This is a professional keyboard, so if you want some great sounds at an affordable price, this could be perfect for you.
Very transportable; incredible sounds; knobs that allow for adjusting sounds; multi-effects processor; vocoder.
I could go on and on. This keyboard comes in very handy, and I've used it for rock, contemporary, R&B, worship, etc.
You'll be impressed by the sound of this keyboard. It's small, but packs a huge punch.

Moog Music MF102 Moogerfooger Ring Modulator Pedal Review

Moog Music MF102 Moogerfooger Ring Modulator Pedal
Average Reviews:

Got the pedal, and it is amazing. Five stars for the pedal, worth every dime. The time it took to ship it wasn't amazing, but I guess you get what you pay for. I purchased the pedal on December 24th, and received it on January 4th. It was boxed well, and is a sturdy pedal. Definitely the best pedal I have ever purchased. I have thus far ran it through a couple of different amplifiers, a Roland FP-3, a MIDI laptop setup, a 1975 Rhodes, and an electric violin and all of them were really fun to play with. I would definitely recommend the pedal but if you want it quickly, pay for the faster shipping.

The all-analog ring modulator rebuilds your sound into two separate tones and then uses an internal carrier oscillator to spread those tones apart in the frequency spectrum. The higher the carrier frequency, the more the new tones are separated. The effects can be anything from slow, velvet-smooth tremelo, to chains jangling in a Chinese gong to classic "outer space" sounds. The LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) imparts trills, vibratos, siren effects. You want unlimited new sounds? Here they are! Power supply included. What is a Ring Modulator? A ring modulator mixes your audio input signal with a carrier oscillator to produce sum and difference frequencies. Imagine that the ring modulator's carrier oscillator is producing a 500 Hz sine wave, and your input signal is a 100 Hz sine wave. The ring modulator's output will be a complex waveform. You will hear two pitches: 400 Hz and 600 Hz. You will not hear your original input or the carrier oscillator. The moogerfooger ring modulator is a direct descendant of the original Moog modular synthesizers. It contains three complete modular functions: a ring modulator, a voltage-controlled carrier oscillator, and voltage-contolled dual-waveform LFO. A ring modulator produces sum and difference frequencies between the audio input and a "carrier" oscillator. The ring modulator's LFO can be used to modulate the carrier frequency. The moogerfooger ring modulator can create effects ranging from subtle tremolo to harmonically rich distortion, sweeps, swoops, and divebombs. The moogerfooger ring modulator's control parameters are signal mix, carrier frequency, LFO rate, and LFO amount. All of the ring modulator's parameters can be controlled with expression pedals or external control voltages as well as by rotary panel controls. Panel switches select LFO waveform and carrier frequency range. 1/4' jacks are provided for audio input and output, pedal/control inputs, carrier input and carrier output.

Moog Music MF101 Moogerfooger Low Pass Envelope Filter Pedal Review

Moog Music MF101 Moogerfooger Low Pass Envelope Filter Pedal

Wow, someone actually wrote as a review "My husband uses this in his band a lot...don't know anything about it...", now I have seen it all. Why would any body think that an endorsement like that could possibly be helpful in any way? Oh great, well if it's good enough for your husband then I'll take TWO!! Holy smokes, what else do you see him using that I might want? Thanks for nothing, luckily anyone else who is looking at this will surely know what this is and it goes without saying it's value and quintessentially uniquely classic moog filter sound. Thanks for nothing though, Little Lost Long Island Girl.

This is the classic Moog filter that changed the sound of electronic music. Reach out and sweep the filter with the CUTOFF knob. Or use the ENVELOPE section to do it automatically. Or plug in one or more expression pedals or control voltages to do it. Or do all three. This is the best-sounding, most playable filter you can have! A 110V power supply is included. What is a Lowpass Filter? A lowpass filter removes high frequencies from a tone. It makes the tone sound more mellow or muted. The lower the cutoff, the more muted the tone sounds. Imagine a window shade. As it is pulled down, it cuts out the higher light, then the light from the middle of the window, then finally all the light. A lowpass filter does the same sort of thing to the sound spectrum. The moogerfooger filter is a direct descendant of the original Moog modular synthesizers. It contains two complete modular functions: a voltage-controlled lowpass filter and an envelope follower. The envelope follower tracks the loudness contour (envelope) of a sound, and produces a voltage that follows the dynamics of your playing. Every time you play a note, the envelope voltage goes up and then down. The harder you play, the higher the envelope voltage goes. The envelope follower opens and closes the lowpass filter. Think of the envelope voltage as an invisible hand that turns the CUTOFF knob up and down every time you play a note. Since the envelope follows the dynamics of your instrument's signal, you actually play the filter as you play your instrument. The moogerfooger filter is also a resonant filter. As you turn up the resonance, the overtones near the cutoff frequency are boosted. Resonance gives the moogerfooger filter the same classic Moog filter sound as the Minimoog and Moog modular synthesizers. The moogerfooger filter's control parameters are signal mix, cutoff frequency, resonance amount, and envelope amount. All of the Lowpas

