Fleabass Junior 3/4 Size Bass Guitar Black and White (Wild One) Review

Fleabass Junior 3/4 Size Bass Guitar Black and White (Wild One)
Average Reviews:

The 30" short scale Fleabass is a pleasant surprise; light weight, great sounding, well-balanced, and extremely easy to play for extended periods. The big surprise is the big, full sound from the single passive humbucker; with very little EQ (and a touch of sub-harmonics), this bass sounds full-sized indeed. The Fleabass is well-detailed, with a massive cast bridge featuring individually adjustable string height and intonation (allen wrench included) and very smooth action tuners. Yes, at this price point, they're copies, but they're pretty good copies.
Where this bass lost that last star was in finish details. The paint, while smooth (no orange peel)was oversprayed; bits of black can be seen around the edges of the white trim pieces. More seriously (but easily correctable), the control cavity comes unsheilded, and the bass is as a result more sensitive to the standard sources of hum (light dimmers, etc.) than most contemporary basses. The first thing I did was line the control cavity with sheet copper, which fixed the issue. As delivered, the bass had medium action and good intonation; I lowered the action without encountering any fret buzz. The round-wound strings supplied are of unknown origin, but play well, stay in tune without much effort, and sound surprisingly good.
In summary, the Fleabass is a very high quality instrument, and a pleasure to play. Highly recommended, especially at Amazon's amazingly low price.

A great bass for beginners starting out, or for those with smaller hands, the Junior Bass is a 30-inch scale, 20-fret bass with a solid alder body. A maple bolt-on neck, rosewood fingerboard, and cutaway for fret access make it super-playable. Quality electronics, hardware, and factory setup mean it'll stay that way.

The Fleabass "If they don't play great, they're not going to the stores. We'll set up every one and make sure it's perfect." --Flea

The Fleabass is made out of Flea's desire to offer musicians an instrument that they can fall in love with. They are affordable, play beautifully, and they will only get better in time. High-Quality Instruments Looks aren't everything. Each Junior Bass was designed for excellent sustain and brilliant, rich tone. Featuring a solid alder body with string-thru-body design, they look clean and sound clean. Spector Legends are one of the best basses in their price point. Very nice feeling neck and the sculpted body really feels nice and comfy against your body. The only thing that could use some upgrading are the pickups, but they're fine like they are. All in all a great bass.

Gretsch Guitars G2202 Electromatic Junior Jet Bass Guitar, Ebony Burst Review

Gretsch Guitars G2202 Electromatic Junior Jet Bass Guitar, Ebony Burst

I started playing bass in about 1979. I've been using one of these Gretsch short-scale basses for the past couple of years. The first word that comes to mind is "playability." I have a 1968 Fender Coronado II that's worth a lot more, but this Gretsch plays far better. It's just a joy to play. If you look at Guitar Center's site, almost every reviewer rates this bass 5 stars. It's surprisingly well-made for being this inexpensive. I'm sure there are better basses out there, but at many times the price of this Gretsch!

G&L USA ASAT Electric Bass (Four String, Tinted Gloss Hard Rock Maple Neck) Review

GandL USA ASAT Electric Bass (Four String, Tinted Gloss Hard Rock Maple Neck)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It took me a little while to adjust to this bass, and initially I would give the sound and 5 but the playability a three or four. However, I was coming from a Japanese Aria with a thin neck that could really just shred. After getting used to the dynamic electronics of the G&L, adjusting the setup, and outfitting the bass with Elixir Super Lights, it's a joy to play. It's still chunkier than some European basses (seems most American basses are) but it's rock solid and has incredible sustain. It will make cheap amps sound expensive and expensive amps sound like gold. I keep away from the active option, but if you need extra punch and brightness, punch up the onboard EQ. One design gripe that I don't have to deal with since I never use the active electronics: no easy-to-open battery case. You've got to unscrew the whole back plate, so be god and don't strip the screws.
I highly recommend this bass. It plays above its price point and still provides a classic sound that I never hear from boutique basses. I say all of this having played (and loved) Ibanez SDGRs, Yamaha Stages, Warwick Corvettes (still have a fretless Std.), and OLPs as well as the Aria Pro I mentioned earlier.
The finish is great, the fit is well-crafted, and if you're still wondering, check out Harmony Central's discussion.

Gretsch® G5210 Electromatic Junior Jet - Tobacco Sunburst 6-string Electric Guitar Review

Gretsch® G5210 Electromatic Junior Jet - Tobacco Sunburst 6-string Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a long time player, guitar/bass that is, playing everything from blues and classic rock to metal and punk and was looking for a brand name guitar at as low a price as i could find to use as a back-up to my vintage strat. I had played a Jackson as back-up but the neck is too thin for me as I was a bass player for many years.
My needs were simple, one pick-up, one tone and one volume knob, lighter weight ( my strat weights a ton )and cool looks. With that in mind I started shopping. When I saw the Gretsch Junior Jet, wow, just what I needed. When the guitar got here I couldn't believe how nice it really was.The neck is not as big as the strat but wider then the Jackson. I liked the feel right away. For the money I thought it would be ok as a back up but after a new set of GHS boomer 10/52s strings I can't put this thing down !! Sure, the sound is not all THAT great but played through my digitech effect pedal it has a sound all its own that everyone in the band likes. For the money this guitar is awsome to play and will get more stage time then my strat.
