Dean Michael Schenker Custom Guitar with Case Review

After sending back the retro model for this custom model, Amazon forgot the case it was supposed to come with.
The guitar smokes, and is Michaels original black/white look he had with the Gibson he and his brother had.
Becouse of the hassle of not getting a case, and no one to bitch at, I sent this one back too.
After thinking it over, I ordered the custom flame model from a different place.
At the price these Schenker V's are going for, nows the time to pick one up.
BTW,
The USA lights out pickups are the best I have heard.
Better than my Jackson dinky.

Dean Razorback V Guitar 25.5 Scale Explosion with Case Review

Dean Razorback V Guitar 25.5 Scale Explosion with Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this item from Musician's Friends through Amazon. The item arrived as expected. When I opened the box I noticed that the product was not the same. First thing is that I did not receive the explosion color, instead I received the two tone green color. I did not like it very much but it is not too bad.
And second I did not receive the item as Amazon describes it. Amazon says that it has a pair of EMG 81/85 pickups, but the guitar came with differents pickups which are not even like the EMG. Very bad pickups. I guess I will have to buy EMG pickups separately. Very very bad for Musician's Friends....what a pitty :(

Dean ML Exotic Electric Guitar Review

Dean ML Exotic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been wanting a Dimebag style Dean for some time now. I have a few friends who own the newer "jagged" Dime Deans and was not impressed with their quality nor expensive price tags. I paid $289.99 for this guitar. That is an UNBELIEVABLE discount. This guitar is with out a doubt my absolute favorite guitar I have ever played. I recently bought a Schecter Hell Raiser FR for around $800. This Dean blows it away. My only let down upon opening the box was well...no case but for the price I paid Im not too upset I have to go buy one. ;)
LOOKS:
The finish is MAPABURL and is quite a stunning alternative to normal "wood" finishes. Its a nice light colored wood with what looks like dark knots in it. The knots look a bit like little skulls. The craftsmanship when it comes to the binding/inlays is as flawless as its gets IMHO. The satin silver hardware also goes perfect with its look. The back of the guitar has a clear coated and stained look. You can see the beautiful Mahogany shining through. Its just so well made. Say what you will, but Korea in recent years has really been making super guitars.
FEEL:
PERFECT balance. Don't let the odd shape fool you. This guitar fits like a glove whether you are sitting or standing. Its surprisingly VERY light as well. This guitar is FAST! The action right out of the box was better than I have ever felt. The 24 and 3/4 scale keeps string tension very low. This means bends and such are a dream. I believe I've never played a guitar with a similar "V" neck contour, but now I don't want to play anything else. The set neck flows flawlessly from the 1st fret to the 22nd wear the joint is more contoured for comfort unlike Les Pauls and most Jacksons. It so easy to play. I think the strings are D'Addario.
SOUND:
I was afraid that the stock Dean pickups would be horrible, but again I was amazed. The bridge sounds very similar to the Seymour Duncan SH-6 I love while the neck is warm and deep sounding. They are very tonal, not just slapped on pickups. Pinch harmonics are effortless. Intonation is spot on. Sustain is unbelievably long. I play a lot of Dimebag style "over bends" and really beat the strings up. This guitar refuses to go out of tune! With the 2 humbuckers, 2 volumes, 1 tone, and not to mention the wood, this guitar has a lot of tone possibilities. I originally wanted a Floyd Rose on it, but they can be such a big hassle and I already have a guitar for that.
PRICE:
Amazon said the MSRP was $999 and I believe you could get it for probably around $700-$800 when they were first produced. But because of the quality and the fact they don't seem to be made anymore, its easily worth $999 IMHO. I paid $289.99 during a Lightning Deal. Unbelievable. Thats just a bit more than the price of 2 hard shell guitar cases. Same price as what I paid for my first real guitar(mexican Fender Strat before they started making Squires and Starcasters in '97). I bought a Dean DIME Stealth a day later at the same price but the MSRP was $1375 and came with a free case. The Exotic wins hands down.
CONS: No free Case. That is all!
PROS: Everything. I only want to play DEANS now.
This guitar stands normally at about $390 (EDIT: $285!!!) on Amazon now and I'm trying to stop myself from buying another. Don't let this pass you by. It will destroy alot of fancy name brand expensive guitars in a heart beat.