Korg microKorg XL Analog Modeling Synthesizer with Vocoder (black) Review

Korg microKorg XL Analog Modeling Synthesizer with Vocoder (black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The MicroKorg XL is really a MicroKorg in name only. Whereas the original MicroKorg shared a synth engine with the MS-2000, this one uses the engine found in the R3 and Radius. This is not necessarily a bad thing as those are fine sounding synths, but you'd be better of with a synth like the R3 (which is about $100 more). Although the MicroKorg XL has a cool, faux-vintage look, the construction of the board is pretty shoddy and I doubt it would be good for carting away to gigs or traveling with. It's made from rather cheap, weak feeling plastic unlike the far sturdier R3 or original MicroKorg. Also, while the sound editing is arguably better than the oddball matrix on the original MicroKorg, it pales when compared to the easy editing on a R3. Basically, this is not a bad board soundwise, but you'd be better off saving $100 with an original MicroKorg or putting in an extra $100 for an R3. The MicroKorg XL is not a happy medium, and makes compromises that do not benefit the synth user.

Joining the ranks of the top-selling originals microKORG and R3, the 37-note velocity-sensitive Korg microKorg XL Analog Modeling Synthesizer with Vocoder offers Korg's legendary analog modeling, along with an ergonomic interface, in a lightweight and portable keyboard. The microKorg XL employs full eight-voice multi modeling technology, a 16-band vocoder, on-the-fly parameter editing and USB MIDI connectivity, all packaged with the great-feeling Natural Touch keyboard action. The MMT (Multi Modeling Technology) sound engine is descended from the RADIAS/R3 synthesizers, while the dual effects processors come down from the famous KAOSS line. The black key/white key proportions have been adjusted for easier chording; the key response has been improved for rapid-fire soloing. Together with a sound-bending vocoder and six-pattern arpeggiation, microKORG XL packs a powerful sonic punch. The eight-voice MMT synth engine offers traditional analog waveforms plus a total of seven algorithms, including formant waveforms, noise, and PCM/DWGS waves for those vintage keyboards and strings. Cross-modulation, unison stacking, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) let you create sounds that would be impossible for a conventional PCM synthesizer. Sync and ring modulation make it easy to create complex and powerful sounds. Two multi-mode filters, a drive/waveshaping circuit for distinctively distorted sounds, and EG and LFO for creating time-varying tonal change, provide plenty of parameters for serious synthesis. Virtual Patching brings it all together.

EMG KH20 Kirk Hammett Active Pickup Set with Pickguard Review

EMG KH20 Kirk Hammett Active Pickup Set with Pickguard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I went back and forth on buying this active pickup set for a few weeks. Amazon had a great deal on it one day and I finally decided to purchase and test it out. I'm glad I did!
The packaging, documentation, and components are all very high quality. It comes with everything you need for installation, including pickguard screws (I didn't know this).
The single coils really do retain that Strat sound, and the EMG 81 is awesome for heavier riffs/songs. This pickup set provides a lot of flexibility. One day I may post some sound clips to my website.
Installation was pretty easy in a Fender Squire Affinity Strat. The body cavity wasn't deep enough for the battery, so I needed to route out about a half inch below the knobs. I used a Dremel for this with a router bit and a cutting bit. There was NO soldering involved - everything connects to a circuit board underneath the knobs. Very cool.
I highly recommend this pickup set.

Kirk is truly the soloist of the decade and EMG pickups are the tools of his trade. One of the ways he gets his fierce solid tone and tight searing harmonics is from his signature Pro-Series system, the EMG-KH20, a soloists dream setup. This system joins the EMG-81 with a pair of EMG-S single-coil pickups. These pickups are all built around ceramic magnets for the tightest, most controlled sound with incredible versatility. This setup comes with two tones and a master volume all wired onto a custom 11-hole white pearl pickguard with contrasting black knobs. Hear for yourself why this powerful setup was the choice of a rising star back in the day and endures as the sound of a generation.

