ME50BMulti-Effects Made Simple BOSS understands that bass players want access to powerful effects, but they don't want to get caught up in the menus and programming hassles of a multi-effects processor. Enter the ME-50B. Just like its guitar-oriented sibling, the new ME-50B puts BOSS' finest multi-effects for bass into a convenient floor processor with the feel of a compact pedal. Forget about menus and cursor buttons. Just reach down and twist a knob!Independent COSM Compressor/Limiter and EQEveryone knows that the fundamentals of good bass tone are compression and EQ. That's why the ME-50B features two dedicated sections for these essential effects. The Compressor/Limiter uses advanced COSM modeling-including a "Natural" compression setting that retains the nuances of your playing-to give you tight, punchy tone. Simply select the compressor "Type" and adjust the Sustain/Threshold knob to get the tone you want. The Master section includes a 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid for precise tonal shaping.Get Creative with Cool Filter/Tone EffectsThe ME-50B includes a variety of unique tone-shaping effects just for bass. These include a handy "Octave Up" effect, which adds a note one octave above the original while retaining your natural bass sound-complete with adjustable drive on the octave-shifted note-plus favorites like Slow Gear, T-Wah and a Defretter effect for instant fretless sounds. Using the Tone effect preset, you can get quick tonal variations with preset EQs like "Bottom Boost" and "Mid Shape." Incredibly Warm Overdriven Sounds and MoreWant some extra bite? Switch on the ME-50B's Drive effects, which include settings like "Muff Fuzz," "Bass Driver," "Natural" and "Metal" to give you a range of overdriven/distorted sounds. A new "Hi Band" effect creates a distorted sound on the high frequencies while keeping the lower frequencies intact-perfect for creating complex tones while keeping your original playing dynamics. There are also four synth bass sounds with su

Aguilar Tone Hammer Bass Preamp Direct Box Review

Aguilar Tone Hammer Bass Preamp Direct Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was searching for a preamp to power a new bass rig straight into a Crown PSA 2 back from the day. WOW, it gives me sweepable mid filter, awesome bass, awesome silky highs and a 2nd fuzz sound. Built like a tank. Powered with the ac adaptor and it is quiet as a whistle. A pre/post di out and ground lift switch built in. I have it up high on a music stand next to the music for a horn band I am in. No bending over and I can tailor the sounds on the fly, try that on the floor. My secret weapon to an old school custom rig that blows the doors off of most cabs I play in music retailers. I power a 15" sub with a mccauley subwoofer and a 15" celestion bass for full range. This rig now rocks. Time to buy the Aguilar TLC compressor. Buy with assurance that this thing rocks! Listen to the samples on the website and you'll be surprised. Bye Bye midi.....

Boss GT-10B Multi-Effects Pedal Review

Boss GT-10B Multi-Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Other reviewers seem fixated on their delivery experience rather than the merits of this product. If you're interested in knowing more about it, download the manual from Boss/Roland's website and look at some other reviews on Sweetwater and/or Musician's Friend, regardless of where you buy. I originally included the links to that info, but apparently Amazon doesn't like that.
I don't own this particular unit, but I've owned many Boss pedals and one of their HD 8-track recorders, all great quality and very useful gear.
This effects unit seems very fully featured and capable of nearly anything that a bass player could want... maybe too much. If you're gifting someone who's a hipster who's too cool for school, into retro gear, or more of a brass tacks purist (stompbox fanatic), they might be put off by this one, especially if they haven't taken the time to get familiar with what it's capable of.
If that's not an issue for you, go for it; this thing's a monster!
It has become apparent to me that the GT-10B has a user interface and navagability that is more intuitive and easier for the less technically inclined. That being said, the more ambitious audio-nerds can easily break through the standard configurations and infinitely configure and re-configure to their heart's content.
The thing can be set up to manually replace up to 3 of your amp's footswitches, manually or automatically as a parameter of a patch.
The order of effects in a patch can be reconfigured at will (modulate your distortion or distort your modulation?) INCLUDING an ADDITIONAL external loop that allows you to route in an old favorite anywhere in the patch OR (if you don't want to lose the pretty effects in the overdrive of your amp's preamp) send to your amp's input, return (100% if blendable) from the amp's effects loop send back into the GT-10's loop return, then output from the GT-10 back to the amp's loop return, ...and feel free to route in that Sonic Max anywhere along the way. Sweet!
There's USB control for audio output and desktop/laptop editing/configuration/organizing/download of effects.
Dual XLR and 1/4" Outs that can be set to L/R or dry/effect (or just use one straight to your amp), a headphone out, MIDI in/out and full MIDI control including patch or individual effect activation and clock controlled time parameters (mod speed, delay, etc to clock), digital (SPDIF) out, and the kitchen sink. Amen.
PS: dynamic effect control: patches or effects may be set to kick in based on the dynamics of your playing (play harder to make OD kick in, etc...). Nifty.

Aguilar AG 500SC Bass Head Boss Brown Review

Aguilar AG 500SC Bass Head Boss Brown
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Aguilar AG500SC is simply a fantastic bass amplifier, hands down. If you are looking for a warm, punchy, deep sound, you can't go wrong with Aguilar. It gets very loud, certainly loud enough for mid-size venues and cuts through a mix very well. The construction is VERY solid. I've never seen a more neatly and carefully wired machine in my life. And I really dig the aesthetics, with the rich brown color and simple, easily readable EQ and knob layout. Ultimately, I would rather have gone with the dual-channel model, but for the moment I just can't afford it. But trust me, there's not a hint of regret in my purchase. I am VERY happy with this amplifier.
Props also goes to Amazon, which has not only the best selection of Aguilar products (pretty much every model in every color combo under the sun), but also the best prices (and FREE shipping to boot). Delivery was quick and professional and I have had no problems with the product after purchase. Highly recommended!

Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe Review

Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I play in 2 bands and I typically use 2 to 3 Basses on stage depending on the band (and the stage). I have always fought with having to dial in the right tone for each Bass every time I switch Basses. The Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe solves that problem. I can preset the 3 main tones I need for 2 Basses and when I switch basses, it just takes a split second to hit the footswitch and I have the exact sound I need. This thing is very easy to setup and has a boatload of other features. Besides the obvious XLR Direct out, it also has a 1/4" Parallel out that is pre-tone controls so you can send your unaltered Bass signal to a Tuner or in my case, another amplifier. It also has an effects loop so you can have your effects setup and just hit one switch and you have the tone you need plus the effects you need. There's a small learning curve and you need some time for trial and error with the tone controls and the drive, level and blend controls if your customizing your own sounds. You can also just use the stock sounds that come pre-programmed and it sounds great. I've had many compliments from band mates as well as fans in the audience about my sound since using the Bass Driver Deluxe. I would definitely recommend the Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe for any Bassist. I would also recommend you buy the optional Tech 21 DC2 DC2 Power Supply.
