Luna Muse Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Guitar, Quilted Ash Review

Luna Muse Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Guitar, Quilted Ash
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I started playing instruments in 1995 and started playing bass guitar in 1998. I started playing electric guitar around 2001. I custom built my first bass in 2000. This was the first acoustic guitar I have purchased. I did a lot of research and listened to the recordings on Luna's website. I had wanted to purchase the fauna phoenix, but one day I saw this one for sale for less than 250 shipped. I bought it unseen and unplayed, breaking my first rule of guitar shopping, and was very nervous before it arrived.
My apprehension was unfounded. The guitar is stunning. The abalone inlays look excellent. The wood is beautiful. Even the tuning machines look good. The physical beauty of the guitar is surpassed only by its sound. I strum it as I walk past it's stand because it just sounds so good. The harmonics are amazing.
The guitar was set up perfectly when it arrived. The strings where brand new, so it's tuning fluctuated a bit for about a week. Since then the tuning has been very stable, and the strings all seem to detune in tune with each other. The tuner makes it so this isn't a problem. The on board tuner is very convenient, so much so that I couldn't find my electric tuner when I needed it for one of my basses.
I have several friends who have played acoustic guitar much longer than I have and they all love it. From my limited experience it sounds as good or better than any other acoustic I have played. It sounds much better than my friends cheap fender, and on par or better than another friends taylor.
I only have 2 complaints. First, there is no strap button on the neck of my guitar. Second, I don't know what kind of strings are on it. I want to restring it with the same kind because they sound great. I usually try 4 or 5 different string sets before I stick with one for a guitar. However, no one has answered my questions concerning this on the Luna Guitars Forum.
This is now my favorite guitar (out of 7, basses included). If you can find one for 250, its a steal. Buy it.

Luna Henna Oasis Nylon String Acoustic/Electric Guitar Review

Luna Henna Oasis Nylon String Acoustic/Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I fell in love with a guitar over the internet, and rightfully so. When I received the Luna, faster than I ever would have thought possible, it was every bit as wonderful as I imagined. It had a great action, great sound, a bit heavier than I expected but definitely a worthy guitar for my classroom. Unfortunately it did not have the Orion 4 band preamp ( "Preamp: Orion 4-Band EQ w/ Digital Tuner" - still posted on the website as of the date I am writing this, October 29, 2009) that was advertised. I called up customer service and a very nice representative offered to send a return slip, but while I was waiting online, I visited the site and noticed that the Luna Guitars were no longer shipping with the Orion, they were now shipping with the T35 B-Band which is advertised on the website as an Orion, ("* HEN OAS NYL Laser etched Henna - * Body: Folk - * Top: Solid Cedar - * Back/Sides: Maple - * Neck: Mahogany - * Fretboard: rosewood - * Preamp/Tuner: Orion - * Scale: 25 1/2" - * Nut: 1 5/8" - * Finish: Satin - * 39 1/2" x 14 7/8" x 4 3/8" - * 5.4 lb. - * Case Option: LL2") but Derek Badala, the Division Manager at Luna Guitars said it was made by another manufacturer and was actually superior to the Orion even though it had only three bands of Equalization and no balanced out! So I asked her to have her people look into it and get back to me when they determined exactly what could be done and she eventually agreed to contact me by E-mail the following week.
Instead of contacting me, Amazon sent out another guitar with a bill of sale that read $0.00, which I suspected was too good to be true. This guitar was the same model and had the Orion four band, but the neck was not finished nearly as well and had a pronounced "Buzz" between the second and fifth frets. Both guitars were also missing the end button as well. Since Amazon hadn't contacted me, I made three attempts to contact them and finally got through on the second day. Both guitars are going back as defective, and I am regretfully giving up on my attempts to purchase this guitar. If this is Amazon's idea of customer service, they will definitely have more to worry about than losing me as a customer. I have saved all of the correspondence, as well as copies of the web pages, just in case anyone thinks I am making this up or twisting the facts in some way. [...]
Addendum: Just to clear up some misunderstandings, I was not complaining about Luna's customer service, just Amazon's. Luna's people have been very helpful. I was also apparently not offered a second guitar for free. They did not notify me that they were sending it, send me a way to return the first guitar, or contact me first as agreed, but the customer service representative that I contacted never offered that as an option. My initial complaint was that they did not send the guitar with the specifications as advertised. When they sent the second guitar without my knowledge or consent (our agreement was that they would contact me with more information as to what my options would be after they contacted the manufacturer) I offered them a donation letter on School letterhead to defray any cost they may have incurred by sending the additional guitar. If there were two guitars involved, I would certainly not have returned either of them. I also notified Amazon that we had a qualified Luthier on staff, who would agree to do the repairs if I got permission and it did not affect the warranty. I also have to say that Amazon does deserve credit for posting this as I typed it, unedited and without editorial comment, but it was their decision entirely to demand that I return both of the guitars as defective and I was not offered any other option.
I still hope to put a Luna guitar in my classroom. I want one with the specifications advertised, and I want it to be the best guitar that my students can possibly get. If I had received this product from a free standing store, I would have accused them of "Bait and Switch!" When I received an additional instrument with an invoice of $0.00, my reaction is the same as the other reviewer, that someone has sent me a free guitar. Taking back both of the guitars as defective left me feeling betrayed and bewildered and since they have offered me this forum to express my disbelief and utter dis-satisfaction, I have chosen to do so.
I am certainly not trying to discourage any one from owning a Luna Guitar. It should not need a neck job right after it comes out of the box, and it should not be missing parts, even minor ones, but I was very impressed with the first guitar I received and if it had been offered with the B-Band in the first place, I would be posting a five star rating, end of story. I hope this clears everything up but if it doesn't, let me know and I will be happy to elucidate further.

Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic Guitar Starter Pack, Powder Pink Review

Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic Guitar Starter Pack, Powder Pink
Average Reviews:

Late winter 2006 I heard Bob Edwards interviewing Patty Larkin re: her La Guitara project. One of Patty's goals is to get more little girls playing guitar. I heard that and immediately thought of my cousin's 9 yo daughter Meganne. I sent Meganne the La Guitara CD & asked her if she'd like to learn to make that kind of music. Meganne is now the proud owner of a powder pink Pixie acoustic. The reduced girth of the neck is perfect for a girl's hand. Daisy Rock offers the Pixie alone or as part of a starter pack; I chose the latter option. My whole family is quite pleased with Daisy Rock Girl Guitars.

Luna OracleAcoustic/Electric Guitar, Dolphin Review

Luna OracleAcoustic/Electric Guitar, Dolphin
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this guitar for myself after seeing it on Gold Box for significantly less than MSRP. Before purchasing, I checked out Luna's website and listened to several sound clips and watched videos of some professional musicians playing Luna guitars. I currently own a Taylor 410, and a couple of low-end Yamaha acoustic guitars. I consider myself somewhere between an intermediate to advanced guitar player. I've been looking for an acoustic-electric cutaway, at a reasonable price, for several months. I thought I couldn't go wrong with this Luna at the Gold Box price.
When the "first" guitar arrived, the box had obvious shipping damage (bent in half at the neck area). Upon opening the box, I discovered the top half of the neck snapped completely off, dangling by its strings. These guitars are simply wrapped once around with a VERY thin layer of foam wrap (about 1 mm thick), and stuffed in a cheap, lightweight cardboard box. I couldn't believe a guitar manufacturer would package a guitar with so little padding and protection, and worse yet, that Amazon would ship the guitar in the same flimsy box from Luna (without putting it in another box).
The return process was simple and painless: I provided Amazon with a brief explanation of why I wanted to return the guitar, and this triggered an automatic shipment of a replacement guitar. I printed a pre-paid UPS shipping label, and dropped the package off at a local UPS store.
The "second" guitar arrived about a week later. Once again, the guitar arrived in the same flimsy box, this time with a fairly large hole torn in the outside. I was pleasantly surprised to find no obvious damage to the guitar, however, the neck had a large finish crack on the back near the body of the guitar. This was not shipping damage, but a gross manufacturing defect. At least with this guitar I was able to play it and give it the once-over. The strings were mediocre, and the action was a bit high. Tone quality was marginal. The built-in electronic tuner worked well and the electronics appeared to be decent, although I never had a chance to plug in to an amplifier. The return process was then repeated.
The "third" guitar arrived, again, about a week after the second was returned. This time, the guitar was packaged in a second, heavier box, which was encouraging, although the inside box was not sealed and had been opened. After taking the guitar out and playing it a bit, I thought the third time was the charm. I thought wrong. This time, the finish at the bottom edge of the body looked like it was delaminated and could peel away. The blemish could very well have been from an impact, which makes me wonder if this guitar had been a customer return. While I had the guitar out, I played it just to get a comparison with the second one. It was very similar in sound and playability, with the action also being a bit high. Due to three strikes with three different guitars, I opted not to get a replacement, but requested a refund instead.
