Many Chinese basses use European names (such as "Vienna" or "Hamburg") to make you think that you are getting a bass made in Europe. Verify what country your bass is made in. Also verify, and this is important, that the bass has been set up by a professional. ANY bass without a set up and carrying cheap no-brand strings will be almost impossible to play in any venue. Frankly, basses in this price range are made on the cheap and are known throughout the music industry as throwaways. There ARE some decent ones at this price that come with set ups and professional grade strings. Do an internet search and check the upright bass forums. There is lots of good information out there to be gleaned before spending over a thousand dollars. But know this as a fact: Do not spend LESS than a thousand dollars for you will be spending in on nothing worth more than a stack of scrap wood.