Grover tuners and a locking tremolo keep you in perfect tune for extended dive-bombing. 24 fast frets facilitate wicked, shredding solos and lightning quick chord changes. 3-way switching, volume and tone control keep things simple, yet tonally flexible, and with tons of presence. Two powerful EMG humbuckers: the EMG-81 in the bridge position provides higher output for overdriven, screaming leads with tons of sustain, and the EMG-85 in the neck position gives a beefy low end and fatter top, great for rhythm and blues.Being a Dean guitar, the Razorback 255 looks as good as it sounds. Dangerous-looking edges are highlighted by color-contrast bevels on the body and outlines on the famous Dean headstock. Dimebag Darrell Abbott's return to Dean Guitars was one of the many things cut far too short by his death near the end of 2004, but his many drawings and ideas have kept the guitar makers at Dean inspired. Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Trans Brazilburst Review

Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Trans Brazilburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's simple, Dean makes the best guitar for the money. Their are nicer guitars out there if you want to pay through the nose. Nobody has the originality that Dean brings to the table. You won't see every douche bag and his mother playing one of these!

The Dean '79 Series Z is built to the original specs of the 1979 Deans, boasting a mahogany body with flame maple top, a set mahogany neck, a pair of Dean zebra humbuckers, Grover tuning machines, and a Tune-o-Matic bridge. Get the vintage tone without the vintage wear and tear, and forget about that boutique price tag.

The Dean '79 Series1979 was a great time for Dean Guitars. Some of Rocks' greatest players played Dean to include: Kansas, ZZ Top, Heart, The Doobie Brothers, Triumph,The Cars, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard--the list goes on.

Dean Guitars builds these beauties to the original specs of the original 1979 Deans, which are now collectibles on the open market. The '79 series uses the Series 2 headstock, larger than the time capsule, and has the same look and feel as their predecessors of the seventies.

The '79 series is available in finishes originally offered in the 1979 Dean catalog, including: Cherry Sunburst, Braziliaburst, and Black with white binding--and the prices are just as striking.

Mahogany Body with Flame Maple TopAs with the original models, Dean uses a mahogany body for its contemporary '79s.Mahogany is a common choice for electrics, dependably delivering a warm, full tone with plenty of punch and sustain. The flamed maple top serves two purposes. The first, which is plain as day when you take a look at this axe, is aesthetic, with the Braziliaburst finish showcasing the flamed wood grain for looks you can't deny. The second result of the flamed maple top is a focusing of the mahogany tone, imparting clarity to your notes/chords, and a little extra high-end bite.

Set Neck ConstructionThe '79 ML features a set mahogany neck, which imparts all the well-known advantages of that style: a warmer overall tone with extended low-end response, wicked sustain, and easy upper-fret access (enhanced even further by the '79s cutaways). The 24-3/4-inch scale neck features a rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot inlays.

Dean Humbucker PickupsTo capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, in black-and-white "zebra" style for looks as good as the sounds. And what to expect tonally? These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

Grover TunersIf you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These guitar machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service. Tune-o-Matic BridgeThe '79's Tune-o-Matic bridgewith string-thru body design provides even more sustain, along with precise intonation for your tuning preference. The classic v-shaped plate mirrors the headstock wings for some nice vintage Dean style.

Dean Dime Guitar from Hell with Case Review

Dean Dime Guitar from Hell with Case
Average Reviews:

Dime would be proud, I loved his Washburn guitars, but always wanted a Dean like he started with... when they came out with these dime lines I kept telling myself I didn't need one, when they started selling them on Amazon, I watched them for years, finally Amazon tempted me too greatly with the $526 price tag and I jumped in and wish I had done so sooner... This thing shreds... I love playing it. I liked Dean, but hadn't owned one, they are great for their price range and even better getting them for a steal. It sounds great, plays fast, and looks good doing it. The case is great too.
Besides if you're looking at this you already know why you want it, I'm just affirming that it is the one you're looking for...

The Dean From Hell CFH is a straight-up replica of the Dean guitar Dimebag Darrell played with Pantera. Any fan would recognize this iconic axe from the band's Cowboys From Hell album cover, and any shredder would recognize some of its shred-tastic appointments: the classic Dean ML body shape, Floyd Rose double-locking trem, or the unique Bill Lawrence L500XL Bridge Pickup that Dimebag loved so well. This is a perfect axe for any rocker who wants to channel some of that Dimebag fury, and a fitting tribute to the man himself.

