Eventide TimeFactor Twin Delay Stombox Review

I got this after a couple of failed attempts with cheaper Boss and TC units. For the extra $$ it's built like a tank, and works exactly as advertised. Awesome, inspiring delay sounds, more than I could explore in a lifetime, are readily accessible. If you just want simple delays there are much cheaper stompboxes (e.g. Digitech Digidelay, Boss in the $100 range) that do the job fine with a lot less programming. But if you use delay a lot are are particular about the details, avoid the $200-$300 range TC and Boss options and get the Eventide.

Furman SPB-8C Deluxe Stereo Pedal Board with Hardshell Case, Handle and Wheels, Power Conditioner Review

Furman SPB-8C Deluxe Stereo Pedal Board with Hardshell Case, Handle and Wheels, Power Conditioner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is one of the best! I used it before and fell in love!
It has a power conditioner included preventing that sound polution which is so important when you play in different places that might not have the best equipment or have a lot of lights.
It does feel a little heavy but pedals usually are a kinda heavy so that doesnt help. Despite it being heavy, it has a good handle, wheels, and is made out of hard plastic, you can't get lighter than that!
It has an ideal space for a good number of pedals, you don't need to remove the rubber from your pedals ( I saw someone say it in a previous review ). I bought some velcro and pasted it to the bottom of my pedals, adding an awesome grip for moving around and preventing the pedals from flying all over the place when traveling.
It's a great item to protect your investments.

Dunlop MC-403 MXR Custom Audio Electronics Power System Review

Dunlop MC-403 MXR Custom Audio Electronics Power System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm running a pretty big pedal board with 10 DC (all 9 volts) and 2 AC powered pedals (line6 M9 and Digitech Whammy Wah) and this does the job flawlessly. Absolutely no noise or interference. It replaced my Voodoo Labs AC power and Pedal Power II. This unit is very well designed and well built. The information I found on line was a little sketchy and careful inspection of the pics online weren't consistent. I took a chance on buying this hoping it would power everything I needed and luckily it worked out.

EMG KH20 Kirk Hammett Active Pickup Set with Pickguard Review

EMG KH20 Kirk Hammett Active Pickup Set with Pickguard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I went back and forth on buying this active pickup set for a few weeks. Amazon had a great deal on it one day and I finally decided to purchase and test it out. I'm glad I did!
The packaging, documentation, and components are all very high quality. It comes with everything you need for installation, including pickguard screws (I didn't know this).
The single coils really do retain that Strat sound, and the EMG 81 is awesome for heavier riffs/songs. This pickup set provides a lot of flexibility. One day I may post some sound clips to my website.
Installation was pretty easy in a Fender Squire Affinity Strat. The body cavity wasn't deep enough for the battery, so I needed to route out about a half inch below the knobs. I used a Dremel for this with a router bit and a cutting bit. There was NO soldering involved - everything connects to a circuit board underneath the knobs. Very cool.
I highly recommend this pickup set.

Kirk is truly the soloist of the decade and EMG pickups are the tools of his trade. One of the ways he gets his fierce solid tone and tight searing harmonics is from his signature Pro-Series system, the EMG-KH20, a soloists dream setup. This system joins the EMG-81 with a pair of EMG-S single-coil pickups. These pickups are all built around ceramic magnets for the tightest, most controlled sound with incredible versatility. This setup comes with two tones and a master volume all wired onto a custom 11-hole white pearl pickguard with contrasting black knobs. Empress Tremolo Review

