Steinberger Spirit XT-25 5-String Standard Bass, Black Review

Steinberger Spirit XT-25 5-String Standard Bass, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this is the one of the best basses in this price range that you can buy. period. great construction and quality. double ball tuning sytstem is awesome. the looks take a little getting used to, but once you do its awesome. the dual emg humbuckers are great. u can get whatever sound u want, from real punchy to mellow tones. the leg rest is kinda useless, and the gig bag provided isnt the best, so if you are going to carry it around i suggest you just use a normal bass gig bag...it works perfectly fine.

Nothing looks like a Steinberger and nothing performs like one either! The Spirit XT-25 is a 5-string bass featuring the same distinctive body-shape as the award-winning Steinberger XL Series and features the trademark headless neck with the patented Double-Ball tuning system. Add to that, a 3-piece hard Maple neck going completely through the body reinforced with an adjustable truss rod and this bass is not only stable, its practically indestructible!Other features include the patented Steinberger fixed bass bridge with direct-pull, 40:1 ratio machine heads, two (humbucker - humbucker) Steinberger bass pickups and folding leg rest for playing comfort while sitting. And the XT-2 is perhaps the world's most "travel-friendly" and convenient bass ever made. It comes complete with a gigbag and, being only 38.5" in length, it can fit in places where other basses can't! If youre on a budget but still need and want an instrument with Steinberger features and performance, the Spirit XT bass is perfect for you. SteinbergerState of the Instrument.

Schecter Riot Deluxe-4 Bass - Dark Metallic Blue Review

Schecter Riot Deluxe-4 Bass - Dark Metallic Blue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't think I've ever purchased a bass that was perfectly tuned and set up right out of the box. Amazing! The workmanship is excellent with no noticeable flaws. Intonation is perfect. Fret, string, and bridge height is perfect. I can honestly say I would change nothing with the set up. the neck is thin and fast, though the headstock bumps my hands on "F" notes on the 1st string. (Probably my bad technique more than a bass flaw). The active electronics produce a range from punchy funk to mellow ballads. When pushed, she puts out a mild distorted sound with everything on "11". Great color. Great bass. Great price. If you are on the fence, buy this bass. If your experience was anything like mine, you won't be sorry.

This guitar is the "Ruby Sparkle" as shown in the photo, although the item description says "Rainbow Sparkle." It is a gorgeous looking and sounding guitar! Definitely worth the price. It came well set-up and included a Daisy Rock gig bag. (The bag is not the most padded bag out there, but is adequate - and free!) Just using my little Danelectro Honeytone mini ampDanelectro Honeytone N-10 Guitar Mini Amp, Black it sounds excellent. Beautiful clear tones and chunky raw tones - truly a wide sonic range.

Epiphone Worn '66 Wilshire Electric Guitar, Worn Cherry Review

Epiphone Worn '66 Wilshire Electric Guitar, Worn Cherry
Average Reviews:

I do not recommend buying anything from this seller.
They are the biggest cheaters in town.
When I got the guitar, it was a mess...
It was an open box, fingerprints and smudges all over it.
Obviously, it was a re-boxed return.
And I supposedly bought a "new" guitar.
I can't express how ticked off I was.
I'm sure you would too ...
This is the work of the seller.
But this is just the beginning of the story.
I called and got a RMA number for the return.
It costed $50 to return a "used" guitar sold as "new".
After a month, I noticed that my credit card was not credited for the purchase.
Called and after waiting on the line for a long time and going over hoops, finally got the return.
Wouldn't you expect that once they got the guitar they would credit your card?
Not with this seller.
This seller is not musician's friend, but is musician's biggest nightmare.
Hope nobody gets one.

Dean Edge Quilt Top 5 String Bass Trans Blue Review

Dean Edge Quilt Top 5 String Bass Trans Blue
Average Reviews:

I was looking to make the jump from a 4 string to a 5 string, without breaking the bank; this bass fit the bill. As with any stringed instrument, getting the right strings (personal preference), and adjusting accordingly, makes it all the more 'your' instrument. Drop the bass off w/ a professional if you are not comfortable adjusting an instrument yourself, its usually never costly(~$40 around my area), unless something is way wrong to begin with.
Having had the bass for awhile now, I must say I'm impressed in the quality for this price. Incredibly nice to play, many tonal options, and the awesome low end 'B'.