Empress Tremolo Review

Empress Tremolo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got an Amazon gift card for my birthday with the instructions to buy something fun with it, to splurge a little. This is what I chose. I don't really *need* a tremolo (I'm not a performer), but it sure is fun to play with!
I researched a lot of tremolo pedals before deciding on this one (thanks, ProGuitarShop! I owe you one). I chose it primarily because of what I heard, but also due to the impressive amounts of controls that are available. If there's a certain trem sound you're trying to achieve, I can almost guarantee you can get it with this box! I won't go over all the controls because that's in the product description. I can tell you that tap tempo is *awesome*, almost a must-have. It will spoil you. The tube style trem is great for all-around applications, while the square style is a lot of fun to play with. I haven't used the triangle much yet, but then again I just got the box.
Besides tap tempo, another feature that is unique and awesome is the rhythm settings. Check around on YouTube for some demos of them. It's a nice touch that really sets this product apart from other tremolo effects.
On the negative side, there are a few small things that I don't like, though not deal-breakers. First, the tempo LED will continue to flash as long as the unit has power. That can be annoying for home hobbyists like myself. Second, there is no way to save presets. Finally, this unit does not run on battery power, yet an AC adapter must be purchased separately.
Even with those few minor concerns, I still rate this product as five stars due to sound and features.

Pristine Sound - The Empress Tremolo has to be heard to be believed. Its whisper quiet and free from the "LFO throb" usually associated with tremolos. We dare anyone to find a better sounding tremolo.Waveform Selection - You can modulate your sound with three different waveforms. An asymmetrical tremolo was modeled after a '65 Fender Vibrolux (brown face) to give you the fullest tremolo sound possible. A square wave can be utilized if you're after a harder sound. And if you're looking for a more normal tremolo, you can use the triangle wave setting.Tap Tempo - The Empress Trem averages your last four taps so it plays in sync with your music. You can also choose different tap to tremolo rate ratios. 1:1, 1:2, and 1:4 are available. Two Speed Mode - An exclusive feature to the Empress Trem. You're able to set two different rates, and switch between them using the tap tempo stomp switch. This is similar to playing through a Leslie cabinet and changing the speed.Rhythms - Another exclusive feature. The Empress Trem will definitely do your run-of-the-mill tremolo sound to a tee. But you can also set it to play different rhythms. Check out the soundclips for examples.Gain - A problem with most tremolos on the market is that when they're engaged, you hear a noticeable drop in volume. The Empress Trem solves this by having a gain stage on the output. It's able to deliver up to 6dB of gain without adding any distortion to the signal.True Bypass - The Empress Trem employs true bypass, so you can be sure that it's not affecting the signal when disengaged.Perfect Size - The enclosure measures approximately 4.5" by 3.5" by 1.5", which is delightfully small when considering all the features packed into this unit.Four Year Warranty - The Empress Tremolo comes with a two-year warranty. You can extend the warranty to 4 years by simply registering online.

Korg microKorg Analog Modeling Synthesizer with Vocoder Review

Korg microKorg Analog Modeling Synthesizer with Vocoder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The MicroKorg is probably the finest synth you'll ever get at that price. It's very small (same size as many of those toy keyboards you grew up as a kid, but this is no toy), and has 37 keys, although the big criticisms here is Korg opted for toy keyboard-sized keys, rather than full-sized keys (the similar sized and similarly priced Alesis Micron, also 37 keys, used full-sized keys). It's a four note polyphonic virtual analog synth capable of fantastic analog sounds, with all the great sounds of the '70s, '80s, and '90s! It's essentially a Korg MS-2000 in a small package, but with an 8-band vocoder (instead of 16-band), and a superior arpeggiator, great for all you electronica and techno buffs out there, or those who want to create Tangerine Dream-like rhythms without the bulky gear that group had to use back in the glory days of the mid '70s. I've been aware of vocoders for ages, and of course, was a huge trademark in Kraftwerk's sound (they started using vocoders starting with 1973's Ralf & Florian, which is one album prior to their famous breakthrough, Autobahn), I am so happy to now personally own a vocoder, that is, one included in a synth. It has a condensor microphone for use of a vocoder, although you can hook up any standard microphone too. Like most any synth made in the last 20-25 years, it's MIDI, so you can have it interact with other MIDI synths, drum machines, your computer, or any other MIDI device.
Although it comes with an AC adapter for home and studio use, you'll be happy that you can use 6 AA batteries, so you can bring it with you on your next camping adventure (plus it has a headphone jack too, since hooking it up to speakers might be a bit difficult in the Great Outdoors).
It's also fully programmable, you can alter the sounds already included, or you can erase one of the settings and start from scratch. I really love the features you can do here. You can have it polyphonic, or monophonic for use of soloing, or retro-'70s analog sounds. It has two oscillators, you have many different choices of waveforms. You can edit the arpeggiator so you can get it to do different rhythms (it can do up to a sequence of 8 notes). I also really like the delay feature, to get that echo sound when you release the note, it really gives it a fuller sound. You can get it to pan for that wonderful stereo effect, or select a phasor. You can even program it to have the pitch wheel and modulation wheel do things, such as altering pitch, the resonance, vibrato, etc. There'e two edit knobs, and five more knobs to help you with the programming. But I very much suggest you read the instruction manual, or you might have a hard time programming it. But once you get a hang of it, you'll have a ton of fun programming your own sounds and see what you can do. Despite the keys itself, it's actually a fully professional synthesizer.
The MicroKorg might be geared for the younger audience, thanks to its low price and many of the techno sounds it can do, but Jean Michel Jarre uses one and he's hardly young. Not to mention you can make it do a lot of non-techno sounds too, like classic '70s analog sounds, or '80s polyphonic synth sounds (like what you hear on Van Halen's "Jump") so it doesn't just appeal to the young segment.
It's great see many professional musicians using it from Jean Michel Jarre right down to Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. I even saw a documentary directed by Hans Fjellestad called Moog, which was about Robert Moog and of Moog synthesizers, and they showed several techno/electronic groups where the main emphasis was on their Moog gear (naturally), but one group was clearly shown with a MicroKorg.
This is no 88 key workstation, that's for sure. In some cases that's a good thing, especially if you like in a small apartment and you're concerned about space, but for such a small synth, I am completely blown away at what this can do. You really need to try and buy this synth, you won't be disappointed!

