Seagull Coastline Cedar GT QI Guitar Review

Seagull Coastline Cedar GT QI Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been playing my trusty Seagull Coastline GT for years and it is an excellent instrument. Hand crafted in North America (Canada) by the Seagull guitar company, this guitar is on par with American made Martin's and Gibson's as far as quality and sound.
I prefer the cedar top acoustic guitars because I think they have a warmer and mellower tone for the lower end, but also sound great with clear ringing high notes on the upper end. It also just keeps sounding better with age.
Overall, this is an excellent acoustic/electric guitar that sounds equally as well unplugged as it does through an amp. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality made, but affordable, acoustic or acoustic/electric guitar.

In addition to the new compound-curve bracing system, the Coastline Cedar Gloss Top features a Custom Polished Finish and it's about the same thickness as our semi-gloss treatment but buffed to a high luster. This is truly a great breakthrough in that the guitar has the added responsiveness provided by an extra light finish along with the great looks of high-gloss.

Seagull Coastline S6 Spruce Guitar - FBA Review

Seagull Coastline S6 Spruce Guitar - FBA
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just got back from Guitar Center with the S6 acoustic, and I have to say it is an extremely nice guitar. I paid $370 with a case thrown-in to sweeten the deal. Here's my review.
Appearence = (9) Visually, the headstock takes alittle getting used to, and I really like the two-tone difference of the body and neck. I also like the binding around the headstock and outter lining of the body. This guitar looks extremely well put together, and could probably sell for a much higher price.
Sound quality = (9) If you want a big resonating acoustic for under $500.00 this is the guitar for you. Crisp treble and smooth bass are to be expected upon purchase.
I wasn't even looking to buy an acoustic, but I had to have it after I picked up the guitar. Most acoustics sound dull to me, but the S6 projects beautiful tones from it's big-bodied design.
Playability and action = (10) As far as acoustics, this is the first one I have played that really feels like an electric guitar in my hands. Bending strings and adding vibrato are easily accomplished on this guitar. The entire body is smooth as butter, and the neck is extremely fast. I personally hate a finished backing on any of my guitars. Pleasently, this guitar seems to have none, and feels silky smooth to the touch.
Workmanship = (10) This guitar is extremely well put together. I especially like how fast and precise the tuners are on the guitar.
Hope this helps in your decision, now go out and try one for yourself!

The S6+ Spruce is an ideal choice for players who prefer the brighter (more high frequencies) sound of a Spruce top. The guitars that make up the Seagull S series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the S series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple, Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, Wild Cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. S series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.

Norman Encore B20 High Gloss Guitar Review

Norman Encore B20 High Gloss Guitar

(More customer reviews)
Our nonprofit, Guitars in the CLassroom, receives donations of guitars for use with the teachers we instruct; among those we receive, Godin provides us with the best guitars from the companies who support us, Kaman, Martin (yes, Martin!), Saga, etc. This B20 just came back from a teacher to whom we had loaned it for her use in the Classroom with her students, as she has now purchased her own - probably not as amazing as this loaner was! When I played it, I was blown away with the power and tone....and the construction detail was superb (and I assume we are getting Blems or 2nds....but I can't tell what the defect might be.) Buy one of these, and revel in what a true large acoustic can do for both group singing and recording. What a sweet guitar! Thanks Godin....

The B20 is the foundation of all the Norman guitars. The solid spruce top and lacquer finish alone distinguish this guitar. The three-layer laminate of cherry wood used in the back and sides of the B20 produces a tone that sounds warmer than maple but brighter than a mahogany guitar. The B20's tone works beautifully for recording and blends nicely when amplified on stage.

The Vintage Series has sold well because of the uniformity of quality that has marked this series. The OM 28V has soft and beautiful tone and sustain. Balance between bass and treble is amazing and the vesatility shows in blues as well as the volume needed for bluegrass. This guitar does it all. The aging toner darkens with the impact of UV from light and goes vintage within a few years.

I have owned one of these for about 2 years. It is great! If you chord, there is no better accompaniment for your voice. If you finger pick, there's plenty of room between the sets of strings. It's soundboard puts out plenty of volume. The more I play it the better it is sounding.

Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QIT Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Rustic Review

Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QIT Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Rustic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I won't lie to you, I'm a Seagull guy. I went in looking for a great guitar at a great price, and while I was open to veer away from my coveted Seagull-made guitars if the right deal were to be available, I simply couldn't do it. I tried out a bunch of different guitars in my price range, and the Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QI(T) won, hands down. First of all, the tuning machines are basically the solid chrome Ping tuning machine heads disguised with Seagull logos. I love this because I am very picky about my tuning machines and often swap out my guitars' machine heads for said Ping parts. Next, the nut width of the neck is narrower than the standard Seagull nut width, which makes it more comparable to a Martin or Taylor or something of that nature. This makes the transition for a non-Seagull acoustic player a little smoother. Third, the action is comfortable, but not too comfortable. If the action is too low and too easy to push down, sound is compromised, this is not so here. I believe this is the softest action a guitar can have without taking away from the sound or causing buzzing or things of that nature. The Godin electronics are flawless, and sleekly designed. As in the "Rustic" name, even the electronics stay true to this look, and the style and functionality are both top of the line. This is one of the few (if not only) Seagull in this price range with a cutaway, and that is important because it allows for more flexibility and mobility on the neck for those who like to utilize every available fret on the guitar. The overall look is nice. At first, I thought the sunburst was a little too much, but after a couple hours of staring at it, I have grown to love it. Finally the most important thing about this guitar is the sound. The guitar possesses a very full, vibrant, diverse sound. There is a slight twang in the timbre, but it is not overbearing, leaving for a warm and perfect acoustic sound for almost any style or application. I do not believe a better guitar can be bought for this price, but I must point out the negative. As with my old Seagull, the wood feels rather soft, so with some ruckus playing and misguided strumming, the wood can wear away and damage the surface more easily than other guitars. This is a small price to pay for an otherwise very powerful acoustic-electric package. Besides, I like when my guitars get that worn-in look, so this is not at all a negative for me personally. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a guitar as in such a short time; it has grown so dear to my heart.

Seagull Coastline S6 Cedar GT Guitar Review

Seagull Coastline S6 Cedar GT Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just purchased this Coastline Cedar S6 this week. I looked at twenty other models for under $700 that had laminated back and sides online and listening through youtube. I sent back two after trying them out,(sounded like plywood when strummed). This Seagull is overlooked in my opinion. The combination of the cedar and cherry make this dred sound wonderful when strummed. The sustain rings for a long time. I particularly like the wider neck, only 1/8 inch more, it gives you room to maneuver big fingers or in the case of a beginner, less chance of deadening an open string. If you need a beginner guitar or a campfire backup, and want good quality and sound, consider this one. I bought it as my campfire-travel guitar to augment my expensive Martin. P.S. The satin finish and the light coating on the cedar top is the key to the beautiful sound! Put some new coated strings on it before you decide!

Seagull Maritime SWS Folk HG QI Guitar Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this guitar as a practice guitar and one to bring to my weekly lessons. My primary instrument is a custom guitar from one of the top luthiers. I wanted a guitar that I could have easy access to so as to increase my practice time. I purchased this guitar because of its wide neck, small size and the excellent reviews I had read.
I am very pleased with this guitar. It sounds great. I lowered the action by shaving the height of the saddle. It is extremely playable. It is a tremendous value. I bought the version with the built in pickup which works very well.
Although I bought it as a practice guitar it is good enough to be a primary instrument. I also purhased the amazing value Seagull Gig Bag on Amazon which fits the guitar like a glove.
Highly recommended.

I bought this guitar for my daughter's 16th birthday gift! She is just learning to play but I wanted her to have a really nice guitar to start with and that would last her a while and after researching this one I decided that it was the one! The price is very affordable and being so much below retail price it is SO worth it! I have had several friends and family members that play and they have played it and have loved how it sounds and the quality of the guitar! Therefore...I would have to say that anyone who buys this guitar will not be disappointed!!!

Seagull Coastline S6 Burst GT QI Guitar Review

Seagull Coastline S6 Burst GT QI Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had the Seagull S6 Burst Q1 for a few weeks now and it's a beauty of a guitar. I received it in perfect condition from Amazon, not a ding to be found, and the action was set up quite nicely out of the box. The onboard electronics, though simple and somewhat limited in terms of control, sound really nice to me. However, I play the guitar through a Fender electric amp (Blues Jr.) so I may not be as qualified a judge of sound as someone with a dedicated acoustic set-up.
The guitar sounds fantastic acoustically as well. The cedar produces a nice warm sound, and though not as loud or "boomy" as a spruce top, there is a fullness of tone to this guitar that I have rarely (if ever) found in the sub $1000 price range. It plays well and I haven't had any issues with the tuners. The onboard electronic tuner is accurate and easy to use.
It's worth mentioning that the guitar I received from Amazon looks QUITE different from the photo pictured. The pickguard is tortoise (not black) and the wood burst is more of a brown/light brown color rather than the black/orange stock photo. I'm not sure if there's just a lot of variance with how these models look or if Amazon (and every other online seller of this guitar) has an outdated picture. I'll post some photos of my guitar on Amazon when I get the chance.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the guitar. For the price I paid I feel like I got an amazing deal, but it doesn't do the guitar justice to say that it's a great guitar "for the money." It's a great guitar, period.

