others.
I previously purchased an Oscar Schmidt Blue Burst for myself and was so impressed I decided to buy a Tobacco Sunburst. When I received the Tobacco Sunburst, I noticed it was one made in Indonesia. I looked it over and it looked and felt like a real quality guitar. In some ways, it felt better than the Blue Burst I have that is made in China. After tuning it, I played a few chords with an amplifier and a few chords without. The sound it produced was REMARKABLE!!! This is NOT a cheap guitar! With or without an amplifier, this guitar has a sound that can give the best Gibson, Epiphone or Gretsch REAL competition!!!
The OE30 has two Washburn Series 400 Pickups that can produce a warm deep mellow sound or a sharp rock growl. The body is made of maple with a flawless finish. The neck is mahogany and has a good feel. The Grover Tuners are quality and have a good postive feel when tuning. The Tobacco Sunburst came with different strings than my Blue Burst. The strings are thicker and more like the strings on an acoustic. Playing it takes a tad more pressure, but the sound they produce is beyond belief!
For the price, you get an awesome guitar that rivals the more expensive semi-hollows. Don't let the fact it's made in Indonesia dissuade you from purchasing one. I will admit, there are flaws, but you have to look really, REALLY close to find any. This is a quality guitar that if properly cared for, could last a lifetime and will. Washburn also warranties the guitar to the original purchaser for life. (Read the Warranty for limitations).
If you want a semi-hollow guitar, consider the OE30. You will not be sorry. You will receive a quality guitar, a lifetime warranty and save money as well.

Hagstrom Viking Electric Guitar (Tobacco Sunburst) Review

What a wonderful guitar. For the money you simply cannot find an equal, in my opinion. Mine came set up very nicely with no needed adjustments. Fit and finish was flawless. Stays in tune extremely well - played a gig with it the first weekend I got it and did not have to re-tune a single time. I cannot see paying an extra $2000 for the Gibson name. Truly makes no sense unless name is that important to you. For what it's worth, I just found out that it was a Gold Level award recipient for Overall Value by Guitar World Magazine.
I have been playing for 25 years and have owned/ played a lot of guitars - PRS, Fender Strats, Parker, Gibson ES-335, Peavey HP Special (top of the line & another great, yet underrated guitar), Godin 5th Avenue, Martin D-28, Ibanez, and others I cannot think of right now. This is a guitar that I will most likely never get rid of. My only criticism is that they should price it to include a hardshell case, which I had to order separately ($95).

Gibson Custom ES-335 Dot Electric Guitar, Faded Cherry Satin, Plain Maple Review

Gibson Custom ES-335 Dot Electric Guitar, Faded Cherry Satin, Plain Maple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wasn't even shopping for one when I got it. I was looking for headphones. Honest. It called to me, though. I can still hear it. "Take me home," it pleaded. I just couldn't say no and thus acquired my first Gibson six string. Learned to play on a lovely SG style Melody Maker a long time ago and had an EB2D bass for a long time but never a six string.
What a beauty! Gorgeous finish, great looking headstock and hefty without being uncomfortable. After playing Fenders and Ovations for years I had to re-do all the patches on my multi-effects stomp box because the 335 is just too powerful compared to those guitars. Those Classic Humbuckers will take your face off if you're not careful! The neck was comfortable right from the get-go and has remained so. The tuners are precise and easy to use and the one neck adjustment I've had to perform couldn't have been easier. I can never find local replacements for the Brite Wires that came with it (nice strings!) but D'Addario EXL110s sound great on it so that's what I use. The guitar's sound is clear and unique with all sorts of tone options available for any song. It's so much fun to play I don't even bother using an amp when noodling around between gigs - another trick that's hard to accomplish on a solid body Fender. The satin finish glosses up over time and looks great. Heck, even the case is gorgeous.
The only gripes I can think of are that it could have used a bit more thorough checking prior to shipping - the B string was binding at the nut when I bought it, necessitating a trip to the local luthier/tech and the saddles don't appear to have been notched for the strings the way I'm told is normal. I also wish they'd use the same size screws for the strap pins as it's a bit of a pain to retro-fit my preferred strap locks on them with the two different holes. (My EB2D had the same oddball screw arrangement.) Rather than fussing with it, I just use "over-the-strap" twist-on Dunlop locks.
This guitar is similar to the ones I grew up seeing and hearing people like Clapton, Johnny Rivers and Justin Hayward play. Never really planned on getting one and now that I have it I'm scared to take it to some of the places I play but that's OK. Everyone needs to treat themselves to a really nice axe every now and then and this one's mine. :-)