At a glance, these guitars appeared to be fairly well made, but fit and finish quality is far from excellent. I would expect a guitar with an MSRP around $600 to be free from dust specks in the finish, and the edge binding should line up well at the seams, and be blemish-free. None of the three Luna guitars I received met these expectations.
In my opinion, this is a risky purchase if you expect excellent quality, durable packaging, and great sound.

After having the worst experience ever ordering a Dean guitar from Amazon I saw this deal a few months later as I was looking for a guitar for my wife. I swore I would never buy from Amazon again and was just using it to compare prices.
I am a seasoned guitarist and very picky.
When I clicked on the price for the Butterfly I was shocked to see it at $109.00 I decided what the heck that is $280.00 off the price it must be a mistake or broken but I went for it anyway.
The Guitar showed up on my doorstep packaged perfectly and in perfect condition one day early WOW! I repeat $109.00. This has to be my greatest find ever. It plays like a dream and is well worth Amazons updated $389.00 asking price.
It sounds great unplugged or plugged in and the workmanship is as good as it gets for the price range "beautiful finish, quality set-up,
nice inlays, stays in tune after hard playing and even came with a nice soft case.
My faith has been restored in Amazon !!

Luna Muse Parlor Bubinga Acoustic Guitar Review

Luna Muse Parlor Bubinga Acoustic Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own two of these wonderful solid-wood guitars and I think it's one of the best instruments out there for the costs and quality of materials. The Luna Muse Bubinga is a great small-size professional quality guitar.
It's hard to find a solid-wood (no fillers, no fake woods) guitar that still are hand-made as well. The sound is crisp and clean and surprisingly voices a nice full sound -- i.e. it sounds much bigger than its compact size. It's a great travel guitar and has electronics as well for when you need to plug it in. It makes a perfect starter guitar for young students but I've enjoyed it as well as a 20 year guitar player.
A quick internet search for good travel or starter guitars shows that this is one of the best buys out there and it's almost impossible to find a comparable guitar (low price and solid wood). You won't be disappointed if you get one of these!

Luna Oracle Zen Acoustic/Electric Guitar Review

Luna Oracle Zen Acoustic/Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Luna Oracle Zen by Luna guitars is a great example of false advertisement. The description on there website is completely false. The description speaks of Rosewood inlay, its all plastic. The description says solid spruce and maple wood, its all laminate. The overall construction of the guitar was poorly put together. The jointing of the neck to the body was crooked, There was oversanding on the guitar which showed the plywood underneath the laminate. I returned this guitar shortly after I received it. This guitar was inspected by a certified luthier that happens to be a good friend of mine, and he pointed all of the problems. It would have cost just as much as I payed for the guitar to adjust it. I do not recommend buying anything from this company if you are a serious player, I teach guitar for a living, and Luna is by far the worst guitar I have come across. They had the nerve to put an inspection sticker on the guitar after it was built.

