Epiphone Prophecy Futura Custom FX (Floyd, EMG-81/85 Pickups) Review

I'll be honest. I don't think this guitar is for everyone. Other than receiving the actual guitar in a mess (de-tuned, very very very low action, ridiculous unplayable buzzing and offset bridge etc, etc....don't worry... did not buy it from this particular seller XD), After i got it fixed, it played excellent. I can't judge it too harshly because i've been playing a jackson rr-3 for 2 years, and the floyd rose on that particular model of guitar is completely flush with the body, and i know most floyds are not, but rather raised, above the body. Also, the pick-ups are a bit too close together for my liking, and i have a really hard time getting harmonics out of the g-string, but that's just my experience, and i would say 'because of that' but i really don't know if that's the cause. And of course it's about twice the weight of an rr3 so you get a bit sore after a while, but i can't complain about that. Other than that, it has a nice fast neck, reasonably slim, plays nice, but pick-ups seem a bit over-responsive.

Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar, Floyd Rose, Gun Metal Gray Review

Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar, Floyd Rose, Gun Metal Gray

This guitar is as close to what I have been looking for right out of the box for 35 years. Very versatile, flexible, easy to play , great tone, powerfull and not as heavy as a regular les paul. With the floyd rose, coil split capability, new neck design you have just about every conceivable option possible in a quality guitar, from jazz to heavy metal. Very expensive, forced me to trade in my srv, gibson acoustic and my fender twin to bring down the price, but I couldn't help it. I had to have it.

Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar: Improving the Standard For nearly six decades now, Gibson's Les Paul Standard has stood the test time as the most playable electric guitar in the world. While others have attempted to imitate it, none have come close to duplicating the qualities of this legendary guitar. Yet each year, Gibson attempts to improve on the world's best guitar. This time, it's with the new Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar from Gibson Custom.
More than Just Different: Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar The Les Paul Axcess Standard is more than just "different." It's the result of Gibson's drive to build the best Les Paul Standard possible, while staying true to the design and performance of the iconic Les Paul electric guitars of the past. The new Les Paul Axcess Standard from Gibson Custom carries all the elegant styling, fluid body lines and rocking attitude of a classic Les Paul Standard from the golden era of the late 1950s. Upon closer examination, however, the Les Paul Axcess reveals a handful of upgrades--all modifications made in the name of maximum playability and versatility. As Gibson Custom Operations Manager Michael McGuire puts it, "Everything about this Les Paul has been designed to make it a player's 'player's guitar.' From the easy access to its upper range to the comfortable belly scarf to the Floyd Rose vibrato, this instrument was made to give you optimum performance."
Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard Features a Distinctive Floyd Rose Vibrato The most noticeable addition to Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar is the Floyd Rose tailpiece, a unit optimized for anything from subtle vibrato wobbles to dramatic, rumbling divebombs. Adding a Floyd Rose to a Les Paul in the past was always a major undertaking, and one that could seriously damage the stability of the instrument if not done right. On the Les Paul Axcess, the vibrato is installed right at Gibson Custom as part of the manufacturing process, which means this potent piece of high-performance hardware interacts seamlessly with the design of this electric guitar. Partnered with an R4 locking nut, it also guarantees fantastic tuning stability and return-to-pitch accuracy.
Contoured Neck for Upper Fret Access on the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar If you take the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar and run your fingers up the neck, you'll encounter the clever structural alteration that gives this new model its name: While the Axcess sports what looks from the front to be a traditional Les Paul neck joint, the neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint at the upper cutaway have been contoured to provide a "heelless" feel, and an unimpeded reach right up to the 22nd fret. What does this mean? No more stretching against the traditional neck heel to achieve the upper-fret access that your lead style demands--the Axcess gives you that legendary Les Paul playability all the way up the neck, welcoming you to take it right over the top. Comfortable Ribcage Contour To further enhance playing comfort, this smoothly carved neck joint is combined with a "belly scarf" (aka ribcage contour) that allows the body of the electric guitar to hug closely to your own body in the playing position without digging in. Refreshingly Light Body Style The Les Paul Axcess's slightly thinner body, made from weight-relieved mahogany (with carved maple top), gives you an instrument that is refreshingly light and a pure joy to play, either strapped on or in a seated position. Optimum Tone Setup The Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar is also geared toward optimum tone, as you'd expect from any Gibson Custom creation. Exposed-coil BurstBucker 1 and BurstBucker 2 pickups in the neck and bridge positions--the most accurate reproduction vintage-PAF-style humbuckers Gibson has ever offered--yield everything from warm, fluid vocal tones to fat, sweet growl, while an added push/pull switch on the treble Tone knob provides coil splitting for accurate single-coil tones. These unique tonal combinations excel at delivering everything from singing classic rock lead tones to contemporary crunch to extremes of twang and jangle. Even the pure-nickel wound .10-.46 Gibson Vintage Strings it ships with contribute toward its rich, textured voice. Epiphone Les Paul Nightfall Electric Guitar, Ebony Review