Empress Tremolo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got an Amazon gift card for my birthday with the instructions to buy something fun with it, to splurge a little. This is what I chose. I don't really *need* a tremolo (I'm not a performer), but it sure is fun to play with!
I researched a lot of tremolo pedals before deciding on this one (thanks, ProGuitarShop! I owe you one). I chose it primarily because of what I heard, but also due to the impressive amounts of controls that are available. If there's a certain trem sound you're trying to achieve, I can almost guarantee you can get it with this box! I won't go over all the controls because that's in the product description. I can tell you that tap tempo is *awesome*, almost a must-have. It will spoil you. The tube style trem is great for all-around applications, while the square style is a lot of fun to play with. I haven't used the triangle much yet, but then again I just got the box.
Besides tap tempo, another feature that is unique and awesome is the rhythm settings. Check around on YouTube for some demos of them. It's a nice touch that really sets this product apart from other tremolo effects.
On the negative side, there are a few small things that I don't like, though not deal-breakers. First, the tempo LED will continue to flash as long as the unit has power. That can be annoying for home hobbyists like myself. Second, there is no way to save presets. Finally, this unit does not run on battery power, yet an AC adapter must be purchased separately.
Even with those few minor concerns, I still rate this product as five stars due to sound and features.

Pristine Sound - The Empress Tremolo has to be heard to be believed. Its whisper quiet and free from the "LFO throb" usually associated with tremolos. We dare anyone to find a better sounding tremolo.Waveform Selection - You can modulate your sound with three different waveforms. An asymmetrical tremolo was modeled after a '65 Fender Vibrolux (brown face) to give you the fullest tremolo sound possible. A square wave can be utilized if you're after a harder sound. And if you're looking for a more normal tremolo, you can use the triangle wave setting.Tap Tempo - The Empress Trem averages your last four taps so it plays in sync with your music. You can also choose different tap to tremolo rate ratios. 1:1, 1:2, and 1:4 are available. Two Speed Mode - An exclusive feature to the Empress Trem. You're able to set two different rates, and switch between them using the tap tempo stomp switch. This is similar to playing through a Leslie cabinet and changing the speed.Rhythms - Another exclusive feature. The Empress Trem will definitely do your run-of-the-mill tremolo sound to a tee. But you can also set it to play different rhythms. Check out the soundclips for examples.Gain - A problem with most tremolos on the market is that when they're engaged, you hear a noticeable drop in volume. The Empress Trem solves this by having a gain stage on the output. It's able to deliver up to 6dB of gain without adding any distortion to the signal.True Bypass - The Empress Trem employs true bypass, so you can be sure that it's not affecting the signal when disengaged.Perfect Size - The enclosure measures approximately 4.5" by 3.5" by 1.5", which is delightfully small when considering all the features packed into this unit.Four Year Warranty - The Empress Tremolo comes with a two-year warranty. You can extend the warranty to 4 years by simply registering online.

This is an awesome preamp! great tone, my guitar snarls and squeals like never before. Does it feel like a tube amp? not quite but its close in terms of response to playing dynamics. Missing some of the harmonic nuances of tube tone decay*... but hey, if you have $$ to drop on a triaxis or a real amp (which you probably couldn't use in an apartment), you shouldn't be looking here anyway. Radial JDI Duplex mk4 Stereo Direct Box Review