Dime ItThe late great Dimebag Darrell is a serious metal guitar hero, and Dean's series of Dimebag models pays homage. Dimebag started playing Dean ML style guitars in the late '70s, and made it one of the most recognizable shapes today. Dean offers a wide variety of Dimebag MLs to choose from, all boasting Dimebag's distinctive look and tons of mojo and attitude.

Mahogany BodyDean uses a mahogany body for this beast (as with many of its guitars).Mahogany is a common choice for electrics, dependably delivering a warm, full tone with plenty of punch and sustain. And of course there's that lightning-themed finish, sure to help coax a little electricity from your fingers on the fretboard.

Set Neck ConstructionThe CFH features a set mahogany neck, which imparts all the well-known advantages of that style: a warmer overall tone with extended low-end response, wicked sustain, and easy upper-fret access. The 24-3/4-inch scale neck features a rosewood fingerboard with classic dot inlays.

Bill Lawrence L500XL Bridge PickupDimebag made no secret of his love for this particular humbucker, relying on it for a crystal-clear, harmonic-drenched tone--very shred-friendly, but equally suited for rhythm work.

A Dean humbucker completes the package up in the neck position, each pickup getting its own volume conrol, along with a shared tone and three-way toggle.

Licensed Floyd Rose TremoloThe patented and often imitated double-locking design of the Floyd Rose tremolo allows you to lock your guitar in tune at the nut and at the bridge. Engineered like no other tremolo system, the Floyd's high-quality steel parts are manufactured to exacting specifications. Beat it up as much as you want--from traditional vibrato to dive bombing leads or flapping loose strings, and stay in tune while you do it.

DBD Traction KnobsDimebag always rocked his "traction knobs," which he created by taking a soldering iron to them, for knobs that are grippable no matter how much sweat's pouring off you on stage. Yet another aspect of the orginal Dean From Hell that Dean faithfully recreates here.

It took me a lot of experimenting to get the sounds I wanted, which is similar to Fear Factory or Brujeria. After reading through several forums I was able to dial in a good chunky tone. The klean channel doesn't get much use because turning down the volume of the guitar on the high gain channel gives me the clean sounds I want.

My first impression after taking this amp out of the box was depressing. One of the knobs was laying in the bottom of the protective plastic, so after giving the other knobs a light tug to test them, two more slipped off easily. Then, there was no manual to be found. So, instead of plugging in and playing, I spent time on the internet looking for a downloadable manual and putting contact adhesive on the knobs in hopes they will stay put. I emailed both Dean and Armadillo Enterprises (the actual manufacturers of the amp) and received no response from either.

This Dixie rebel is a shredders dream come true!
Mahogany set neck, mahogany body,DUNCAN Dime bucker and of course
DIME BAGS favorite Floyd Rose double locking tremlo.
Rose wood fret board.
Some of these are string through so make sure which one your buying on line.I have also noticed that the string through design has a little different paint job. It doesn't look as aged.
This guitar sounds great with a lot of crunch and power
for all of you Pantera fans out there.
The neck is fast and has a cool REBEL in lay at the #12 fret.
Not to mention that the killer paint job really finishes this ax off.
Don't be fooled by all of the cheap xl's that are on the market.
This is the real deal.
UPDATE/ The only real draw back I have noticed so far is the finnish. There are tiny little cracks all through the clear coat now. From what I hear, other guitar players and from Dean, there was an error made in putting the clear cote on with some of these guitars and alot of them all have the same issue. It wont affect the playability at all. Just re/sale value if people are picky about the finnish on purchasing a used guitar.
This guitar is a must have for your guitar arsenal.
If you like this guitar check out Deans war bird as well.

Let's joke a little. If you're in a metal band and you want to look good, buy this guitar. Everybody will look at as if you're the new best thing since sliced bread. If you're playing with another guitar player in the band, every time you make a mistake just look the way the other guy and everybody will think it's the other guy's mistake.
A little bit more serious. This guitar looks good. That's the way it was designed. But it also sounds goood! I was a little bit skeptical at first but after testing thoroughly I must admit the damm thing sounds good. I am thinking about upgrading it with EMG pickups, but I'm still hesitant, because it sounds so good. I'm gonna play it a little bit longer before I make up my mind.

This Razorback DB Floyd is the least expensive of the Razorback models. With its aggressive style and graphics, it screams "metal," and backs it up with fast action, high-output pickups, a Floyd Rose locking tremelo system, and plenty of access to upper frets.
