Nice small gig amp. A little heavy and wish the there were handles on sides for easier mobility. Would recommend for basement jams and small bar gigs. Sound is crisp and doesn't sacrifice nice bottom end. Well balanced and nice looking amp. Also like that amp is made in England.

A great sounding small room amplifier. The tone is amazing and high quality construction-I'm really happy with it!

Genz•Benz's amplifiers from the Shuttle series was created for on-the-move bassists who need a flexible, full-featured combo system that is easily transportable and sounds good too.The core of the series is the lightweight Shuttle amplifier design. The 6.0 weighs only 3.75 lbs. and delivers 375 watts at 8 ohms and 600 watts at 4 ohms. Though this is a combo, the amp chassis can be easily removed from it's combo "saddle" quickly and carried to another gig in the pocket of your bass case or the available carry bag. The chassis has a handle too that makes carrying the cab, just as easy. The head is extremely useful as a standalone unit, with a headphone output that is excellent for quiet, personal practice sessions. You can adjust the volume level and tone you hear with the analog 12AX7 tube preamp, and, using the Post EQ setting on the DI, you can turn the Shuttle 6.0 into an outstanding preamp for recording. It also has an extended range input gain for active/passive sensitivity, effects loop, limiter circuit, LED status indicators, Speakon speaker outputs, tuner out, full XLR direct out interface, aux. input, and a headphone jackThe cab portion of the 6.0-12T combo is a rear-ported, Birch-ply enclosured amp that combines 2 Genz•Benz GNX12300 neodymium 10" loudspeakers with a custom sourced bullet compression tweeter with attenuation control for a bass combo that is as versatile as it is pleasing to the ear. It's also got a bottom-mounted, tilt-back stand for angling the speaker cab towards you while you perform.

Ampeg BA115HP BassAmp Series 1x15 Solid State Bass Combo Amplifier, 220 Watt Review

Ampeg BA115HP BassAmp Series 1x15 Solid State Bass Combo Amplifier, 220 Watt
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a studio sessio bassist, so I normally do not have much need for a bass amp. From time to time, I may need an amp in a studio for a "miked" tone for the recording, but in most cases I run direct with great results.
However, I had a dilema: When a studio client would ask me to play live with them, I frequently had to turn down the gig because I had great basses but no amp. I was looking on zZound's website (http://www.zzounds.com) and found this bass amp on sale as a B-stock item. B-stock is great value because it is slight used, usually returned merchandise that has been completely checked over and resold from the manufacturer. I bought this amp for considerably less than retail, it came with full warranty, and it had no cosmetic flaws when I opened the box. I plugged the amp in and hooked up my bass to test the amp, and the tone was amazing! This small combo amp, pound for pound, outperforms the bass stack that I owned before!
This amp has 220 watts, which is plenty of power for where musicians in the real world play. Face it: when was the last time you played an arena?! =D This is perfect for a gig in a restaurant, small bar, or club. This combo has an XLR output as well, so when recording or playing a larger venue or an outdoor festival, running to the PA and/or the recording console is extremely easy. I'm not a fan of 15" drivers, but again, I got such a good deal on this amp that I couldn't pass it up! I would have preferred a 2x10 configuration, which Ampeg does have available if you prefer that configuration. Nevertheless, the 15" driver with the 1" compression horn does produce clean, clear, versitile tone. I have used this combo for anything from rock, jazz, blues, metal, pop, country, gospel, etc. I have never had any complaints about the tone.
The preamp filters consist of a simple 3-band EQ (bass, mid, treble), which sounds surprisingly good for only being a 3-band EQ. There is also a 5-position switch with predetermined EQ curves from the factory: 1 & 2 scoop out the mids (1 = heavy scoop, 2 = light scoop), 3 is flat (no coloration), 4 & 5 boost the upper mids while keeping the lows and lower mids flat. All of these positions have very usable tones by themselves, but then when you use the 3-band EQ to tweak the tone... BAM!! Ampeg tonal magic!! I don't know what Ampeg does to make this little box sound so good, but whatever it is works! ;)
Some other features that I like are the BUILT IN TUNER (huge convenience, and the tuner is accurate), a mute switch (always a welcome addition to a bass amp as far as I'm concerned), and removable casters so that moving the amp around is a breeze. Also, the classic black Ampeg look. I can go to any kind of gig, and the musicians and fans will immediately know what kind of amp I'm playing and how good it will sound. There's also RCA left and right (that's red and white) connections so that you can hook up your iPod, CD player, metronome, or drum machine while you practice. I usually don't practice plugged in, so that doesn't really matter much to me. :)
There are also a couple of little things that Ampeg thought of that don't really matter to players unless something goes wrong... For example: ever broken a knob off your combo amp because it stuck out too far and your car door hit it? I think we've all been there... The tops of the control knobs are slightly under flush from the top of the cabinet. Minimal risk for knob breakage. The power cable is built in, though I would have preferred a standard detachable power cable. Again, though, minimal risk. There is a space on the back of the cabinet under the head that's about 4-5" tall and is deep enough to tuck the power cable away when no plugged in. They even thought to put velcro tabs in this spot to secure the cable.
A couple of things that I would have liked to see on this amp include a compresser and lighter weight. The power amp does have a built in limiter to protect the amplifier from signal peaks. This does have some effect on the tone, but it is minimal. I like a compressed tone, but I can buy a foot pedal for compression. Not a huge-mongous deal. Also, this thing is an 85 lbs BEAST!! The casters do make lugging this heavy box around easy once it is on the ground, but getting it in/out of the car is a little rough on my lower back. If you don't mind the weight too much, this will not be an issue. I would have also liked to see an effects loop and an auxilary speaker output. I think Ampeg was trying to keep this amp very simple, so I understand why these features aren't there. It still sucks a bit though...
Overall, I was very impressed with the performance, tone, look, and everything else with this particular combo amp. I am very glad that I bought it, happy about the good deal I got, and overjoyed with the tone this box puts out.