Radial JDI Duplex mk4 Stereo Direct Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are better boxes out there, but they come with that tradition "better price" which could easily push you over $1000. This is Radial's top of the line stage class passive DI. It's the JDI (Jenson DIrect box) Duplex (for stereo applications.
What is it?
If your not familiar with DI's (aka Direct Boxes) they are a device that electricaly isolates an unbalanced line level input to a balanced line level output. It does this thru a transformer and (without getting into the physics) as such protects both lines from one another while at the same time elemintaing the possibility for problematic ground loops.
Why do you need one?
If you were to just "plug" an instrument such as a guitar (which uses unbalanced line level) into a mic line (which is a balanced AND in many cases POWERED line) the best thing that can happen is you'll get noise, hum, distorsion, ect. The worst that could happen is a powered line could cook your output on your instrument. This often the case where people plug iPods or laptops into powered stage or PA lines. The small voltage of a small electronic device becomes overwhelmed and shorts out due to the MUCH higher voltage and current of the PA's Phantom Powered lines.
This box is part of Radial's JDI line that uses genuine Jensen transformers for soft and subtle sound curves. Radial makes more affordable models that also sound terrific. However I wanted an "Any Situation" type box. This box is a stereo box which fits that bill nicely. It is acutally two seperate mono JDI's, each with their own transformer, in a single case. You could run two individual mono inputs and outputs if you wanted. But by pluging the individual right and left channels of a stereo device into each half of this box then running two output lines to the PA you preserve the stereo signal.
I/O
On the rear of the box each channel has a 1/4" input jack and a 1/4" thruput jack (for running a thru line to stage monitors). There's a "mix button" that will allow the thruput line to become a second input line for mixing stereo signals to mono. Each channel also two RCA inputs for mixing auido out of digital devices line CD/DVD, ipod, laptop, ect. The pairs for each channel are mixed to mono at output. Being a stereo box you might wonder why you would mix back to mono. Perhaps you only wish to run one line back to to PA mixer. The front of the unit has one XLR output and one XLR input for each channel. So as I said this can work as two standalone mono boxes. What if you want stereo? One the L channel to an input on channel 1 (1/4" in or RCA doesn't matter) then R channel to channel 2. Then run two XLR outputs to your PA mixer or console.
Other nice features
This unit features all metal construction which creates an electromanetic cage to shield it from outside interference. NICE if you standing next to HUGE stage moniters driving enormous magnets with tons of power. Each cannel has a high pass filter switch and a pad switch for devices. The pad is nice for digital devices like CD, ipod, ect. It also has a polarity flip switch for each output to eleminate hum caused by import sound devices. And lastly a ground lift switch to further isolate ground loops.
As I said this unit is about as good as it gets for passiv DI's. There are such things as Active DIs but that's a whole different animal. For most users, a passive is going to be the best choice. And as I said there are other models that aren't quite so pricey. I'll recommend a few. If your application like mine is primarily AV presentation then this box is actually a bit overkill. But like I said I wanted that "super utility" aka swiss army knife ablity coupled with true stereo and mono options. For just mono AV work I can recommend the Radial ProAV1. That line also contains several inexpensive stage type boxes. A step between this model and those I just mensioned is the Radial JDI. (Again this is the JDI duplex) It's the same technology and construction but at th same time is a mono box. It still has the stereo to mono mix feature as well. All will suit you well and sound great on systems big and small.

A stereo version of the Radial JDI. Ideal for recording, broadcast, and live sound where extreme dynamics such as those produced by digital sampling devices and keyboards are encountered. Completely passive, the JD4 employs two Jensen JT-DBE transformers for 100% isolation and low phase distortion. Jensen Transformer equipped passive DI100% isolation eliminates ground loopsVirtually zero phase & harmonic distortionExceptional signal handlingHigh common mode noise rejectionThe Radial JDI is considered by many to be the worlds finest direct box. It is a passive DI that employs a Jensen isolation transformer for optimum audio performance offering outstanding linearity at all frequencies, combined with extraordinary level handling without introducing distortion. Being completely passive, the plug & play JDI does not require any powering and has the unique advantage of eliminating 60-cycle ground loops. This makes the JDI a definite favorite with informed audio engineers. The JDI is great for guitars, bass, and keyboards and is particularly adept with high-output, broadband instruments such as active instruments and digital keyboards. The JDI may be rack-mounted using the J-Rak.

Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus Amp Review

Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm in heaven. I was playing on a Peavey Classic 30, but the JC-120 blows that amp away. This Amp is the standard to which all amps are measured. It has 120 watts of the sweetest tone to ever make your ears bleed. It's loud and clean! You can actually hear your guitar's true uncolored tone ring through. When I play jazz, I plug straight into the front of the amp with no effects whatsoever, and it's the most beautiful clean tone I've ever had.
The chorus on this thing is legendary too. I can't help but think I've heard this same chorus many times before in studio recordings. That would make sense since I hear this is a studio as well as a stage standard.
The reverb is tops as well. The distortion is a little weak, but I have a Boss GT-10 to handle all my effects needs since I have to play a multitude of different styles. Works good since the amp has a stereo input, and the GT-10 has a stereo output.
The Amp holds up well on the road which is a plus if you have to travel a lot, and the casters are a life saver.
I recommend this amp to anyone playing ANY style of music that wants versatile professional sound. I don't think you can find a better clean tone at any price, and it won't muddy up your effects.
On the down side for some guitarists... If your chops are sloppy this amp is unforgiving. You really can hear everything on it. If you practice clean like you're supposed to, you are in for the tonal treat of your live. Enjoy!