Bought this one for my daughter. I was very disappointed with the dead tin-like sound this instrument produced. I changed the strings, but this didn't make a great deal of difference. I expected a little more quality for the price... this guitar did not deliver.

Luna Fantasie Acoustic Guitar, Mermaid Review

Luna Fantasie Acoustic Guitar, Mermaid

My daughter received this guitar for Christmas. It is GORGEOUS! The neck is narrow enough that her small hands can play it easily, and the electric plug-in aspect allows her to grow into it as she evolves as a musician. The Luna line of guitars have a nice sound quality, and seem to be well made. They certainly are beautiful. Have I heard deeper richer sounds from other guitars? Yes. But this one meets all our needs and then some! Highly recommended.

Luna Fauna Butterfly Acoustic/Electric Guitar Review

Luna Fauna Butterfly Acoustic/Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have short fingers and was thrilled to learn that guitars are being made to fit a woman's hands. To my disappointment, the Fauna Butterfly's frets were 1/16th of an inch shorter than the Alvarez Acoustic guitar that I own which isn't going to make reaching those frets any easier. The neck was just as wide as my Alvarez. In comparison, the Daisy Rock electric that I own has frets a quarter inch shorter than a standard guitar; the neck on the Daisy Rock is more narrow than the Luna. Outside of that, the action was set very nicely; all of the fret markers were perfect (no buzzing). The maple top gives a "brighter" sound than a spruce top, but not as big of a sound as the body is a bit smaller than my standard size acoustic. It plays very well and the electric pickup is nice to have and includes a tuner as well which is a sweet feature. The inlay work is beautiful as is the finish which makes it difficult for me to decide if I'm going to keep this guitar that isn't going to be any easier for me to play. Decisions, decision.!

I chose this guitar for a few reasons; first and foremost being that it looks simple, yet its elegant. Secondly, I had the opportunity to play a similar model at a local music store and was very impressed by the tones, action, and playability of the instrument. Finally, everyone is looking for the guitar that "calls to them." This one just happened to be it for me.

I always wanted to learn how to play guitar. I felt if I bought a guitar that was beautiful and inspiring I would stick to it. I found luna guitars to be the most creative guitars of all. I also looked if they played as good as they look. And they did especially when they are in the hands of Vicki Genfan. I had a hard time choosing only one but I finally settled on this one. Pros
-beautiful
-comfortable in my hands
-narrow neck
-build in electronic tuner
-access to the battery from the side
-the artistic hole gives nice projection when played acoustically
-elegant gloss finish
-it holds tuning very well
-the action is low so it is easy to play
-Top: Solid Spruce
-Da'ddario strings
-can be played electrically
Cons
-the wooden pins were not the highest quality so I replaced them with planet waves wooden pins

Luna Flora Lotus Acoustic Guitar, Tranz Plum/Quilted Maple Review

Luna Flora Lotus Acoustic Guitar, Tranz Plum/Quilted Maple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was my first time buying a Luna Guitar & using Amazon, so you can imagine how nervous I was to purchase something online that could arrive damaged or that it would have some hidden fees and turn out just as or more expensive than if I had just bought it from the store. As it turns out, I had nothing to worry about. The process was easy & clear and way cheaper than the store 20 mins. from my house was selling it. Also, my guitar arrived before the time they specified in excelent condition and as beautiful as I expected it to be. My biggest surprise was to see how light she was (even inside the box) and how comfortable the neck felt in my hand. Definitely great for beginers, although, until you get the calluses needed to play it, I recomend to practice half of the time on a nylon string. The metal strings will feel like they're cutting through your skin after a while, so just use common sense. Other than that, it's a delight.
