Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Left-Handed Guitar, Plum Purple Burst Review

I'm not making a judement on the sound quality as I've a tin ear, but the description for this guitar should say somewhere that it has a plastic back (the resonance cavity is plastic). The Daisy Rock website actually calls the back a composite material, but it looks and feels like plastic. This information, regarding the composite back, was not on the Amazon webpage, or the manufacturer's webpage for this guitar, but on the manufacturer's general page for all guitars of this type, so it was easy to miss. The guitar looks nice and probably plays fine, but $300 for a plastic guitar seems a high price. I returned this and got the next model up (wildwood) which appears to be all wood.

ESP LTD M100FM Electric Guitar (See Thru Black Cherry) Review

ESP LTD M100FM Electric Guitar (See Thru Black Cherry)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this as a secondary, practice guitar. I am quite happy with it. The action is quite low, which I like and the floyd rose isn't too bad (not an original). I've read that this type of floyd rose jumps out of tune too easily, but I have not experienced this at all.
The fretboard is nice and thin, though I prefer my Jackson's more. The strings that came with it were pretty bad, but after installing some XL's the sound was much better. The downside of this guitar, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is the pickups. Normally, it doesn't bother me much especially for a practice guitar, but these are quite horrible. The sound is just bearable after adding some better strings and there is hardly any sustain. The sound is also a mix of cheap crunch + muffle. For this price range though, it's expected and easily remedied if you choose to install a different pair. Overall, I like this guitar. It looks nice, plays comfortably and makes for a nice secondary.

Line 6 Spider III 75-Watt Guitar Combo Amplifier Review

Line 6 Spider III 75-Watt Guitar Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am new to the world of electric guitars, but have been playing acustic for a couple of years now. So I bought a new Fender Stratocaster, and this amp. All I can say is holy crap this thing is awesome. I don't even know what 3/4 of the little knobs do, all I know is that I can spend hours a day messing around and creating totally crazy sounds. And this thing is LOUD, I've only had the balls to turn it a little past 1/2 way....when I did this I tried playing and talking to my wife and it was useless, she couldn't hear a word I was saying. I can't imagine 3/4 volume or all the way power. Since I don't have any experience with effect pedals I really can't comment on how the built in effects measure up, but to a rookie they sound pretty cool. I'm not sure I will ever understand all of the features or how to use them like a professional, but that's why I bought this amp cause I figured it would be hard to grow out of for a casual player with no aspirations of performing in public.

Love this guitar, I have a gibson SG too, both are great for different things, love how this has a floating bridge for the whammy.

The SE Custom is a flat-top double cutaway with a mahogany back, maple top, a curly maple veneer and a natural maple binding.

The SE Custom 22
Playability That Won't Break the Bank Featuring a mahogany body with maple top and flamed maple veneer, a three-piece wide-fat neck with rosewood fingerboard and moon inlays, PRS-designed pickups and chrome hardware, the SE Custom 22 provides utility and quality at a reasonable price.
HFS Pickups Originally meaning Hot, Fat and Screams, the HFS features a powerful ceramic magnet and hot coils for an aggressive tone when cranked, clear highs, searing midrange and thumping bass.
The SE Custom produces a wide range of tonal possibilities enhanced by a variety of switching options including master volume, master tone, and 3-way toggle pickup selector.
Wide Fat Neck The Wide Fat neck has the same nut width as the Wide Thin neck but has a big comfortable profile, similar to PRS's Regular neck. Because of its strength and longer "heel," the Wide Fat neck produces warm tones with lots of sustain.
PRS Tremolo Back in 1984, Paul Reed Smith was granted a patent on his tremolo system. The design elements are simple and resemble the traditional fulcrum tremolo but with some important differences that help ensure return to pitch and a lack of tuning instability. All adjustment screws are inset and made of brass, and there are no rough edges. The tremolo arm stays where you put it, and won't wobble or break off.
SE Custom Available Colors The SE Custom is available in Cherry Sunburst, Gray Black, and Tobacco Sunburst finishes.
Finish PRS finishes their instruments with a polyester basecoat and acrylic urethane topcoat. Acrylic urethane looks and feels the closest to the old nitro-cellulose finishes but without the finish checking.
The PRS Mission Statement Guitar building is an ongoing process of discovery. We are devoted to the guitar's rich heritage while committed to new technologies that will enrich our products with uncompromised tone, playability and beauty. Our success depends on our ability to listen, implement positive change and continually refine our craft.

Washburn Jazz Series J3TSK Electric Guitar Review

Washburn Jazz Series J3TSK Electric Guitar
I found this guitar on Amazon.com and immediately liked the looks of it. I found the description on Amazon to be a little confusing because there were two different descriptions. I finally looked it up on the Washburn web site. When I received the guitar I was pleased to find that it included a pretty descent HS case. When you receive the guitar you will immediately want to change the strings and do your own set up. I had been looking for a guitar made in the USA. The description on Amazon did not state where it was manufactured (China). The description did not list it coming with the HS case. I assumed that it would as that is how it is listed on the Washburn web site. Given the price of the guitar you realize up front that the quality will not be as good as a $1000 guitar. When I received it I was pleasantly surprised. I feel that it would compare nicely to a $1000 guitar.

Schecter Stiletto Custom-4 Electric Bass Guitar (4 String, Vampyer Red Satin) Review

Schecter Stiletto Custom-4 Electric Bass Guitar (4 String, Vampyer Red Satin)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Schecter Stiletto Custom-4 is a very playable Korean-made bass with a very fast neck, decent components, reasonably good wood, and adequate workmanship. Frankly, I bought it because of its neck...it "just felt better" than the Fender Jazz Bass I was comparing it to. This, of course, supports the point that one should demo an instrument before purchasing it because the subtle nuances of tone and feel cannot be gleaned from a Web site. Nevertheless, I'll give it a try.
The Custom-4's body is primarily mahogany. Ecological concerns about rain forest depletion notwithstanding, this is excellent tone wood. The body material works well with the EMG-HZ pickups...providing a sound that is both full and articulate. I use very thin Roto-Sound Funkmaster strings and this wood/pickup combination allows the delicate overtones to shine through the fundamentals the way they're supposed to. The laminated neck is primarily maple with a few layers of walnut. Although this neck is thin, sleek and easily fingered, it is also very stable. The proof of this is that I didn't have to tweak the truss rod much when upgrading from standard gauge strings to the premium ultralights.
I only have one gripe...instead of using a more expensive set of countersunk bolts and nuts to secure the battery compartment cover, Schecter specified plain old wood screws (albeit gold plated). Wood screws do the job, but I'm fairly certain they'll require some guitar tech attention somewhere down the line. Not a show stopper.
Bottom line: the Custom-4 is a very nice, mid-priced bass that looks as good as it sounds. Five stars.
