Jet City Amplification JCA2112RC Guitar Tube Combo Amplifier Review

Jet City Amplification JCA2112RC Guitar Tube Combo Amplifier

I've owned this amp for about 6 months and I love it. This amp is a straight-forward single channel rock and blues amp but you can get into heavy metal with a pedal. The distortion is creamy sounding- and distinctly different from other tube amps at this price point (Peavey Valveking, Bugera V22, Crate V16, Blues Jr.) Thank you Mr Soldano! Not a particularly versatile amp- but I think this amp was not intended to be a jack-of-all-trades. What it does do it does wonderfully. Twenty tube watts is plenty for small gigs and jamming with a drummer. The build quality is excellent. This is the JCA 20H head combined with the Eminence special design speaker with added reverb. The reverb is tube driven and sounds lush, but not surfy. I've heard that this is essentially a Chinese-built Soldano Astroverb 16. This amp LOVES humbuckers. I would buy it again and again. The price has come down since I bought it and I think it's a ridiculous bargain at this point. I would also buy their new 50 watt 2-channel combo however I just don't need that much power. I'm a fan of Jet City !

20W all-tube Combo with Eminence Inside. 'combo" of our JCA20H and JCA12S, with tube-driven reverb included. Easy-access speaker connectors on the rear panel allow JCA2112RC to drive external cabinets either with or without the internal Jet City Eminence Custom driver. Stacked on an additional JCA12S, the speaker volume doubles and the added height brings the controls to arm's length in a small club.

Randall T2H 400-Watt Guitar Amp Head Review

Randall T2H 400-Watt Guitar Amp Head

Brutal amp. The simple control layout makes dialing in your tone very easy and fast. The clean channel sounds very good. The Overdrive channel is very good for rythm, very tight and great definition. The boost has massive gain, and sounds so good. I play a dean dixie rebel and a dean razorback explosion through it, and it really makes them both scream, bringing out their voices like no other amp Ive tried with them. You better know how to control your gain if you crank it up past 5, it is insane. This thing is very loud. I haven't cranked it up past 5 yet, as it's still in the house, and windows are expensive.

The Series One S1-45 from Blackstar delivers high-gain performance with a level of tonal refinement found previously in only the very best boutique and vintage amps. By switching both preamplifier and power amplifier parameters the S1-45 delivers both Class A style tones with a bell-like ring and classic push-pull crunch depending on the mode selected. The Infinite Shape Feature (ISF) control removes the limitations of traditional designs allowing you to tune the tone to exactly the sound you are looking for. Dynamic Power Reduction (DPR) can reduce the power down to 4-1/2W and MIDI switching and a series effects loop make this the ultimate pro's combo.

Blackstar Venue Series HT Club 40 40W Tube Guitar Combo Amp Black Review

Blackstar Venue Series HT Club 40 40W Tube Guitar Combo Amp Black
Average Reviews:

I purchased this amp about two months ago and waited to do a review. I read many reviews on it and saw that the speaker needs "breaking in" like most amps. Right out of the box the amp sounded great. 2 clean channels and 2 overdrive for just about any tone you are looking for. The ISP knob goes from British to American and numerous tones in between. The more you play the better it sounds. This amp is great for playing at home or small venues without a mic. I would certainly purchase another one if anything ever happened to this one.
One suggestion, if you are not familiar with setting up effects pedals with amps please research. On this amp it has a effect loop in the back so throw the modulation pedals there and your OD,compressor, wah, etc in the front. If you go and try one have your money ready because it is hard to walk away from them without buying.

Equipped with 2 channels and 4 modes the Blackstar HT Club 40 is an ideal gigging tube amp for club-sized venues. The 40W EL34-driven power amplifier has amazing punch and dynamics that will easily cut through in a full band situation. Switching to the amazing overdrive channel—equipped with ISF (Infinite Shape Feature)—accesses two more modes: 'classic crunch' and 'super saturated lead.'The Clean Channel on the Blackstar Venue tube amp has two modes, 'boutique' and 'modern' and its own Tone control provides a wide range of clean tones. The Voice switch reconfigures both the preamplifier voicing and gain structure, and the power amplifier damping, to reproduce either ringing Class A Performance in the 'boutique' mode, or very clean and tight Class AB tones in the 'modern' setting. The Overdrive Channel has its own EQ section and a Voice switch that allows the character of the channel to be changed, providing a wide variety of overdriven tones. The channel is characterized by a tone that's high in gain, but lacks any of the detached top-end 'fizz' often found in similar designs. This is a result of unique preamplifier and power amplifier shaping techniques, which cleans up the overdrive beautifully as the guitar volume is reduced. Even at the most extreme settings, the overdrive channel remains natural sounding. The ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major step forward in tone shaping flexibility. The Blackstar amplifier's ISF control shifts the response of the three-control tone stack between a US-type response at one end, and at the other a UK-type response. The tube amp provides an infinite number of alternative tone choices in between the two extremes that would be otherwise unavailable. The Blackstar HT Club 40 tube amp also features a completely natural sounding digital reverb, which is outstandingly musical on both clean and crunch tones. A Dark/Bright switch allows the overall reverb characteris

Krankenstein Plus 120-Watt Tube Guitar Head with Black Grill Review

Krankenstein Plus 120-Watt Tube Guitar Head with Black Grill

It took me a lot of experimenting to get the sounds I wanted, which is similar to Fear Factory or Brujeria. After reading through several forums I was able to dial in a good chunky tone. The klean channel doesn't get much use because turning down the volume of the guitar on the high gain channel gives me the clean sounds I want.

Blackstar HT-5 Series HT-5H 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head, Black Review

Blackstar HT-5 Series HT-5H 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head, Black
Average Reviews:

Played one of these at Guitar Center. It was the Blackstar HT-5 Head hooked up to 2 10" Blackstar cabs. Used a PRS Singlecut SE with it. They also had an Egnater Rebel Head. The Blackstar HT-5 sounded way better than the Egnater IMO and was able to get decent high gain tones at lower volume. The ISF knob makes a big difference in the voicing of the mids of the amp and really changes its character. I also tried to max the gain, Bass @ 10, Mids @ 0, Treble @ 10 and it sounded like mud however that is an extreme metal setting. Cleans are good but not outstanding. Overall this amp has its own sound to it but I would say its closer to a high gain Marshall than it is to a Mesa Rectifier. I believe the power tube it uses isn't a common size but you can find replacements which is something to consider as well. There are also a lot of youtube videos of this amp and I can say it sounds better and more full in person as youtube tends to add a lot of compression.