History speaks for itself. The ES-335 is one of the most important guitars of all time. Right from its introduction in 1958 as the world's first semi-hollowbody electric guitar it has been a mainstay of players eager to balance the gorgeous, round, mellow tones perfect for jazz and blues with the edge and sustain of a full-blooded solidbody.

Countless music legends have immortalized Gibson's ES-335.

Today the Gibson Custom Shop creates exacting duplicates of the ES-335 as it first left the Kalamazoo plant in 1958. That year just 267 were built, but the original vintage 335s grew steadily in popularity, peaking in 1967 thanks largely to Eric Clapton's high-profile use of a cherry ES-335 in the band Cream.
Body and Finishes The Custom Shop ES-335 is available with many finish options, reflecting the color choices that have evolved over the model's 50-year history. In Satin finish, trans black and cherry colors are available, with a plain maple top, back, and rims. Ebony is available only in plain maple. With the figured maple top, back, and rims option, cherry, tri-burst, antique natural, light burst, and vintage sunburst colors are available. Wine red, trans brown, Beale Street Blue, and cinnamon burst finishes are also available in limited quantities, along with gold hardware, for figured and for plain maple models.
Regardless of color, the ES-335 retains its classic proportions: 16 1/2-inches wide, 20-inches long, and 1 3/4-inches deep. The neck is one-piece mahogany beneath a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid inlays and a single-ply binding. Additionally, there's single-ply binding on the top and back.
Hardware All hardware is nickel, and there's a classic ABR-1 bridge with a lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece. Neck length is 24 3/4 inches with a 1 11/16-inch nut width. Satin finish models have vintage style tulip shaped tuners, while figured and plain tops come with Grover kidney-shaped tuners. All Custom Shop ES-335s have powerful '57 Classic humbucking pickups, two volume pots, two tone pots, and a three-way pickup selector switch. They are strung with Gibson Brite Wire .010 strings and come safely nestled in a black levant case.
Famous Players Spanning numerous decades, the ES-335 has been in the hands of countless musicians. From Chuck Berry's numerous performances to Alvin Lee's incendiary performance at Woodstock to Police's 2008 tour in NYC, the ES-335 has been the instrument of choice for any players seeking gorgeous, round, mellow tones, tempered with the edge and sustain of a full-blooded solidbody electric like the Les Paul.
Nitrocellulose Finish Applying a nitrocellulose finish to any Gibson guitar is one of the most labor-intensive elements of the guitar-making process. A properly applied nitro finish requires extensive man hours, several evenly applied coats, and an exorbitant amount of drying time. But this fact has never swayed Gibson into changing this time-tested method, employed ever since the first Gibson guitar was swathed with lacquer back in 1894. Why? For starters, a nitro finish dries to a much thinner coat than a polyurethane finish, which means there is less interference with the natural vibration of the instrument, allowing for a purer tone. A nitro finish is also a softer finish, which makes it easily repairable. You can touch up a scratch or ding on a nitro finish, but you can't do the same on a poly finish. In addition, a nitro finish is very porous in nature, and actually gets thinner over time. It does not "seal" wood in an airtight shell--as a poly finish does--and allows the wood to breathe and age properly.
All VOS (Vintage Original Spec) series guitars will use a proprietary process that includes unique steps for staining, wet-sanding, and hand-rubbing; subsequently the guitars reflect what a well-cared for 40-year-old guitar looks like. The result is a remarkable patina that will delight even the most discriminating enthusiast.