Dean Edge 8-String Bass, Active Electronics, Classic Black Review

Dean Edge 8-String Bass, Active Electronics, Classic Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So, I decided to buy an 8-string and learn how to play it, since I was already uver-used to playing the 4-string. You know,I wanted that high-end dominance that the 8-string provides.
This bass does all of that, and has active pickups to boot. Not that they are particularly the best active pickups (the battery dies out a little early for my tastes), but they get the job done - and can blast the hell out of a sound system with an impressive overdrive knob.
The tone is really good, by all means. Unlike the Schecter Stilletto 8, the first few frets don't buzz when you use them, and the thing maintains the octave-harmonics effect even when you use tapping or slapping effects. The strings feel really good on the fingers, and it's no problem to slide while keeping an even sound. The only problem I have is that, if one tries to use an octave string alone, it will not sound off as highly as the fat strings, which makes it a little less fun.
I would say that this is a worthwhile buy for those just starting on the 8-string, because it is reliable, has one of the best sound-qualities, and fits a good budget at $500.

Schecter Robin Finck Limited Edition Signature Model Electric Guitar - Red Nitro Review

Schecter Robin Finck Limited Edition Signature Model Electric Guitar - Red Nitro
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this guitar and I have to say that it is fantastic. It plays like butter! Plus the tone is very diverse. The duncan at the bridge has a very hot output, and the other duncan designed pickups sound great as well though not quite as hot. Each pickup has its own switch for single coil, humbucker, or off making the tonal options vast. The case it comes with is top notch as well. Plus, the Bigsby is a nice touch. The only thing this guitar doesn't have is a tone knob for each pickup, just one for over all tone and one volume, but you can't have everything.
For the price, you just can't beat this. It was up between this guitar and a Les Paul, and I just couldn't find a Les Paul for even 3 times the price that played better.
If you're mulling this one over, I say do it.

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Precision Bass 60's, Fiesta Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this bass from the local Guitar Center three months ago and I have to say that it is really an awesome instrument. I have been playing for about six years now and never thought I would buy a Squier. I have a Highway 1 jazz bass that no other bass has come close to in terms of comfort, playability, and sound until now. I really lovethe p-bass tone and I would not be able to guess that this was a squier if you covered up the word squier on the headstock. My only gripe is a minor one, I am used to the satin finish on my Highway 1 so the thicker gloss on the neck of the Squier took a little getting used to. This is an incredible bass. Compared to the cheaper Squiers this thing blows them out of the water. My dad even said I was stupid for getting a Squier, then he played it and was blown away by the quality of this fine instrument. I cannot say enough good things about this instrument. If you are going to buy a p-bass, are looking for quality at a low price, this is what you need.

This is hands down the most user friendly bass I have ever played. It is also the most economical deal I have ever made. Tha RBX375 has the action like a top end four string bass. You would'nt even know your playing a five string bass, except for the extra low notes. I would play this bass on the most important of gigs; and I've played some big ones. The Bass Has a warm clean sound and, with the active electronics, can provide the funkiest of pop sounds. I recomend this bass to any level of bass player. Thanks for reading, Tim Parrish

Dean Edge 6 String Bass Trans Amberburst Review

Dean Edge 6 String Bass Trans Amberburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love my Dean Edge 6. But I can't play it. And I can't get strings for it.
It's a beautiful instrument. The fit and finish is quite good for the price. It sounds great.
An accomplished bassist recommended that I get a six string. That was a HUGE mistake. This bass is a monster, and is no good for learning to play.
The biggest problem, however, is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get strings for this thing. All of the "Extra Long Scale" strings that I have tried begin to taper just shy of the nut. I contacted Dean and they told me that they string the bass with bulk D'Addario strings and that they couldn't recommend any set that I could buy. They suggested that I visit the nearest dealer . . . 600 miles away.
So, the instrument is terrific, Dean's customer service is WORTHLESS.
-Peter

