i got this guitar on sale and when it arrived there was no sound from the bridge pickup. shaking it about a little fixed it....not a good sign but i got a good deal so i kept it. it sounds awesome and plays like guitars costing 3 times as much. i'm very happy with my purchase. i've been playing for 20 years and this one is a keeper.

Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst Review

Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst

When shopping for a semi hollow, I kept looking back to this guitar. After playing Gretch and Gibsons at well over twice the cost, I couldn't deny that this provided all the warmth and roundness I was looking for. I've had it over ten years, touring and the only problem came from another player breaking off the toggle switch. Hardly a fault of the guitar's. Great buy.

Epiphone Dot Studio Archtop Electric Guitar, Worn Cherry Review

Epiphone Dot Studio Archtop Electric Guitar, Worn Cherry

Considering the price and everything, this guitar is almost worth five stars. I compared this guitar to a Gibson Custom Shop Alvin Lee "Big Red" and it's amazing that for about 10% of the cost of the "Big Red" you're getting a hot axe that has an incredible unbelievable sound. One key component are the double Vintage Alnico V plus pickups. The fretboard is fast and the workmanship is pretty good for this price range. Comparing this Epiphone Dot Studio to other 335s' from various manufacturers, I found that the Epiphone has done the best job in this category, and it's because Epiphone is a Gibson company and that may explain it why.
This guitar is relatively light for a semi-hollow body and the setup was perfect right out of the box with low action the way I like it. I think the worn series finishes with the worn cherry etc. are a unique touch although I also like the tomato red, the yellow, the alpine white from recent editions. A very good guitar at a very affordable price.

A nicely affordable version of the venerable Gibson 335 Dot, the 6-string Epiphone Dot Archtop electric guitar still features that fabulous semi-hollowbody sound voiced by real Alnico Classic Humbucker pickups. The trademark Dot design, named for the pearl dot fingerboard markers on early models, was invented by Gibson in 1958 to meld traditional features of hollowbody electrics with the performance of a solidbody.

It's equipped with 2 volume and 2 tone controls that let you tailor your tones to fit your style, and a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for more sustain and easier string changes. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
