You get lots of tone control with the 3 pickup on/off switches, as well as the tone knobs. The active output could be a little more powerful, but it's not wimpy. It's just a little lower than my other 2 basses that I rotate with at gigs.
If you're looking for that Music Man punch, this is the one for you. Trust me, you won't regret it.