Epiphone Les Paul Nightfall Electric Guitar, Ebony

I picked this guitar up at guitar center the other day and havent looked back since. It is an amzing guitar. The emg pickups sound great distorted or clean. The floyd rose is outstanding and fairly sturdy. NO tuning problems at all. The coil tapping is a bonus if you needed anything else. The black makes it a very calm looking guitar. I suggest this a 2nd level guitar vs a first because of the floyd rose. Floyd roses are very hard to tune and drop tune if you arn't fimilar. I suggest a epiphone special ii first. Which is also a good guitar. Once you know your sktyle (drop tuning etc) then buy this guitar as a 2nd guitar. BUT KEEP THE FIRST ONE. Floyd roses cant be changed so keep one without a tremelo ready. Overall amazing guitar.

The Epiphone Nightfall electric guitar features a smooth, satin-finish hard maple neck with Epiphone's thin SpeedTaper "D" profile. The hard maple neck is fitted with a premium ebony fingerboard for smooth, long-lasting performance, while providing more clarity and pop than a weasel in HD.The sturdy Epiphone Nightfall guitar neck makes it the perfect companion for the black, double-locking Floyd Rose® Special tremolo. The body is routed out beneath the tremolo, allowing you to raise the pitch up to 2-1/2 steps or dive-bomb until your strings go slack. It's combined with an R4 locking nut for improved tuning stability. With the raging duo of an EMG-HZ-4A in the bridge and an HZ-4 in the neck, your solos will melt faces and your rhythms will be as chunky as homemade peanut butter. The passive pickups on the Epiphone Les Paul Nightfall do an incredible job of emulating their active counterpartsthe EMG-81 and 85yet require no batteries, so you'll never have to worry about showing up to a gig with dead pickups. Each of these nearly silent 'buckers is wired to allow coil-splitting via push/pull potentiometers on both volume controls. This gives you a total of 8 tones when combined with the 3-way togglefrom shrieking, eyebrow-piercing freq-outs to chest-caving bass blasts.Other features on the Epiphone Les Paul guitar include Grover machine heads, abalone inlay on the 12th fret, and Epiphone's own StrapLocks.

With its Black Cherry, hand-rubbed body and gold hardware, the new Les Paul GX is breathtakingly beautiful. But, don't let its good looks fool you. At the heart of this LP are Gibson USA's custom Dirty Fingers pickups which have been called "the critical unique between power and dirt." With very aggresive tone Dirty Fingers pickups are perfect for those who play tuned down nu-metal and other equally hard-hitting styles. A coil-tap push/pull volume control lets you switch from humbucker to single-coil mode for non-traditional tonal flexibility.

Don't let its good looks fool you.

Epiphone's Prophecy Line The new Prophecy Collection features four distinct shapes that all share common features. In addition to the guitar style, the model either is an EX (EMG active or the new EpiActive pickups), GX (Gibson USA pickups), or FX (original Floyd Rose Tremolo). Common features include highly figured quilt Maple tops, 24-fret SpeedTaper satin necks, jumbo frets, unique "blade" inlays, Epiphone's new, patent-applied-for Straplocks, hand-stained colors and eye-catching Pearl knobs. Because they're all "Customs", they all have bound bodies and necks. The new Prophecy Collection takes advantage of all the design work and testing we've been doing over the past two to three years.

Bound Headstock All Prophecy guitars feature a bound headstock and fingerboard for a smooth feel and clean look.
Precision Tuners Grover machine heads provide professional tuning accuracy and stability.
Pro Hardware All Prophecy guitars feature professional hardware including premium metal knobs with pearl inlay and all-metal, heavy-duty switches.
Dirty Fingers Humbuckers Gibson's Gear division offers the extreme-output Dirty Fingers pickups. These pickups max out the attitude factor, with the perfect marriage of power and dirt.
LockTone Bridge The Epiphone LockTone tune-o-matic/stopbar system not only provides added security but increases sustain.
SpeedTaper Neck Epiphone's new SpeedTaper neck has a very slim "D" profile and satin finish for fast performance with a smooth feel.