Vox VT100 Valvetronix 100-watt 2 X 12in. Modeling Combo Amplifier Review

Vox VT100 Valvetronix 100-watt 2 X 12in. Modeling Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While I am still in the process of learning all that this amp can do I still feel compelled to sing it's praises because, brother/sister, this amp can do a lot. The valvetronix system in which the sound is treated ALMOST gets that amp singing like a true valve amp. It has 22 amp models each with 3 presets apiece, the presets are very well done- usually with modeling amps the presets are a bit over the top with more than a little too much treble- not here- the presets are tastefully done and each is eminently useful in finding great tones. On top of the 66 presets (you see what I mean by a lot) you can bank and save 8 of your own custom tones using the 22 amp models plus a bevy of effects (Tape Echo and Rotary Speaker are my favorites, so far)- small quibble- the foot-switch is sold separately. It has a power knob that lets you adjust the wattage so you can actually play this monster in your bedroom or use it effectively for recording but it's at the higher volumes where this baby really sings- because the valves are NOT used just in the pre-amp stage you can really activate them at the higher volumes and that is where you get closer to the sound of a real valve amp but at a fraction of the cost.
If you are looking for a versatile amp the Vox VT100 is not just the best bang for your buck but just a flat out great choice at any price. Seriously, now that I own one I would pay twice the price.

Line 6 Floorboard - Guitar Pedal Board Foot Contr Review

Line 6 Floorboard - Guitar Pedal Board Foot Contr
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use the Floorboard with the Pod Pro, though it is also designed to work with Line 6's Flextone series of amplifiers too. It's really easy to use, although you can either have it in "select the patches" mode, or "manual mode" though you need to be en garde at all times, as the same buttons do different things in the different modes. It has some great - amazing, really - flexibility in the manual edit mode, and brilliantly clever little touches like "boost" functions for EQ, overdrive and distortion. You want to hit that solo? Step on it, and it goes a little louder, a little brighter, or a little nastier depending on what you step on.
However, unless you trained as an organist, in a live session you don't want to be jumping around like Michael Flatley jabbing your toes at various buttons in the manual edit mode, clicking delays in or out, and then switching modes (another button) when you want to change patches - realistically you will just have a patch *with* delay set up next to an identical patch *without* delay. But if you're in patch mode, you don't have access to the boosters - which really would be useful. But it's such a great thing I think, dammit, I'll just get comfortable training to be an organist.
Its construction is as hard as nails, but - and it's a big but - the patch switches kick in a split second after you stamp on them, not immediately, as you'd expect with a stomp box. This is a major weakness. Since I use it with the Pod, and only really in the home studio environment, I can live with this. But I don't think it would fly in a live envinronment. When you want to switch from Fender Tweed to loud JCM for that face melting solo, you want to do it *now* and not some time between now and the next beat. I don't know if this can be fixed in future models, but it needs to be.