Hagstrom Swede Tremar Electric Guitar (White) Review

Hagstrom Swede Tremar Electric Guitar (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This guitar looks amazing, quite amazing actually, the features sounded amazing also when I read them, BUT when I got the guitar I was horrified at the quality of this guitar. I normally and usually play american fender strats, gibsons, etc. Attended Berklee College of Music for a master in guitar so i've played MANY guitars and I must say i've felt squier's better constructed than this guitar. As soon as I received the guitar I took it to a professional repair shop and was told to return the guitar because i'd put more money into fixing it than the guitar is worth. The tremolo bar was horribly attached to the body, the tuners on the thing felt cheap, one of the tone knobs didn't work, a toggle switch didn't work, the other toggle switch made horrible noises when switching humbuckers, the frets were sticking out too far on the neck causing me to cut my fingers when trying to slide. I returned it immediately and had to eat the shipping costs. I wouldn't recommend this guitar if it was two dollars and same quality, it's not worth the money, for the price go buy a guitar worth value.

The Hagstrom Select Series, Vintage Series, and UltraLux Series guitars recapture the original glorious Hagstrom style. They are built to the same stringent quality standards and feature Hagstrom's exclusive technologies including the legendary H-Expander Truss Rod while introducing a number of new technological advances such as the Resinator Fretboard in order to guarantee that these are the finest guitars on the market. The Vintage Series Tremar Swede combines a vintage Hagstrom Vibrato roller bridge with custom hardware to match. The Tremar Swede features a 45mm Mahogany Body with 10mm Carved Mahogany Top and set Mahogany neck. Normandy ATGWB-GD Archtop Guitar with Bigsby, Anodized, Gold Review

Normandy ATGWB-GD Archtop Guitar with Bigsby, Anodized, Gold
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own this guitar, and I love it...here's why:
BIGSBY!!! I've owned Bigsby equipped guitars in the past, and they've never stayed in the stable long. I love the IDEA of a Bigsby and the sound, and vibe...but the honeymoon always comes to a screeching halt when it comes to practicality: I've always had tuning stability issues on my Bigsby equipped guitars. NOT SO WITH MY NORMANDY!!! The roller bridge on this thing allows me to get vibrato happy as much as I want with NO tuning issues. Plus the bridge allows me to adjust intonation, height, and string spacing. Cool.
Tone: I didn't know what to expect from an Aluminum guitar, but I was stunned. This guitar sustains like nothing else I own. I even love playing it unplugged. The pickups are exceptional...very articulate and present. They are at their best serving up a muscular mid range tone that really penetrates a mix.
Playability: World class, AND straight out of the factory with 11's! NICE. These guys nail their set ups.
Appearance: Great looking guitar that is classic and modern at all at once. Great fit and finish. Nice details. BE WARNED: You will NOT pull this guitar out of it's case without every guitar player in the room lining up to check it out.

Gibson Custom ES-335 Dot Electric Guitar, Triburst, Figured Maple Review

Gibson Custom ES-335 Dot Electric Guitar, Triburst, Figured Maple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I won't go into much detail on the quality of the ES-335 because it is world famous as being one of the most playable and best sounding guitars out there. It's great for just about any style of music and it really is a dream guitar. I'd like to focus on my experience ordering it from amazon.com. The Big Two guitar retailers (you know who they are) were backordered for a couple months on the ES-335 in Triburst (and most other colors as well), so I decided to look on amazon.com. Sure enough, they had one and it arrived a few days after I placed my order. I was a little hesitant to order such a fine guitar from amazon but I was not disappointed. It arrived in a sealed box in perfect condition. I also liked how amazon required a signature for delivery. I will definitely use amazon again for guitars.

I absolutely love this guitar. Right out of the box it rocked. I tuned it up, wiped it down and started to play. the action is great, the neck feels perfect in my hand, and the smile on my face was huge!