And the more you play this guitar, the grains in the wood start to open up and give you a better sound. if you are looking for a down side, i cant give you one. Seagull Entourage Rustic Mini Jumbo Guitar Review

Seagull Entourage Rustic Mini Jumbo Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Another reviewer stated they had done their research before buying. Well goody...I came into contact with this guitar while trying to amend an earlier mistake in purchase. I have big fingers and a guitar with an 1 11/16th nut width does not allow me to make clear, squeak free chord changes and with some chords, my fingers are so cramped that I cannot play. Enter this guitar, I was at a local dealer and was attracted to the finish and picked up the guitar and played an acoustic blues piece that I had been unable to play due to the problem noted above. The nut width of this guitar (1.72 inches) allowed me to play the piece free of the cramps and squeaks and other issues plus...the cedar top and wild cherry laminate back and sides allows me - a fingerstyle player - to get a sound that approximates the warm midrange that I hear on old blues pieces. The jumbo body is comfortable - much smaller than a comparable model from a name maker (gibson or taylor), and it is quite evident that Seagull has taken care here to make a guitar that provides a great deal of value for your out of pocket expense. Do I have gripes? Yes - I do not like the rubber or plastic ring around the soundhole and would have gladly paid a little more for a real herringbone presentation but this is minor stuff. If you are a strummer, this guitar will not respond to a harsh attack - the cedar top is overpowered very quickly. But if you play fingerstyle, this is a great entry level guitar to start with. For the average price advertised on the net (300.00 to 350.00), you are getting a great guitar made in North America.

I bought this guitar a little over two hours ago at a local guitar shop in Chicagoland. I intended on buying a guitar in Seagull's Artist series that was more than twice it's price. After playing both, it seemed senseless to spend more on another guitar. The S6 Slim is the guitar I have been dreaming about for years. This is the most beautiful guitar you will hear, at ANY price. The Seagull S6 Guitar – The Original Updated for Left-Handed GuitaristsWinner of several awards, the S6 is perhaps the instrument that best represents the Seagull philosophy. The S6 offers entry level players the opportunity to experience the great feel and superb sound provided by a hand finished neck, select solid Cedar top and a Custom Polished Finish. The back and sides are constructed of wild cherry, the neck of silver-leaf maple, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Seagull guitars all feature Tusq nuts and saddles. The fully compensated saddle helps the Seagull S6 original acoustic guitar play beautifully in-tune all over the neck. This model for the Seagull S6 guitar is designed with left-handed guitarists in mind.
The Seagull Original Guitar SeriesThe guitars that make up the Seagull Original series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the Original series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple, Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, Wild Cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. Original series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.
All Seagull Guitars Feature Reverse HeadstocksEach Seagull neck starts out as a single piece of Mahogany or Silver Leaf Maple. The wood is cut at a 45 degree angle after which the top piece - the Headstock - is glued back on with the grain reversed. This is an essential step in the Seagull process for creating incredibly stable necks.
More About Seagull GuitarsThe Seagull story wouldn't be complete without mentioning La Patrie. La Patrie is a small village in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. This is where the first Seagulls were made in the early eighties. Today, La Patrie has a population of about 475 and about half of these people are guitar builders. These folks take a great deal of pride in the guitars they build.

This is a solid top spruce and solid mahogany back and sides guitar. It is a great guitar, a keeper. I purchased mine second hand, but would have gone for this deal on Amazon as the price is so good. Where else can you get this kind of quality and build for such a low price. Mine was in need of a professional set-up as the action did seem a tad high. The difference was amazing. A few years ago I purchased a Martin D35, its a great guitar, i love to play it but I have to say I can hardly tell the difference now that the set-up has been done on this Seagull. The work cost $85 but is essential to get the best out of these astonishingly good value, well made guitars. I will never sell mine. Lastly, for the beginner guitarist, buy this solid wood guitar, you will never need another, and nothing else compares for the price at this spec. Well done Seagull!
