(More customer reviews)I have played many ukuleles and to me this by far sounds the best. The natural Koa seems to resonate more than the standard Koa or curly Koa ukuleles. I did switch out my strings as soon as I got it for some black strings with the low string being a metal wound string but that's a personal preference. The workmanship is beautiful. I was skeptical originally because I am the type to try before I buy. I had the S-TEQ before this and didn't like the "bright" sound compared to the softer Koa sound. I will try to post a video review so you can hear it.

When the British ship The Ravenscrag first landed in Hawaii they brought with them an instrument never before seen on the islands. (More customer reviews)besides its great looks, this ukulele has an amazingly sweet, deep tone. while not solid koa, you can hardly tell. it sounds amazing, feels amazing to play. great intonation, and as it's a lanikai, should come with aquila strings. i got mine two days ago and haven't put it down. well worth the cost.

Lanikai SM-C Custom Series Spalted Mango Concert Ukulele Review

(More customer reviews)I picked this up a few months back and I have to say it just gets better with age. I was looking at the Ibanez spalted mango uke and it looked great, it was also much cheaper, but it sounded like a tin can with strings. I think that is because theirs is a laminate. The Lanikai is solid woods all the way around. At first it sounded a little muted, but I kept playing it and the top loosened up and now sounds great. Very mellow not like any of my other ukes. After I bought this one I saw that there is a Spalted Mango Lanikai with electronics and a killer looking headstock. That one is the SM-CE its very cool but I'll probably end up putting a MiSi in this one.
Great uke, oh... by the way dont go by the picture, each one is completely different mine showed up and it had the most killer looking top on it.

(More customer reviews)My wife is the uke lady, at my house she owns 4 and mostly plays this one. THis is a great uke for the price. The set of strings that came with the uke needed to be replaces due to dry rot, but that has not been uncommon with other ukes. * strings is really full sounding. Fit and finish are very good.