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom, 3 Tone Sunburst Review

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom, 3 Tone Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me make this clear. Find reviews of almost any inexpensive guitar, and you will find people raving about what a great value it is and how it sounds better than the $2000 that it is supposed to look like.
There is no doubt that manufacturers of inexpensive guitars have raised their game across the board. Any of the companies related to Gibson and Fender are going to have some import guitars made in Mexico and in Asia that by far surpass the quality of what was coming out of those areas a decade or two ago.
In this review, I am not raving about this guitar just because it is a great value, or because it sounds as good as a Custom Shop special. I am simply saying that this guitar has a unique sound (that I do love), and the quality seems good enough to be durable and last for a long time.
1. The Look
I have to say that this guitar is beautiful. It has an alder body and a very high quality looking poly sunburst finish. the "mint green" white pickguard looks sharp, and the double bound body always makes a Tele look far classier. The gloss finish on the headstock also adds to the refined look of this guitar. I can only find a new small flaws in the finish of this guitar. There is nothing in the finish that makes this guitar look cheap. It is a gorgeous guitar, without a doubt.
2. The Components
The hardware seems to be medium to high quality. The Bridge Plate does not feel as solid and durable as the ones on many teles that I have handled before. I would rate this part as a Medium quality part. The tuners are the cool vintage style and really do stay in tune well. I am surprised by their quality, they certainly feel like an upgrade over anything that Squier has ever offered and they stay in tune as well as or better than any Mexican Fender that I have ever played. The tone and volume knobs are very solid feeling, they are responsive and feel like very high quality parts. The stiff feel means that you will prefer it if you don't constantly tweak the levels on your guitar. If you use the volume for swells, you might feel that this are a tad stiff. But they are smoother than any mexican or asian component that I have ever used. The 3 way switch does not feel as solid to me, but perhaps I am a little picky. The Saddles are the 3 shared saddles rather than 6 individual ones, the saddles actually feel like a quality metal part to me. The body is Alder as opposed to the Pine or Plywood Tele's that seem to populate the least expensive models. This body is far heavier than any Squier Tele or Mexican Fender Tele that I have played. I think that this gives it a unique amount of sustain and very high quality to the tone.
3. The Neck
The neck is thinner than any strat or tele neck that I have ever played. This is a preference thing for most people, so be sure that you are OK with a thin neck. The frets are advertised as Medium-Jumbo, but so are the ones on two strats that I own, and these frets seems smaller and thinner. They are installed perfectly on the model that I have. Not only are there no sharp edges, but they are perfectly matched up. Some people are very picky about this and I would have to say that these frets were installed and finished to as good of a quality as I have ever felt. The rosewood fretboard looks just fine to me, no frills, it actually is a different looking rosewood than what is on any of the strats that I have owned. No complaints, just different. The finish on the back of the neck is a thick poly. If you prefer a satin feel over the smooth poly, you will have to sand this neck quite a bit. I will be doing this to my guitar and see no problem making the neck feel great and satiny. The nut, looks plasticy to me and not bone. I like the sound of this guitar and will not be changing anything on it, so whatever the component is, it still works with the combination of this guitar. There is a little bit of over gluing around the nut which may be the biggest construction flaw on my particular model. It certainly doesn't change the tone, but
4. The Sound, and Pickups
I was told that these are Alnico V pickups. They have a great punch to them which I like in a Tele. When picked right, you can even get a decent twang, but these sound a bit more bluesy than cheap twangy. The Bridge pickup is a great sounding pickup. The attack sounds great, it is obviously a high output pickup and can drive an amp well. There is a lot of midrange in this pickup, and it sounds very high quality to me. The neck has a rounder and fuller sound with a lot of attack to it as well. The big surprise in this guitar to me though is the amazing amount of quality sustain. This does not have a thin or weak sustain, it is a meaty sustain that outlasts many Tele's that I have played. This, to me, is what makes this instrument an amazing and unique guitar. I am getting some really cool Jimi sounds and just some great blues out of this guitar, as well as some great classic rock. To me, this does not sound like a twangy country guitar. I am looking forward to playing this guitar with a slide, because I can tell it will sound amazing and have a very resonant quality to it. The middle position on this guitar sounds like a quacky strat (in a good way) with far more sustain.
5. Overall
I think that this is a unique instrument and should be judged that way. This is not like any other Squier or even Mexican Tele, it has a unique feel and tone. Heavy body, thin neck, tons of sustain, lost of Spank and quack, but a full bodied quality sound. I am very pleased with my purchase. The cheap Squiers sounded cheap and the Mexican Tele's sounded like lower quality wannabe's of a good American Tele. This guitar is unique, feels very durable, it a pleasure to look at. If you are the kind of guitarist who doesn't care about the brandname, or if you have liked Squier, you will recognize that this is a fun and unique creation. People will think that you modded a Squier Tele with some very high quality pickups when they hear you play it, but when they look at it and feel it, they will be shocked that this is a stock offering from Squier.
I have played this guitar through Fender Champion 600's and Blues Jr's as well as my Blackheart Handsome Devil with overdrive and clean. All of these Amps were great combo's with this particular guitar. I have never heard a little Champ 600 sound this good, and I will be buying a little Champ myself.
I am extremely pleased to own a guitar that I enjoy this much for such a low price. I feel like I have a well-kept secret, and I wish that more people would be able to find a guitar that they are as excited about as I am about this one.