The microKORG boasts the same dual-oscillator DSP synthesis engine found in Korg's critically acclaimed MS2000 and offers a wider selection of waveforms than any other modeled synth. Oscillator 1 features a total of 71 waveforms. These include traditional analog waves like saw, pulse, sine and noise, plus more unique choices like Vox wave and cross wave. Together they provide a cool selection that can be modulated to produce an extensive range of timbres. In addition, 64 exclusive DWGS waveforms from Korg's classic DW-8000 enable the microKORG to reproduce a broad collection of imitative sounds. Sounds like bells, electric pianos, guitars, basses and more that would be difficult reproduce on an analog synthesizer. You can also apply Ring and Sync modulation from Oscillator 2 to create the kind of complex timbres that are the true sign of an advanced synthesizer.Four filter modes are available, offering -12 dB (2-pole) low pass, high pass and band pass configurations plus an extra steep -24 dB (4-pole) low pass setting. All include resonance. Two classic ADSR envelope generators and two MIDI-syncable LFOs provide the power to shape your sounds. Add a Virtual Patch matrix that lets you create advanced modulation settings – routing the Mod Wheel to control filter cutoff or pulse width, using an LFO to control panning or amp level, etc. – and you have performance that is unheard of from a synthesizer in this price range!

Moog Music MF103 Moogerfooger Twelve Stage Phaser Pedal Review

Moog Music MF103 Moogerfooger Twelve Stage Phaser Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just bought this pedal and I must say, I will never again buy any other chorus/flange/phase shifter pedal again! I have a Boss BF-3 stereo flange and an Electro-Harmonix small cone full-chorus unit and neither of them even come close to the prestige of the Moog stage phaser. The tones and sounds that this pedal produces are like none that I have ever heard before. This pedal comes fully load with an extremely diverse collection of sounds that opens your ears to a whole new world of noises! An excellent choice.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Moog Music MF103 Moogerfooger Twelve Stage Phaser Pedal

The MF-103 produces two comb-filter responses. They are called 6-Stage and 12-Stage, because of the number of phase-shifting circuits that are used internally. The 6-Stage mode has three dips in its frequency response, while the 12-Stage mode has six dips. These two modes have distinctly different sound qualities. In addition, the MF-103 features a variable feedback circuit which increases the resonance, or 'depth' of the phaser sound. Features RATE rotary control, which varies LFO's frequency over a 250:1 range. AMOUNT rotary control, which adjusts the amount by which the LFO output varies the phaser sweep. SWEEP rotary control, which moves the phaser frequency response over a six-octave range. RESONANCE rotary control, which adjusts the height and sharpness of the peaks of the phaser frequency response. DRIVE rotary control, which adjusts the gain of the audio input to the phaser. OUTPUT LEVEL rotary control, which balances the phaser signals with the bypassed signal. LO-HI rocker switch, which chooses between the low LFO range (0.01 Hz to 2.5 Hz) and the high LFO range (1.0 Hz to 250 Hz). LEVEL, a three-color LED that is used to set the DRIVE control. LFO, a LED that indicates the LFO rate. whether the phaser is active or bypassed. ON/BYPASS, a rugged, smooth-acting 'stomp switch'. Phasing is one of the best ways to impart motion to a track and to make sounds come alive. With the MF-103 Phaser you can get swirling, shimmering, vibrating effects; fill up a whole stage from one sound source; even create brand new sonic textures. A phaser is a type of comb filter, so called because its frequency response has several dips and peaks, like the teeth of a comb. As the phaser response sweeps back and forth across the frequency spectrum, the harmonics of the audio input signal are alternately increased and decreased. This produces the classic phaser 'whooshing' sound.