Gallien-Krueger MB212 Ultralight Bass Guitar Combo (500 Watt) Review

Gallien-Krueger MB212 Ultralight Bass Guitar Combo (500 Watt)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Initially sounded incredible, but on the 3rd rehearsal it started blowing farts, (not even using 50% of volume capacity.) I knew based on previous reviews that there was a design or quality control issue, but was intrigued by the 2x12 speaker arrangement and thought I would take a chance. My guess is that they sacrificed durability by obtaining such an extraordinary light weight (27lbs I think) and they quite obviously did not take the amp through thorough QC testing to ensure the product they were delivering to market was as advertised given how common this same basic problem has been.
Contacted Gallien-Krueger's support department initially to see about having it replaced or repaired 2 weeks ago. Still have not heard back. And it's more for this latter reason than the deficient design that I will ever after be hesitant about buying anything from Gallien-Krueger in the future. After a couple days of not hearing from GK, contacted Amazon to return item, which they did hassle free. It's why I do all of my online shopping with Amazon whenever possible. Amazon 5 stars; GK 1 star.

Have been a fan of GK products for years. Paired this with the 700RB/210 Combo for a more dynamic sound and am amazed at the difference. Great power and dynamic range. As always, GK delivers excellent workmanship and sound quality at a fair price. Light as a feather compared to the old time stuff. Wouldn't use anything but GK products.

Tried it out side by side with a Markbass cmd102p and a Genz Benz Shuttle 600 2x10. Amazing lows with articulate mids and highs sum this wee beastie up well. The tweeter is hissy but adjustable and frankly the only issue I have. I am no fan of most neo cabs but this is an exception. The GB is very cool but is rear ported and I lose some definition on the low end with it and it is twice the price. The tube section of the GB is fine but I did not miss it one bit compared to the GK head. The Markbass head is great by itself but the speakers are blurry on the bottom and their tweet hisses too. The VPF and VLF controlls on the Mark are killer tools if used right. Yet again the Mark is twice as much. The Mark head is a bit easier to dial in my sound but after a few extra minutes with the GK I was in heaven with the tone, every bit as thick and rich as the Mark. Between me and my bass buds we cover the gambit in styles and all agree the GK is almost to good to be true. Loud enough by itself to hang with a heavy hitting drummer and two guitards :) At half the price and lightest in the class it's a no brainer (which fits me).

Loved it, the minute I plugged it in.This is the amp I've been waiting for, from the warmth of the tube preamp,to the brightest slap&pop, and everything in between.I've been in cover bands for 30plus yrs and this amp will do anything I want it to. Simple controls & setup, If you can't find "your sound" here, maybe you should try playing guitar instead. I can't say enough about it so far, only had it about a week. More than enough power! I've played much more expensive rigs, and I think this one holds it's own with any of them. You could pay twice as much for an Ampeg! But why? It's not just me, my band mates were "blown away"too. The bottom end with the 4x10 is amazing. Buy it, you won't be sorry
