(More customer reviews)I was VERY skeptical about this amp at first, in fact I was skeptical about ALL modeling amps. I felt the were just a "Gimmick", "Toy" not a real piece of musical equipment. The Peavey vypyr tube 120 REALLY changed my mind about modeling technology. The layout of this amp is intuitive and the learning curve isn't to steep. The amp models are terrific and are truly convincing. In fact, what makes this amp so useful is it's "Tweek ability".
Every stompbox and rack effect is editable. The delay and reverb can be dialed in to taste and every amp model has a clean and dirty channel which can be tweeked as well.
With the optional Sanpera 2 foot controller you have up to 400 EDITABLE presets and a built in looper to create your own rhythm track to play lead over. The Sanpera 2 has a volume pedal and wah / expression pedal. Also there's a built in tuner. The power section is tube and has excellent playing dynamics of any tube amp I've played. This is a very well thought out piece of equipment and so far has delivered in every category. My buddy has a Mesa Boogie Mark V and I can dial in his tone with no problem at all , and boy did I save a lot of $$ over what he paid.
Honestly, if you can play it, this amp can say it. I have been playing a very long time and have tried just about everything related to guitar amplification, boutique to unique, and just like recording studios, you don't have to spend thousands of $$$ anymore to sound amazing. Unless you want to . It's nice to concentrate on playing and not your gear.
It's VERY loud and VERY heavy. I like that VERY much.
Now the downside. IMHO the "Fangs" on this amp cheapens it a bit. A simple small Peavey Vypyr logo would have been more classy and it seems less costly. I have seen "Defanged Vyper's on You Tube and they look GREAT!!!
But this amp and you will not be disappointed . Of course try it out first at the store like I did.