Line 6 POD X3 Pro Guitar Multi Effects Processor Review

Line 6 POD X3 Pro Guitar Multi Effects Processor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Line6 gear is used by some of the biggest pros in the industry. Why then, is this unit which is labeled as "Pro" such a disappointment?
The GOOD: The sound is typical Line6. If you liked it before you will find it good now. The interface is a little confusing at first but can be learned quickly. There are knobs (and not just buttons) that allow adjustment of parameters in real time. The overall unit, although lightweight feels fairly sturdy. There are multiple inputs and even an effects loop in the unit itself for the addition of other effects.
The BAD: The knobs on the unit feel weak and spin freely as if they will fall off or break at any moment. Many of the presets while decent, sound similar. Effects are limited- if you buy this make sure you really need amp modeling and not just effects as the latter is lacking sorely and sound generic. There is a ton of hum generated by this thing. Doesn't matter if you lift the grounds, use it in front of the amp, in the loop or with the "4 cable" method. It hums and I could not stop it from humming badly.
While using mine the sound abruptly died more than once and resumed a few seconds later without explanation. Saved presets mysteriously disappeared and more than once I turned the unit on and was greeted by nothing but the blank orange screen...nothing else and no sound. While switching presets was typically silent there was on occasion a hiss or pop while switching. This was not typically a repeatable event which was even more frustrating.
The UGLY: Midi implementation is still not included fully in this "pro" unit. You might be able to change presets but your expression pedals probably won't work...even Line6's own FBV pedals do not fully work with this thing...is that a joke? The X3 Live folks have been waiting a year for full midi.
Upon ordering you are promised the full version of "Pod Farm Platinum" free by many sites. This is not without major catches. The software only runs as a VST plugin AND requires you use your unit as a giant "dongle" of sorts or Pod Farm won't work. So every time you want to use Pod Farm you'll need to drag a full size rack unit to your PC and hook it up...stupid.
Overall, if you really need good amp modeling and are running straight into a board or power amp then this unit might be for you. Most would be better served looking for another unit though. The PodXT is time-tested at this point and can be had cheaply on auction sites or here on Amazon. I would recommend that unit until this one is REALLY ready.

The Line 6 Pod X3 Pro is the powerful Dual Tone processor that comes complete with amp and effect models for recording guitar, bass and vocals. Like all members of the POD X3 family, POD X3 Pro offers powerful Dual Tone modeling and routing options. Split your single-input guitar or bass signal through two different amp and effect chains simultaneously to create gorgeous new hybrids, or use its dual inputs to individually process two instruments-a microphone and a guitar, for example-at the same time. Computer-based studios will want to exploit the USB 2.0 connectivity provided by POD X3 Pro for multi-channel recording as well as its S/PDIF or AES/EBU Stereo Digital Audio I/O for sending a direct digital signal to their DAWs. For additional recording and processing flexibility, POD X3 Pro also includes software plug-in functionality for integration with DAW recording applications. The 1/4-inch and XLR inputs can be used to simultaneously record two individual instruments or microphones to separate tracks in your DAW, each in stereo and each with the option of recording the dry mono signal at the same time. (This is perfect for going back after you've recorded a track and adding a little magic with the included plug-in.) In addition to the dual stereo and mono options, there's also a stereo blend being sent down to your DAW that matches exactly the blend coming out of the stereo 1/4-inch outs. Amps and Cabs Quite simply, there has never been an amp modeler with this much sheer firepower. Boss GT-10 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal Review

Boss GT-10 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal

I tour and use the GT-10 through a Roland JC-120 Amp. I have no problem dialing in the right sound for any style I may end up having to play. The sounds are clean and professional, and the case is tough as nails. It does such a good job, I can bypass my amp and plug directly into the PA or house system. It's easy to use with a hand full of dedicated knobs, and an expression pedal. It also has a super clean bypass and tuner so I can still use my George L's cables and hear my guitar's beautiful tone. The stereo output is great too. This is the processor I've always been looking for, and I recommend it to everyone.

SKB PS45 Deluxe Pedalboard with Hard Case Review

SKB PS45 Deluxe Pedalboard with Hard Case
Average Reviews:

In my opinion SKB's PS45 is the best case out there before you start getting into custom solutions. ESPECIALLY for the Amazon price (20 cheaper than the online music retailers and free shipping which is uncommon for this item too)! Furman power strip is great too offering both protection and as many plugins as you'll need for the pedal space provided. The only reason I would upgrade from this pedal board would be if I run out of pedal space. Even then not all is lost, as the furman strip detaches from the skb case. So I'll be able to use the furman strip in an ATA case if necessary.
